Rearrangement correction to higher polarizabilities of two-electron systems

In this paper we include the rearrangement correction (discussed in the preceding paper) in a coupled Hartree–Fock (CHF) calculation of atomic hyperpolarizabilities and other related properties. We have studied the effect of these corrections on properties like electric dipole hyperpolarizabilities, uniform electric field quadrupole polarizabilities and shielding factors in two-electron ions and have noticed significant changes in the computed values over the CHF results.

Die Bildungskonstanten der Wasserstoff—Fluor-Komplexe in konzentrierten Salzlösungen

Zusammenfassung Die Bildungskonstanten von HF und HF2^–in NaClO₄-Medien wurden aus Messungen mit einer Chinhydron- und einer LaF₃-Membranelektrode bestimmt. Die Bildungskonstanten bei den Ionenstärken 1–, 2–, 3– und 4M werden mit Hilfe einesDebye—Hückel-Ansatzes als Funktion der Ionenstärke dargestellt. Durch Extrapolation auf unendliche Verdünnung werden die thermodynamischen Bildungskonstanten bei 25°C erhalten. Die mit Hilfe der Chinhydronelektrode und der LaF₃-Membranelektrode erhaltenen Ergebnisse werden verglichen und kritisch gewertet.

Stability constants of hydrogen fluorides in concentrated salt media; Measurements with aLaF ₃-membrane electrode

Formation constants of HF and HF2^– in NaClO₄ media were determined from measurements with a quinhydrone and a LaF₃-membrane electrode. The formation constants at 1,2,3, and 4M ionic strength are presented as a function of the ionic strength through aDebye—Hückel approximation. Extrapolation to infinite dilution gives the thermodynamic stability constants at 25°C. The results obtained from measurements with a quinhydrone and a LaF₃-membrane electrode are compared and critically evaluated.

Generalized mean-square amplitudes of vibration in some XY4 type ions (II)

The generalized mean-square amplitudes of vibration and mean amplitudes of vibration have been computed for CrO^3-₄, Mn¹⁸O^-₄, MoSe^2-₄ and WSe^2-₄ ions at three temperatures, T = 0°K, T = 298°K, T = 500°K, employing Cyvin's method. The results have been discussed in the light of atomic weight and electronegativity of the atom in the ionic system.

Résumé Par chauffage à 1000° de mélanges d'oxyde stannique et d'oxyde de cadmium en proportions diverses, comme par déshydratation de précipités mixtes des hydroxydes correspondants, il se forme une série de solutions solides de l'oxyde de cadmium dans l'oxyde d'étain. Elles sont solubles dans l'acide chlorhydrique et présentent un spectre d'absorption infrarouge caractéristique que l'on a comparé avec celui des 2 métastannates de cadmium CdSnO₃, l'un de type ilménite, l'autre de type perovskite.

Summary By heating various mixture of stannic oxide and cadmium oxide to 1000° C, a series of solid solutions of cadmium oxide in stannic oxide results as is the case when mixed precipitates of the corresponding hydroxides are dehydrated. They are soluble in hydrochloric acid and yield a characteristic infrared absorption spectrum that was compared with that of the two cadmium métastannates CdSnO₃, one of the ilmenite type, the other of the perovskite type.

Zusammenfassung Erhitzt man verschieden zusammengesetzte Gemische von Zinnoxid und Cadmiumoxid auf 1000° C oder werden Mischfällungen der entsprechenden Hydroxide dehydratisiert, so entsteht eine Reihe fester Lösungen von Cadmiumoxid in Zinnoxid. Sie sind in Salzsäure löslich und zeigen ein charakteristisches Absorptionsspektrum im IR. Dieses wurde mit dem Spektrum zweier Cadmium-Metastannate (CdSnO₃) vom Typus des Ilmenits bzw. Perovskits verglichen.

     

Molecular and absolute crystal structure of pindolol-1-(1H-indol-4-yloxy)-3-[(1-methylethyl)amino]-2-propanol: A specific beta-adrenoreceptor antagonist with partial agonist activity

The crystal and molecular structure of pindolol, 1-(1H indol-4-yloxy)-3-[(1-methylethyl)amino]-2-propanol, has been determined by direct methods. Crystals are tetragonal, ,a=b=15.809(4),c=11.246(2) Å,Z=8,D _c=1.174 mg m^–3. The finalR-factor for 2271 reflections withI>2(I) is 0.038. Refinement by full-matrix least-squares on F² also enabled the absolute configuration of the structure to be established. The molecule is essentially planar, including much of the side-chain which is stabilized by the existence of two intramolecular H-bonds, between the ethyl oxygen and OH group, and between the OH and side-chain amide groups, respectively. The crystal structure is formed by three intermolecular hydrogen bonds including two side-chain-side-chain interactions, between ethyl oxygen to amide and OH to amide, and an interaction between the side-chain OH to indole NH.
