The hydration reaction of ethylene, C2H4+H2O → C2H5OH, catalyzed by oxoacids (H3PO4, H2SO4, and HClO4) and metal cations (B3+, Al3+, Sc3+, Ga3+, La3+, Be2+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Zn2+, and Sr2+) are studied systematically by density functional theory with a BLYP functional. The reaction profiles of the main reaction and some side reactions, such as ester formation, dimerization of ethylene, and dehydrogenation of ethanol, have been determined with a variety of catalysts. In each case, the intermediate states, the transition states, and their energetics are calculated. Metal cations react more efficiently for the main reaction than oxoacids, but they also make the dehydrogenation reaction active. While the dimerization reaction is strongly affected by the acidity of the catalyst, both the acidity and basicity of the catalyst are important for the dehydrogenation reaction. Coordination of π-conjugated polymers to transition metals constructs a novel redox system due to interchangeable various oxidation states of the polymers, which permits transition metals to interact with each other through a π-conjugate chain. The redox characteristics were found to depend on the electronic interaction with metals and the doping. A combination of copper(II) or iron(III) chloride and polyanilines afforded the complex catalysts with the higher oxidation capability for dehydrogenative oxidation. A catalytic system was also realized in the transition-metal-induced oxidation reaction, in which π-conjugated polymers serve as redox-active ligands participating in the reversible redox cycle. The Wacker oxidation of terminal olefins proceeded catalytically in the presence of a catalytic amount of polyaniline or polypyrrole derivative under oxygen.  相似文献

Boron carbonitride (BCN) films have been synthesized on Si(1 0 0) substrate by radio frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition using tris-(dimethylamino)borane (TDMAB) as a precursor. The deposition was performed at the different RF powers of 400-800 W, at the working pressure of 2×10−1 Torr. The formation of the sp2-bonded BCN phase was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements showed that B atoms were bonded to C and N atoms to form the BCN atomic hybrid configurations with the chemical compositions of B52C12N36 (sample 1; prepared at the RF power of 400 W), B52C10N38 (sample 2; at 500 W) and B46C18N36 (sample 3; at 800 W), respectively. Near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) measurements indicated that B atoms were bonded not only to N atoms but also to C atoms to form various configurations of sp2-BCN atomic hybrids. The polarization dependence of NEXAFS suggested that the predominant hybrid configuration of sp2-BCN films oriented in the direction perpendicular to the Si substrate.  相似文献

Photodynamic therapy mediated by 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA-PDT) has been developed as a therapeutic modality for refractory superficial bladder cancers. Here, in experiments using urothelial cancer cell lines, we investigated the effects of siRNA modulating heme-synthetic and degradation pathways for ALA-PDT. Targeted knockdown of ferrochelatase (FECH) suppressed heme synthesis and significantly increased intracellular protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) accumulation, leading to enhanced phototoxicity in four of five cell lines. Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) is recognized as important for cytoprotection against oxidative stress such as PDT. Targeted knockdown of HO-1 leads to decreased intracellular PpIX accumulation, resulting in a failure to enhance ALA-PDT effect in four cell lines. Knockdown of HO-1 caused marked growth inhibition in UM-UC-2 overexpressing HO-1, whereas no inhibitory effect was observed in UM-UC-3 lacking HO-1 expression. Moreover, HO-1 protein levels and (GT) n repeat polymorphism of the HO-1 gene promoter region were examined with the implication that the constitutive expressions of HO-1 protein were associated with a shorter (GT) n repeat. Our results suggested that (1) FECH siRNA improved the phototoxicity of ALA-PDT, (2) overexpression of HO-1 was associated with shorter (GT) n repeat of the promoter region, and (3) siRNA-mediated knockdown of HO-1 could suppress the growth of bladder cancer cells overexpressing HO-1.  相似文献

Quasiclassical ab initio simulations of the ionization dynamics in a (H(2)O)(17) cluster, the first water cluster that includes a fourfold coordinated (internally solvated) water molecule, have been carried out to obtain a detailed picture of the elementary processes and energy redistribution induced by ionization in a model of aqueous water. General features observable from the simulations are the following: (i) well within 100 fs following the ionization, one or more proton transfers are seen to take place from the "ionized molecule" to neighboring molecules and beyond, forming a hydronium ion and a hydroxyl radical; (ii) two water molecules close to the ionized water molecule play an important role in the reaction, in what we term a "reactive trimer." The reaction time is gated by the encounter of the ionized water molecule with these two neighboring molecules, and this occurs anytime between 10 and 50 fs after the ionization. The distances of approach between the ionized molecule and the neighboring molecules indeed display best the time characteristics of the transfer of a proton, and thus of the formation of a hydronium ion and a OH radical. These findings are consistent with those for smaller cyclic clusters, albeit the dynamics of the proton transfer displays more varieties in the larger cluster than in the small cyclic clusters. We used a partitioning scheme for the kinetic energy in the (H(2)O)(17) system that distinguishes between the reactive trimer and the surrounding "medium." The analysis of the simulations indicates that the kinetic energy of the surrounding medium increases markedly right after the event of ionization, a manifestation of the local heating of the medium. The increase in kinetic energy is consistent with a reorganization of the surrounding medium, electrostatically forced in a very short time by the water cation and in a longer time by the formation of the hydronium ion.  相似文献

A ballpoint-pen-type portable ultrasonic oscillator is developed for quantitative measurement of Young’s modulus on a solid. It consists of an electrodeless rod-shaped langasite oscillator with a tungsten-carbide spherical-shaped tip at the end, permanent magnets for making a constant force at the contact interface, and antennas for exciting and detecting the longitudinal vibration contactlessly. The resonance frequency of the oscillator is changed by contact with the specimen, reflecting Young’s modulus of the specimen at the contact area. The langasite oscillator is supported at the nodal points so that its acoustical contact occurs only at the specimen, making a calibration-free measurement realistic. Young’s moduli of various specimens were evaluated within 15% error just by touching the specimens with the probe. The error becomes smaller than 10% for lower Young-modulus materials (<∼<150 GPa).  相似文献

A novel use of GaAs, namely, as a scaffold for a heterogeneous palladium catalyst, is proposed. Hydroxy groups on the GaAs surface play important roles. During the adsorption of Pd(OAc)(2) on the GaAs surface, the hydroxy groups attract Pd(ii) species by anion exchange. A subsequent redox reaction proceeds to generate Pd(0) nanoparticles, which are stabilized on the GaAs surface. This process is confirmed by surface-sensitive measurements: diffuse reflection IR spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Moreover, a more bulk-sensitive measurement, hard X-ray photoemission spectroscopy with synchrotron radiation, also supported our considerations. The amounts of Pd(0) nanoparticles on the surface were evaluated by catalytic activity, yield, and recyclability in the Heck reaction, in addition to the deposit test.  相似文献

Toward the expansion of the genetic alphabet of DNA, several artificial third base pairs (unnatural base pairs) have been created. Synthetic DNAs containing the unnatural base pairs can be amplified faithfully by PCR, along with the natural A-T and G-C pairs, and transcribed into RNA. The unnatural base pair systems now have high potential to open the door to next generation biotechnology. The creation of unnatural base pairs is a consequence of repeating "proof of concept" experiments. In the process, initially designed base pairs were modified to address their weak points. Some of them were artificially evolved to ones with higher efficiency and selectivity in polymerase reactions, while others were eliminated from the analysis. An anthracene-linked bisphenalenyl Kekulé molecule with very significant singlet biradical character has shown a prominent covalent bonding interaction between molecules in a molecular aggregate.
