Encapsulation of coronene inside single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) was studied under various conditions. Under high vacuum, two main types of molecular encapsulation were observed by using transmission electron microscopy: coronene dimers and molecular stacking columns perpendicular or tilted (45–60°) with regard to the axis of the SWNTs. A relatively small number of short nanoribbons or polymerized coronene molecular chains were observed. However, experiments performed under an argon atmosphere (0.17 MPa) revealed reactions between the coronene molecules and the formation of hydrogen‐terminated graphene nanoribbons. It was also observed that the morphology of the encapsulated products depend on the diameter of the SWNTs. The experimental results are explained by using density functional theory calculations through the energies of the coronene molecules inside the SWNTs, which depend on the orientation of the molecules and the diameter of the tubes.  相似文献

Numerous organic and inorganic laboratory standards were gathered from nine European and North American laboratories and were analyzed for their delta(18)O values with a new on-line high temperature pyrolysis system that was calibrated using Vienna standard mean ocean water (VSMOW) and standard light Antartic precipitation (SLAP) internationally distributed reference water samples. Especially for organic materials, discrepancies between reported and measured values were high, ranging up to 2 per thousand. The reasons for these discrepancies are discussed and the need for an exact and reliable calibration of existing reference materials, as well as for the establishment of additional organic and inorganic reference materials is stressed. We have studied the mechanism of the initial stages of nitrogen-doped single-walled carbon nanotube growth illustrated for the case of a floating catalyst chemical vapor deposition system, which uses carbon monoxide (CO) and ammonia (NH(3)) as precursors and iron as a catalyst. We performed first-principles electronic-structure calculations, fully incorporating the effects of spin polarization and magnetic moments, to investigate the bonding and chemistry of CO, NH(3), and their fragments on a model Fe(55) icosahedral cluster. A possible dissociation path for NH(3) to atomic nitrogen and hydrogen was identified, with a reaction barrier consistent with an experimentally determined value we measured by tandem infrared and mass spectrometry. Both C-C and C-N bond formation reactions were found to be barrierless and exothermic, while a parasitic reaction of HCN formation had a barrier of over 1 eV.  相似文献

Long echo time (TE=270 ms) in vivo proton NMR spectra resembling human brain metabolite patterns were simulated for lineshape fitting (LF) and quantitative artificial neural network (ANN) analyses. A set of experimental in vivo 1H NMR spectra were first analyzed by the LF method to match the signal-to-noise ratios and linewidths of simulated spectra to those in the experimental data. The performance of constructed ANNs was compared for the peak area determinations of choline-containing compounds (Cho), total creatine (Cr), and N-acetyl aspartate (NAA) signals using both manually phase-corrected and magnitude spectra as inputs. The peak area data from ANN and LF analyses for simulated spectra yielded high correlation coefficients demonstrating that the peak areas quantified with ANN gave similar results as LF analysis. Thus, a fully automated ANN method based on magnitude spectra has demonstrated potential for quantification of in vivo metabolites from long echo time spectroscopic imaging.  相似文献

A review is presented of the calculation of photoionization spectra, particularly in the spectral range where electron autoionization of diatomic molecules takes place. In addition to some interesting results obtained over years that compare favourably with experiment, the emphasis here is put on the relation between the methods developed for the calculation of observables associated with the continuum energy spectrum of the electrons and the Alchemy system of programs. This system of programs serves as a basis for initial and intermediate calculations. The examples presented show that diatomic molecules not only in gas phase but also oriented in space or physisorbed at surfaces may be studied readily.  相似文献

Characteristics of the blood-oxygenation-level-dependent (BOLD) functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) signal poststimulus undershoot in the visual cortex were studied at varying levels of arterial blood oxygen saturation (Ysat). Undershoot with an amplitude of -0.6+/-0.2% appeared after positive BOLD response (+1.7+/-0.5%) under control conditions. Cerebral blood volume (CBV), as determined with vascular-space-occupancy-dependent fMRI, increased by 26-43% during the positive BOLD peak, but the CBV proceeded at baseline level during the BOLD poststimulus undershoot. Mild hypoxic hypoxia (Ysat ranging from 0.82 to 0.89) had no effect on the amplitude or duration of poststimulus undershoot in activated BOLD pixels. Hypoxia did not influence CBV during the BOLD poststimulus undershoot. In contrast, the positive BOLD signal at the level of all activated pixels was smaller in hypoxia than in normoxia. The present results show that the BOLD poststimulus undershoot is not influenced by curtailed oxygen availability and that, during the undershoot, CBV is not different from resting state.  相似文献

Fmoc-protected trans-4-methylproline was synthesized starting from D-serine. The chiral scaffold of serine in the form of olefinated Garner's aldehyde 3 was used to control the diastereoselective formation of the new stereocenter on the hydrogenation of allylic alcohol 4. The diastereoselectivity (syn/anti ratio) of the process was 86:14, attained with Raney nickel. Hydrogen migration seems not to be the sole factor lowering the diastereoselectivity, as nickel is known not to promote double-bond migration. Instead, the moderate stereocontrol is attributed to the mobility of the side chain of 4, which allows the attack of hydrogen on both faces of the olefin (open transition state). A series of transformations led to ring precursor 8, which after recrystallization afforded the syn diastereoisomer in dr = 95:5. Protected trans-4-methylproline 11 was obtained from 8 in a straightforward fashion.  相似文献

The region of the lowest fundamental bands ν11 and ν15 of allene-1,1-d2 around 300 cm?1 was studied at a resolution near 0.010 cm?1. The bands are of type c and b, respectively, and they were analyzed in terms of first- and second-order a-Coriolis resonance to yield a number of upper-state constants. Ground-state combination differences were analyzed simultaneously with the microwave measurements of Hirota and Matsumura [J. Chem. Phys.59, 3038–3042 (1973)] to yield the rotational ground-state constants and four of the quartic distortion constants.  相似文献

An HMX/insulin two-layer system was chosen as a model for further investigation of the matrix properties of explosive materials for protein analytes in plasma desorption mass spectrometry. The dependencies of the molecular ion yield and average charge state as a function of the analyte thickness were studied. An increase in the charge state of multiply protonated molecular species was confirmed as the major matrix effect, with the average charge state z at the smallest thickness studied being higher than in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization and closer to the value obtained in electrospray ionization under standard acidic conditions. Observed charge state distributions are significantly narrower than the corresponding Poisson distributions, which suggests that the protonation of insulin is limited in plasma desorption by the number of basic sites in the molecule, similar to electrospray ionization. Both the curve displaying total molecular ion yield and the one showing the total charge (proton) yield as a function of the insulin thickness have maxima at a thickness different from an insulin monolayer. These observations diminish the significance of a matrix/analyte interface mechanism for the explosive matrix assistance. Instead, a mechanism related to the chemical energy release during conversion of the explosive after the ion impact is proposed. As additional mechanisms, enhanced protonation of the analyte through collisions with products of the explosive decay is considered, as well as electron scavenging by other products, which leads to a higher survival probability of positively charged protein molecular ions.
