Photoinduced phase transitions caused by photochromic reactions bring about a change in the state of matter at constant temperature. Herein, we report the photoinduced phase transitions of crystals of a photoresponsive macrocyclic compound bearing two azobenzene groups ( 1 ) at room temperature on irradiation with UV (365 nm) and visible (436 nm) light. The trans/trans isomer undergoes photoinduced phase transitions (crystal–isotropic phase–crystal) on UV light irradiation. The photochemically generated crystal exhibited reversible phase transitions between the crystal and the mesophase on UV and visible light irradiation. The molecular order of the randomly oriented crystals could be increased by irradiating with linearly polarized visible light, and the value of the order parameter was determined to be ?0.84. Heating enhances the thermal cis‐to‐trans isomerization and subsequent cooling returned crystals of the trans/trans isomer. 相似文献

A versatile method for the synthesis of dibenzo[g,p]chrysene (DBC) derivatives based on regio‐ and stereoselective stannyllithiation to diarylacetylenes is described. This method affords a variety of DBCs possessing both electron‐donating and electron‐withdrawing functional groups. These twisted molecules take brickwork packing structures in single crystals. Thus, ambipolar carrier transport properties with mobility values of up to 10?3 cm2 V?1 s?1 in the amorphous state were achieved. Functional groups on DBC frameworks are considered to increase carrier mobility through the enhancement of intermolecular interactions in the brickwork packing structures. 相似文献

We demonstrate that multi-fluorinated boron-fused azobenzene (BAz) complexes can work as a strong electron acceptor in electron donor-acceptor (D-A) type π-conjugated polymers. Position-dependent substitution effects were revealed, and the energy level of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) was critically decreased by fluorination. As a result, the obtained polymers showed near-infrared (NIR) emission (λPL=758–847 nm) with high absolute photoluminescence quantum yield (ΦPL=7–23%) originating from low-lying LUMO energy levels of the BAz moieties (−3.94 to −4.25 eV). Owing to inherent solid-state emissive properties of the BAz units, deeper NIR emission (λPL=852980 nm) was detected in film state. Clear solvent effects prove that the NIR emission is from a charge transfer state originating from a strong D-A interaction. The effects of fluorination on the frontier orbitals are well understandable and predictable by theoretical calculation with density functional theory. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of fluorination to the BAz units for producing a strong electron-accepting unit through fine-tuning of energy gaps, which can be the promising strategy for designing NIR absorptive and emissive materials. 相似文献

A report is made on a comprehensive observation of a burstlike gamma-ray emission from thunderclouds on the Sea of Japan, during strong thunderstorms on 6 January 2007. The detected emission, lasting for approximately 40 sec, preceded cloud-to-ground lightning discharges. The burst spectrum, extending to 10 MeV, can be interpreted as consisting of bremsstrahlung photons originating from relativistic electrons. This ground-based observation provides the first clear evidence that strong electric fields in thunderclouds can continuously accelerate electrons beyond 10 MeV prior to lightning discharges. 相似文献

We made a study of controlling diameters of well-aligned ZnO nanorods grown by low-pressure thermal chemical vapor deposition combined with laser ablation of a sintered ZnO target, which was developed by us. Until now, it has been impossible to control diameters of ZnO nanorods, while the growth orientation was maintained well-aligned. In this study we developed a multi-step growth method to fabricate well-aligned nanorods whose diameters could be controlled. Metal Zn vapor and O2 are used as precursors to grow ZnO nanorods. N2 is used as a carrier gas for the precursors. A substrate is an n-Si (111) wafer. A sintered ZnO target is placed near the substrate and ablated by a Nd–YAG pulsed laser during ZnO nanorod growth. The growth temperature is 530 C and the pressure is 66.5 Pa. A vertical growth orientation of ZnO nanorods to the substrate is realized in the first-step growth although the diameter cannot be controlled in this step. When an O2 flow rate is 1.5 sccm, well-aligned nanorods with 100 nm diameter are grown. Next, the second-step nanorods are grown on only the flat tip of the first-step nanorods. The diameters of the second-step nanorods can be controlled by adjusting the O2 flow rate, and the growth direction is kept the same as that of the first-step nanorods. When the O2 flow rate in second-step growth is smaller than 0.6 sccm, the diameter of the second-step nanorods is 30–50 nm. When the O2 flow rate is between 0.75 and 3.0 sccm, the diameter is almost same as that of the first-step nanorods. When the O2 flow rate is larger than 4.5 sccm, the diameter is increased with increasing O2 flow rate. Further, the third-step ZnO nanorods with gradually increased diameters can be grown on the second-step nanorods with 1.5 sccm O2 flow rate and without laser ablation. 相似文献

The sum of the flexo-coefficients (e11+e33) was measured by the capacitance characteristic depending on the applied dc voltage in the HAN cell. The voltage for the minimum value of the capacitance was shifted by the influence of flexoelectric effect. One of the important problems for the evaluation for the flexo effect was the influence of impurity ions. Then, the chromatographic isolation phenomenon was used to separate impurity ions when the LC material was injected into the empty cell by the capillary action. The coefficient (e11+e33) of ZLI-4792 was measured, and a value of 26.0 pC/m was obtained. 相似文献

The enantioselective direct Mannich‐type reaction of ketimines with α‐isocyanoacetates has been developed. Excellent yields and enantioselectivity were observed for the reaction of various ketimines and α‐isocyanoacetates using cinchona alkaloid/Cu(OTf)2 and a base. Both enantiomers of the products could be obtained by using pseudoenantiomeric chiral catalysts. This process offers an efficient route for the synthesis of α,β‐diamino acids. 相似文献
