Therapeutic iodoform (CHI3) is commonly used as a root-filling material for primary teeth; however, the side effects of iodoform-containing materials, including early root resorption, have been reported. To overcome this problem, a water-soluble iodide (NaI)-incorporated root-filling material was developed. Calcium hydroxide, silicone oil, and NaI were incorporated in different weight proportions (30:30:X), and the resulting material was denoted DX (D5~D30), indicating the NaI content. As a control, iodoform instead of NaI was incorporated at a ratio of 30:30:30, and the material was denoted I30. The physicochemical (flow, film thickness, radiopacity, viscosity, water absorption, solubility, and ion releases) and biological (cytotoxicity, TRAP, ARS, and analysis of osteoclastic markers) properties were determined. The amount of iodine, sodium, and calcium ion releases and the pH were higher in D30 than I30, and the highest level of unknown extracted molecules was detected in I30. In the cell viability test, all groups except 100% D30 showed no cytotoxicity. In the 50% nontoxic extract, D30 showed decreased osteoclast formation compared with I30. In summary, NaI-incorporated materials showed adequate physicochemical properties and low osteoclast formation compared to their iodoform-counterpart. Thus, NaI-incorporated materials may be used as a substitute for iodoform-counterparts in root-filling materials after further (pre)clinical investigation. 相似文献

Here, we consider the secure distribution of such states, i.e., the situation when an adversary gives two parties such states and they have to verify privacy. Evidence for the alteration of the yellow paints in Henri Matisse’s Le Bonheur de vivre (1905–1906, The Barnes Foundation) has been observed since the 1990s. The changes in this iconic work of Matisse’s Fauvist period include lightening, darkening, and flaking of the yellow paints. Handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and multispectral imaging surveys reveal that the degradation is confined to cadmium yellow (CdS) paints. The discoloration of cadmium yellow paints in Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and early modernist work from the 1880s through the 1920s has been ascribed to the photo-oxidative degradation of CdS. Preliminary investigations of the degraded yellow paints in this work involved Cd LIII-edge X-ray Absorption Near Edge Spectroscopy (XANES) at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Light Source (SSRL Menlo Park, California) and Scanning Electron Microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDS) at the Winterthur Museum Scientific Research and Analysis Laboratory. To determine if the visual changes in the paints did in fact indicate photo-oxidative degradation and if different chemistries could be observed for the lightened versus darkened regions, synchrotron radiation-micro Fourier Transform InfraRed (SR-μFTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray Fluorescence (SR-μXRF) mapping and micro X-ray Absorption Near Edge Spectroscopy (μXANES) mapping at the Cd LIII-edge of the altered paint cross-sections were carried out at the European synchrotron radiation facility (ESRF, Grenoble, France) beamline ID-21. The goal is to elucidate the discoloration mechanisms observed in the paint using elemental and speciation mapping. The μXANES mapping and SR-FTIR imaging showed a substantial enrichment of CdCO3 in the off-white surface crust of the faded/discolored CdS paint. This suggests that the CdCO3 is present as an insoluble photodegradation product rather than solely a paint filler or starting reagent. Additionally, oxalates and sulfates were found to be concentrated at the alteration surface. 相似文献

We consider dynamics in a class of piecewise-linear ordinary differential equations and in an electronic circuit that model
genetic networks. In these models, gene activity varies continuously in time. However, as in Boolean or discrete-time switching
networks, gene activity is driven high or low based only on whether the activities of the regulating genes are high or low
(i.e., above or below certain thresholds). Depending on the “regulatory logic”, these models can exhibit simple dynamics,
like stable fixed points or oscillation, or chaotic dynamics. The observed qualitative and quantitative differences between
the dynamics in the idealized equations and the dynamics in the electronic circuit lead us to focus attention on the analysis
of the dynamics as a function of parameter values. We propose new techniques for solving the inverse problem – the problem
of inferring the regulatory logic and parameters from time series data. We also give new symbolic and statistical methods

