A Necessary and Sufficient Condition for the Existence of a Heterochromatic Spanning Tree in a Graph

We prove the following theorem. An edge-colored (not necessary to be proper) connected graph G of order n has a heterochromatic spanning tree if and only if for any r colors (1≤r≤n−2), the removal of all the edges colored with these r colors from G results in a graph having at most r+1 components, where a heterochromatic spanning tree is a spanning tree whose edges have distinct colors.     

Total synthesis of pleurolactone

The stereoselective total synthesis of pleurolactone has been accomplished in 7 steps. The key synthetic features were the construction of four contiguous stereocenters using an endo-selective Diels-Alder reaction and high diastereoselective dihydroxylation.     

Synthesis and nanoimprinting of high refractive index and highly transparent polythioethers based on thiol-ene click chemistry

This work demonstrates the UV nanoimprinting lithography (UV-NIL) of high refractive index and highly transparent polythioethers based on thiol-ene click chemistry. Herein, 9,9-bis(3-mercaptopropylphenylether)fluorene (BMPF) is designed as a new thiol monomer with a high refractive index, high transparency, and good processability for UV-NIL. Colorless polythioethers are synthesized from BMPF and ene monomers under mild thiol-ene click reaction conditions. Excellent transmittance (96%) of 400 nm light is observed in all the polymer films and high refractive index values of 1.5972–1.6382 are attained. UV-NIL using thiol-ene photopolymerization affords polymer nanoimprinting patterns with various features on the order of 100–500 nm without any fractures. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on UV-NIL of high refractive index and highly transparent polymers. Through proper monomer and polymer design, novel polythioethers with suitable glass transition temperature (T _g) values are developed with high refractive index, high transparency, and good UV-NIL processability. Reactions of a Silylyne Complex with Aldehydes: Formation of W−Si−O−C Four-Membered Metallacycles and Their Metathesis-Like Fragmentation

A tungsten silylyne complex having a W≡Si triple bond reacted with two molecules of aldehydes at room temperature to give W−Si−O−C four-membered metallacycles by [2+2] cycloaddition and subsequent formyl hydrogen transfer from one aldehyde molecule to another. Upon heating to 70 °C, the four-membered metallacycles underwent metathesis-like fragmentation cleanly to afford carbyne complexes and “silanoic esters,” in a manner similar to that of metallacyclobutadiene, an intermediate of alkyne metathesis reactions, and dimerization of the latter products gave 1,3-cyclodisiloxanes. The “silanoic ester” was also trapped by pivalaldehyde to give a [2+2] cycloaddition product in high yield.     

Synthesis of medium-sized carbocyclic ketones via the intramolecular B-alkyl Liebeskind-Srogl coupling reaction

Synthesis of medium-sized carbocyclic ketones via the intramolecular B-alkyl Liebeskind-Srogl coupling reaction is described. The sequence of hydroboration of ω-alkenyl thiol ester with 9-BBN and the Liebeskind-Srogl reaction results in the formation of medium-sized carbocyclic ketones with good yield.     

Pd(II)-SPRIX catalyzed enantioselective construction of pyrrolizines/pyrroloindoles employing molecular oxygen as the sole oxidant

Pd(II)-SPRIX catalyst coupled with an environmentally benign molecular oxygen as the sole oxidant successfully exploited the construction of pyrrolizines/pyrroloindoles, imperative scaffolds of bio-potent molecules through intramolecular C-N and C-C bond forming reactions in good yields with appreciable enantioselectivities.
