A sequential injection system to monitor glycerol in a Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation process was developed. The method relies on the rate of formation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide in its reduced form (NADH, measured spectrophotometrically at 340 nm) from the reaction of glycerol with NAD+ cofactor, catalysed by the enzyme glycerol dehydrogenase present in solution. This procedure enables the determination of glycerol between 0.046 and 0.46 g/l, (corresponding to yeast fermentation samples with concentrations up to 50 g/l) with good repeatability (relative standard deviation for n = 10 lower than 2.2% for three different samples) at a sampling frequency of 25/h. The detection and quantification limits using a miniaturised spectrophotometer were 0.13 and 0.44 mM, respectively. Reagent consumption was of 0.45 μmol NAD+ and 1.8 μg enzyme per assay, and the waste production was 2.8 ml per determination. Results obtained for samples were in agreement with those obtained with a high-performance liquid chromatography method.  相似文献

Thin films of organic-inorganic hybrid materials have been grown by the atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique, using trimethylaluminium (TMA) and aromatic carboxylic acids such as 1,2-benzene dicarboxylic acid, 1,3-benzene dicarboxylic acid, 1,4-benzene dicarboxylic acid, 1,3,5-benzene tricarboxylic acid, 1,2,4,5-benzene tetracarboxylic acid as precursors. Growth rates as function of temperature show that all systems, with the exception of the benzoic acid-TMA system, possess ALD-windows and provides growth rates in the range of 0.25-1.34 nm/cycle. X-ray diffraction studies of the as-deposited films reveal their amorphous character, which is also supported by very low surface roughness as measured by atomic force microscopy. As-deposited films were investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy proving that the deposited films are of a hybrid character.  相似文献

The influence of antiretroviral drug zidovudine treatment during pregnancy on mandible development in newborn rats was studied. The fluorescence of mandibles from 7-, 14- and 28-days old individuals was measured by means of fiber-optical fluorescence analyzer with 407 nm laser excitation. Obtained results revealed disturbing effect of maternal zidovudine administration on mandible fluorescence intensity which should decrease with bone development. Small changes in fluorescence of porphyrin forms are maintaining in the first month of newborns life while the changes observed in 440–585 nm range disappear.  相似文献

Using low-temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy applied to the Cs-induced two-dimensional electron system (2DES) on p-type InSb(110), we probe electron-electron interaction effects in the quantum Hall regime. The 2DES is decoupled from bulk states and exhibits spreading resistance within the insulating quantum Hall phases. In quantitative agreement with calculations we find an exchange enhancement of the spin splitting. Moreover, we observe that both the spatially averaged as well as the local density of states feature a characteristic Coulomb gap at the Fermi level. These results show that electron-electron interaction can be probed down to a resolution below all relevant length scales.  相似文献

We present a fractional-order extension of the Bloch equations to describe anomalous NMR relaxation phenomena (T(1) and T(2)). The model has solutions in the form of Mittag-Leffler and stretched exponential functions that generalize conventional exponential relaxation. Such functions have been shown by others to be useful for describing dielectric and viscoelastic relaxation in complex, heterogeneous materials. Here, we apply these fractional-order T(1) and T(2) relaxation models to experiments performed at 9.4 and 11.7 Tesla on type I collagen gels, chondroitin sulfate mixtures, and to bovine nasal cartilage (BNC), a largely isotropic and homogeneous form of cartilage. The results show that the fractional-order analysis captures important features of NMR relaxation that are typically described by multi-exponential decay models. We find that the T(2) relaxation of BNC can be described in a unique way by a single fractional-order parameter (α), in contrast to the lack of uniqueness of multi-exponential fits in the realistic setting of a finite signal-to-noise ratio. No anomalous behavior of T(1) was observed in BNC. In the single-component gels, for T(2) measurements, increasing the concentration of the largest components of cartilage matrix, collagen and chondroitin sulfate, results in a decrease in α, reflecting a more restricted aqueous environment. The quality of the curve fits obtained using Mittag-Leffler and stretched exponential functions are in some cases superior to those obtained using mono- and bi-exponential models. In both gels and BNC, α appears to account for micro-structural complexity in the setting of an altered distribution of relaxation times. This work suggests the utility of fractional-order models to describe T(2) NMR relaxation processes in biological tissues.  相似文献

In Morse theory an isolated degenerate critical point can be resolved into a finite number of nondegenerate critical points by perturbing the totally degenerate part of the Morse function inside the domain of a generalized Morse chart. Up to homotopy we can admit pertubations within the whole characteristic manifold. The possibility of on-line membrane size-fractionation of water components and simultaneous separation of particulate and dissolved matter at each filtration stage has been shown. The distribution patterns have been studied for As, Fe and Mn in effluent samples of tin ore tailings (Altenberg, Saxony, Germany). The seepage composition is characterized by high concentrations of Fe and As. The particulate and dissolved components were separated in five fractions between 0.025 and 8 μm. It was suggested that the distribution patterns of As and Fe compounds depend on the chemical conditions at the sampling sites. Manganese exists mainly in solvated forms in the liquid fractions.  相似文献

A scanning tunneling microscope operating at 5 K is used to induce the isomerization of single chloronitrobenzene molecules on Cu(111) and verify the reaction. The threshold voltage of (227+/-7) mV for this reaction is explained based on electron-induced vibrational heating. We propose that the isomerization is initiated by simultaneous excitation of two vibrational molecular modes via inelastically tunneling electrons. This excitation results in a shift of the distribution probability of chlorine and hydrogen positions, which facilitates their mutual exchange.  相似文献
