Two different cationic polymers of the same chemical type and with very similar chemical structures were reacted with a natural bentonite over a wide range of polymer/clay ratios. This study involved the synthesis of cationic aliphatic ammonium polyionenes, specifically 3,6-ionene and 3,6-dodecylionene. Ionenes are ion-containing polymers that contain quaternary nitrogen atoms in the main macromolecular chain as opposed to a pendant chain. The CHN content, basal spacing, and elemental composition of each of the polymer–clay complexes were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, and thermogravimetry. All the polycations reacted to form interlayer complexes with clay, which displaced more Na+ and little Ca2+. Sodium and calcium were both present as interlayer cations in the clay and its complexes. The TG/DTG curves show that both polymers underwent thermal degradation in more than one stage. Specifically, 3,6-ionene was found to undergo two stages of decomposition and 3,6-dodecylionene undergo three stages. The behavior of the TG/DTG curves and the activation energy values suggest that 3,6-dodecylionene (E = 174,85 kJ mol?1) complexes have greater thermal stability than 3,6-ionene (E = 115,52 kJ mol?1) complexes. The mechanism of degradation suggests a direct interaction with the dodecyl chain containing 12 carbons, which are present in 3,6-dodecylionene but not in 3,6-ionene. 相似文献
Cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) prepared from eucalyptus cellulose CNCs were modified by the reaction with methyl adipoyl chloride, CNCm, or with a mixture of acetic and sulfuric acid, CNCa. The CNC were either dispersed at 0.1 wt% in the pure solvents ethyl acetate (EA), tetrahydrofuran (THF) and dimethylformamide (DMF) or in cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) solutions prepared in these solvents at 0.9 wt%. The colloidal behavior of these dispersions was systematically investigated using a phase separation analyzer LUMiReader®. The mechanical properties and morphological features of the films resulting from the mixtures of CAB and CNC were determined by dynamic mechanical analysis, optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy, respectively. Regardless the functional group attached to the surface of CNC, the best colloidal stability was observed for dispersions prepared in CAB/DMF solution. Higher degree of substitution of modified CNCs favored the colloidal stability in EA and THF. Composite films prepared from CAB/DMF solutions were more homogeneous and presented better mechanical performance than those prepared in CAB/EA or CAB/THF. The mechanical performance of composites and neat CAB prepared from DMF was CAB/CNCs > CAB/CNCm > CAB/CNCa > CAB, indicating that the modification weakens the percolation process, which is mediated by H bonding. 相似文献
The aim of this study was to find if fast microwave‐assisted extraction could be an alternative to the conventional Soxhlet extraction for the quantification of rotenone in yam bean seeds by SPE and HPLC‐UV. For this purpose, an experimental design was used to determine the optimal conditions of the microwave extraction. Then the values of the quantification on three accessions from two different species of yam bean seeds were compared using the two different kinds of extraction. A microwave extraction of 11 min at 55°C using methanol/dichloromethane (50:50) allowed rotenone extraction either equivalently or more efficiently than the 8‐h‐Soxhlet extraction method and was less sensitive to moisture content. The selectivity, precision, trueness, accuracy, and limit of quantification of the method with microwave extraction were also demonstrated. 相似文献
Recombinant 6mer + BSP protein, combining six repeats of the consensus sequence for Nephila clavipes dragline (6mer) and bone sialoprotein sequence (BSP), shows good support for cell viability and induces the nucleation of hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate during osteoblast in vitro culture. The present study is conducted to characterize this bioengineered protein‐based biomaterial further for in vivo behavior related to biocompatibility. 6mer + BSP protein films are implanted in subcutaneous pouches in the back of mice and responses are evaluated by flow cytometry and histology. The results show no major differences between the inflammatory responses induced by 6mer + BSP films and the responses observed for the controls. Thus, this new chimeric protein could represent an alternative for bone regeneration applications.
