We report scanning tunneling microscopy of semiconductor-semiconductor carbon nanotube junctions with different band gaps. Characteristic features of the wave functions at different energy levels, such as a localized defect state, are clearly exhibited in the atomically resolved scanning tunneling spectroscopy. The peaks of the Van Hove singularity on each side penetrate and decay into the opposite side across the junction over a distance of approximately 2 nm. These experimental features are accounted for, with the help of tight-binding calculation, by the presence of pentagon-heptagon pair defects at the junction.  相似文献

Percolation transitions (PTs) of networks, leading to the formation of a macroscopic cluster, are conventionally considered to be continuous transitions. However, a modified version of the classical random graph model was introduced in which the growth of clusters was suppressed, and a PT occurs explosively at a delayed transition point. Whether the explosive PT is indeed discontinuous or continuous becomes controversial. Here, we show that the behavior of the explosive PT depends on detailed dynamic rules. Thus, when dynamic rules are designed to suppress the growth of all clusters, the discontinuity of the order parameter tends to a finite value as the system size increases, indicating that the explosive PT could be discontinuous.  相似文献

Intermolecular structures of porous two-dimensional supramolecular networks are studied using scanning tunnelling microscopy combined with density functional theory calculations. The local configurations of halogen bonds in polymorphic porous supramolecular networks are directly visualized in support of previous bulk crystal studies.  相似文献

Donor and acceptor-like electronic states were observed near the conduction and valence band, respectively, in a semiconducting single-wall carbon nanotube using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. They are observed to be, spatially, at the same location and spread within a few nm. Their physical origin is suggested as locally formed excessive and deficient number of electrons per a closed carbon network.  相似文献

We investigate the avalanche dynamics of the Bak-Tang-Wiesenfeld sandpile model on scale-free (SF) networks, where the threshold height of each node is distributed heterogeneously, given as its own degree. We find that the avalanche size distribution follows a power law with an exponent tau. Applying the theory of the multiplicative branching process, we obtain the exponent tau and the dynamic exponent z as a function of the degree exponent gamma of SF networks as tau=gamma divided by (gamma-1) and z=(gamma-1) divided by (gamma-2) in the range 23, with a logarithmic correction at gamma=3. The analytic solution supports our numerical simulation results. We also consider the case of a uniform threshold, finding that the two exponents reduce to the mean-field ones.  相似文献

Percolation is the paradigm for random connectivity and has been one of the most applied statistical models. With simple geometrical rules a transition is obtained which is related to magnetic models. This transition is, in all dimensions, one of the most robust continuous transitions known. We present a very brief overview of more than 60 years of work in this area and discuss several open questions for a variety of models, including classical, explosive, invasion, bootstrap, and correlated percolation.  相似文献

We calculate the mean neighboring degree function and the mean clustering function C(k) of vertices with degree k as a function of k in finite scale-free random networks through the static model. While both are independent of k when the degree exponent γ≥3, they show the crossover behavior for 2 < γ< 3 from k-independent behavior for small k to k-dependent behavior for large k. The k-dependent behavior is analytically derived. Such a behavior arises from the prevention of self-loops and multiple edges between each pair of vertices. The analytic results are confirmed by numerical simulations. We also compare our results with those obtained from a growing network model, finding that they behave differently from each other.  相似文献

We propose a simple laser diode module that consists of a Fabry–Perot laser diode (FP-LD) and a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) for a compact, stable and low-cost wavelength division multiplexing light source. The spectral bandwidth of the laser output from the FP-LD/FBG module was measured to be 0.024 nm. The side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) was 44.42 dB at the injected electric current of 14 mA and at 25 °C. Both the BER characteristics and the eye diagram were measured, and they confirmed that the present laser diode module could be used as an alternative configuration for a low-cost light source.  相似文献