We discuss the implementation of arbitrary precision composite pulses developed using the methods of Brown et al. [K.R. Brown, A.W. Harrow, I.L. Chuang, Arbitrarily accurate composite pulse sequences, Phys. Rev. A 70 (2004) 052318]. We give explicit results for pulse sequences designed to tackle both the simple case of pulse length errors and the more complex case of off-resonance errors. A new, accurate, global, mass-independent, first-principles potential energy surface (PES) is presented for the ground electronic state of the water molecule. The PES is based on 2200 energy points computed at the all-electron aug-cc-pCV6Z IC-MRCI(8,2) level of electronic structure theory and includes the relativistic one-electron mass-velocity and Darwin corrections. For H216O, the PES has a dissociation energy of D0 = 41 109 cm−1 and supports 1150 vibrational energy levels up to 41 083 cm−1. The deviation between the computed and the experimentally measured energy levels is below 15 cm−1 for all the states with energies less than 39 000 cm−1. Characterization of approximate vibrational quantum numbers is performed using several techniques: energy decomposition, wave function plots, normal mode distribution, expectation values of the squares of internal coordinates, and perturbing the bending part of the PES. Vibrational normal mode labels, though often not physically meaningful, have been assigned to all the states below 26 500 cm−1 and to many more above it, including some highly excited stretching states all the way to dissociation. Purpose
Previous studies reporting relaxation times within atherosclerotic plaque have typically used dedicated small-bore high-field systems and small sample sizes. This study reports quantitative T1, T2 and T2? relaxation times within plaque tissue at 1.5 T using spatially co-matched histology to determine tissue constituents.Methods
Ten carotid endarterectomy specimens were removed from patients with advanced atherosclerosis. Imaging was performed on a 1.5-T whole-body scanner using a custom built 10-mm diameter receive-only solenoid coil. A protocol was defined to allow subsequent computation of T1, T2 and T2? relaxation times using multi-flip angle spoiled gradient echo, multi-echo fast spin echo and multi-echo gradient echo sequences, respectively. The specimens were subsequently processed for histology and individually sectioned into 2-mm blocks to allow subsequent co-registration. Each imaging sequence was imported into in-house software and displayed alongside the digitized histology sections. Regions of interest were defined to demarcate fibrous cap, connective tissue and lipid/necrotic core at matched slice-locations. Relaxation times were calculated using Levenberg-Marquardt's least squares curve fitting algorithm. A linear-mixed effect model was applied to account for multiple measurements from the same patient and establish if there was a statistically significant difference between the plaque tissue constituents.Results
T2 and T2? relaxation times were statistically different between all plaque tissues (P=.026 and P=.002 respectively) [T2: lipid/necrotic core was lower 47±13.7 ms than connective tissue (67±22.5 ms) and fibrous cap (60±13.2 ms); T2?: fibrous cap was higher (48±15.5ms) than connective tissue (19±10.6 ms) and lipid/necrotic core (24±8.2 ms)]. T1 relaxation times were not significantly different (P=.287) [T1: Fibrous cap: 933±271.9 ms; connective tissue (1002±272.9 ms) and lipid/necrotic core (1044±304.0 ms)]. We were unable to demarcate hemorrhage and calcium following histology processing.Conclusions
This study demonstrates that there is a significant difference between qT2 and qT2? in plaque tissues types. Derivation of quantitative relaxation times shows promise for determining plaque tissue constituents. 相似文献30.

We report an anomalous swelling of polymer thin films in carbon dioxide (CO(2)) which is associated (in both locus and form) with the density fluctuation ridge that forms along the extension of the coexistence curve of gas and liquid in the P-T phase diagram. Neutron reflectivity results showed that CO(2) could be sorbed to a large extent ( approximately 60%) in thin polymer films even when the bulk miscibility of the polymer with CO(2) is very poor. The anomalous swelling is found to scale with the polymer radius of gyration (R(g)) and extends to a distance approximately 10 R(g). 相似文献