We report a new nonenzymatic amperometric detection of ascorbic acid (AA) using a glassy carbon (GC) disk electrode modified with hollow gold/ruthenium (hAu–Ru) nanoshells, which exhibited decent sensing characteristics. The hAu–Ru nanoshells were prepared by the incorporation of Ru on hollow gold (hAu) nanoshells from Co nanoparticle templates, which enabled AA selectivity against glucose without aid of enzyme or membrane. The structure and electrocatalytic activities of the hAu–Ru catalysts were characterized by spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques. The hAu–Ru loaded on GC electrode (hAu–Ru/GC) showed sensitivity of 426 μA mM−1 cm−2 (normalized to the GC disk area) for the linear dynamic range of <5 μM to 2 mM AA at physiological pH. The response time and detection limit were 1.6 s and 2.2 μM, respectively. Furthermore, the hAu–Ru/GC electrode displayed remarkable selectivity for ascorbic acid over all potential biological interferents, including glucose, uric acid (UA), dopamine (DA), 4-acetamidophenol (AP), and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), which could be especially good for biological sensing. 相似文献
S-doped TiO2(S-TiO2) films were immobilized on flexible low-cost aluminum sheets(S-TiO2-AS) using a sol-gel dipping process and low post-processing temperatures. The photocatalytic degradation of toxic organic vapors using the prepared films was evaluated using a continuous-flow glass tube under visible light exposure. The surface properties of the S-TiO2-AS and TiO2-AS films were examined by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The photolysis of benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene(BTEX) did not occur on the bare AS. In contrast, the photocatalytic degradation efficiencies of the target pollutants using S-TiO2-AS were higher than those obtained using reference TiO2-AS photocatalyst. In particular, the average photocatalytic degradation efficiencies of BTEX using S-TiO2-0.8-AS(S/Ti ratio = 0.8) over a 3-h process were 34%, 78%, 91%, and 94%, respectively, whereas those of TiO2-AS were 2%, 11%, 21%, and 36%, respectively. The photocatalytic decompo-sition efficiencies of BTEX under visible irradiation using S-TiO2-AS increased with increasing S/Ti ratios from 0.2 to 0.8, but decreased when the ratio further increased to 1.6. Thus, S-TiO2-AS can be prepared using optimal S/Ti ratios. The degradation of BTEX over S-TiO2-AS depended on the air flow rates and initial concentrations of the target chemical. Overall, under optimal conditions, S-TiO2-AS can be effectively applied for the purification of toxic organic vapors. 相似文献
Production of multiple xylanases, in which each enzyme has a specific characteristic, can be one strategy to achieve the effective hydrolysis of xylan. Three xylanases (xyl 1, xyl 2, and xyl 3) from Aspergillus ochraceus were purified by chromatography using diethylaminoethyl (DEAE) cellulose, Biogel P-60, and Sephadex G-100 columns. These enzymes are glycoproteins of low molecular weight with an optimum temperature at 60 °C. The glycosylation presented is apparently not related to thermostability, since xyl 3 (20 % carbohydrate) was more thermostable than xyl 2 (67 % carbohydrate). Xyl 3 was able to retain most of its activity in a wide range of pH (3.5–8.0), while xyl 1 and xyl 2 presented optimum pH of 6.0. Xyl 1 and xyl 2 were activated by 5 and 10 mM MnCl2 and CoCl2, while xyl 3 was activated by 1 mM of the same compounds. Interestingly, xyl 2 presented high tolerance toward mercury ion. Xylanases from A. ochraceus hydrolyzed xylans of different origins, such as birchwood, oat spelt, larchwood, and eucalyptus (around 90 % or more), except xyl 2 and xyl 3 that hydrolyzed with lesser efficiency eucalyptus (66.7 %) and oat spelt (44.8 %) xylans. 相似文献
Search for efficient low-cost substrate/additives are gaining significant impetus in bacterial cellulose (BC) production. Makgeolli sludge (a traditional Korean wine distillery waste) is enriched with organic acid, alcohol, and sugar. Using makgeolli sludge filtrate (MSF) and Hestrin–Schramm (HS) medium (g/l of distilled water: glucose, 10.0; peptone, 5.0; yeast extract, 5.0; disodium phosphate, 2.7; citric acid, 1.15; pH 5.0), two different media—namely the modified HS media (ingredients of HS media except glucose dissolved in MSF) and mixed modified HS media (equal volume mixture of original and modified HS media)—were formulated. BC production with Gluconacetobacter xylinus was studied using the two above referred medium. Keeping HS medium as reference, effect of initial pH, glucose, ethanol, and organic acid concentration on BC production was also studied. It suggests that increasing initial glucose (up to 25 g/l) though improves BC production but results in poor BC yield above 15 g/l of glucose. However, addition of alcohol (up to 1%v/v) or citric acid (up to 20 mM) escalate productivity up to four and two times, respectively. In both modified HS media and mixed modified HS medium, BC production was four to five times higher than that of original HS medium. Even MSF alone surpassed HS medium in BC production. Scanning electron microscopy showed that BC microfibrils from MSF based media were several micrometers long and about 25–60 nm widths. X-ray diffraction patterns suggested the produced BC were of cellulose I polymorph. 相似文献
