Time-resolved photoelectron imaging has been used to study the relaxation dynamics of small Hg(n) (-) clusters (n=7-13,15,18) following intraband electronic excitation at 1250 nm (1.0 eV). This study furthers our previous investigation of single electron, intraband relaxation dynamics in Hg(n) (-) clusters at 790 nm by exploring the dynamics of smaller clusters (n=7-10), as well as those of larger clusters (n=11-13,15,18) at a lower excitation energy. We measure relaxation time scales of 2-9 ps, two to three times faster than seen previously after 790 nm excitation of Hg(n) (-), n=11-18. These results, along with size-dependent trends in the absorption cross-section and photoelectron angular distribution anisotropy, suggest significant evolution of the cluster anion electronic structure in the size range studied here. Furthermore, the smallest clusters studied here exhibit 35-45 cm(-1) oscillations in pump-probe signal at earliest temporal delays that are interpreted as early coherent nuclear motion on the excited potential energy surfaces of these clusters. Evidence for evaporation of one or two Hg atoms is seen on a time scale of tens of picoseconds.  相似文献

As platforms for the design of metal-based therapeutic and diagnostic agents, macrocycles are rigid enough to provide strong metal binding sites and orient functional groups stereoselectively, yet flexible enough to accommodate structural changes required for induced-fit recognition of biological targets. We consider the recognition of the Zn(II) complex of the bis-tetraazamacrocycle xylyl-bicyclam, a potent anti-HIV agent, by the coreceptor CXCR4, a G-protein-coupled receptor used by HIV for membrane fusion and cell entry. NMR studies show that the macrocycles of Zn(II)(2)-xylyl-bicyclam perchlorate exist in aqueous solution as two major configurations, trans-I (nitrogen chirality R,S,R,S), and trans-III (S,S,R,R). Acetate addition induced a major structural change. X-ray crystallography shows that the acetate complex contains the unusual cis-V cyclam configuration (R,R,R,R and folded) with bidentate coordination of acetate to Zn(II) plus second-coordination-sphere double H-bond formation between diagonal NH protons on the opposite cyclam face and acetate carboxylate oxygens. Detailed 1D and 2D NMR studies show that the major configuration of Zn(II)(2)-xylyl-bicyclam acetate in aqueous solution is cis-V/trans-I. Molecular modeling shows that an analogous cis-V site can be formed when Zn(II)(2)-xylyl-bicyclam binds to CXCR4, involving the carboxylate groups of Asp262 (Zn(II) coordination) and Glu288 (double H-bonding). The second cyclam can adopt the trans-I (or trans-III) configuration with Zn(II) binding to Asp171. These interactions are consistent with the known structure-activity relationships for bicyclam anti-HIV activity and receptor mutation. Consideration of the anti-HIV activity of xylyl-bicyclam complexes of other metal ions suggests that affinity for carboxylates, configurational flexibility, and kinetic factors may all play roles in receptor recognition. For example, Pd(II) cyclam complexes interact only weakly with axial ligands and are inflexible and inactive, whereas Co(III) cyclams bind carboxylates strongly, are configurationally flexible, and yet have low activity. Our findings should aid the design of new generations of active macrocycles including highly specific chemokine receptor antagonists.  相似文献

The surface functionalization of ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) thin films via the electrochemical reduction of aryl diazonium cations is described. The one-electron-transfer reaction leads to the formation of solution-based aryl radicals, which in turn react with the UNCD surface forming stable covalent C-C bonds. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ac impedance spectroscopy, and contact angle measurements have been employed to characterize the organic overlayer and estimate the surface coverage. The grafting of 3,5-dichlorophenyl groups renders the UNCD surface hydrophobic, whereas the attachment of 4-aminophenyl groups makes the surface relatively hydrophilic. The surface coverage, estimated from the electrochemical and XPS measurements, is as high as 70% of a compact monolayer. The aminophenyl terminated surface was obtained by electrochemical reduction of the tethered nitrophenyl groups. This two-step approach yields a UNCD surface with functional moieties available for the potential covalent coupling of a wide variety of biomolecules (e.g., DNA and proteins).  相似文献

In this article, we describe, for the first time, direct comparisons of the detailed structures of two small molecule organic semiconductors, oligo(phenylenvinylene) (OPV) molecules with chains of five and six phenyl rings (5R-OC(8)H(17) and 6R-OC(8)H(17)), respectively, and their luminescence properties on a single molecule level. Our data originate from a combination of two powerful diagnostic tools in physical chemistry: ion mobility and single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy. These techniques enable us to precisely determine the shapes of isolated molecules in the gas phase and to correlate these structures to the emission from single molecules supported on bare glass substrates. The principal structural uncertainty in OPVs is the (possible) presence and location of cis-vinylene linkages (cis-defects) in the oligomer. The results show that the structures observed in the gas phase are strongly correlated to the categories of molecules observed in the single molecule polarization anisotropy measurements with nearly identical distributions for the two OPV molecules studied. Each category is also characterized by the luminescence efficiency of the molecules in each class, providing a direct correlation between the luminescence efficiency and the shape of the molecule. This combination of techniques provides a level of information far beyond that obtained via any other analytical technique.  相似文献

A new method is presented for treating the effects of quadruple excitations in coupled-cluster theory. In the approach, quadruple excitation contributions are computed from a formula based on a non-Hermitian perturbation theory analogous to that used previously to justify the usual noniterative triples correction used in the coupled cluster singles and doubles method with a perturbative treatment of the triple excitations (CCSD(T)). The method discussed in this paper plays a parallel role in improving energies obtained with the full coupled-cluster singles, doubles, and triples method (CCSDT) by adding a perturbative treatment of the quadruple excitations (CCSDT(Q)). The method is tested for an extensive set of examples, and is shown to provide total energies that compare favorably with those obtained with the full singles, doubles, triples, and quadruples (CCSDTQ) method.  相似文献

An analytical method is described for the determination of the avermectins in plasma based upon high-performance liquid chromatography of flourescent derivatives of these compounds. The analyte is isolated by adsorption chromatography on Florisil, dehydrated in an acetic anhydride-pyridine mixture, and the fluorophore is further separated by chromatorgraphy on silica gel in advance of introduction into a reversed-phase system. This method, which can be applied to samples containing as little as 0.2 ng drug per ml, has an accuracy of 5% mean relative error and a precision of 8% relative standard deviation. A study and discussion of several factors which affect the analytical reaction are included.  相似文献

A new iterative deconvolution algorithm for the development of very high resolution Hc(I)-excited photoelectron spectra of gases is presented. The algorithm accepts as input a medium-resolution spectrum and an instrument function obtained by scanning intrinsically narrow line (e.g. the Ar2P3/2 line) under conditions identical to those used to acquire the medium resolution spectrum. The deconvolved partial spectrum of an O2H2O mixture is presented as a test case prior to presentation of results for three nitrogen lines. For comparison purposes directly obtained high-resolution spectra of the nitrogen lines are included. The shapes of the nitrogen lines are discussed within the framework of a one-center expansion theory of photoionization. The conditions under which deconvolution can be profitably applied are briefly discussed and an attempt is made to establish the deconvolution (contrary to still popular belief) is not in any way equivalent to curve fitting.  相似文献

An attempt was made to prepare 2-benzylquinoxalin-3-one by hydrolyzing the azlactone, 2-phenyl-4-benzylidene-5-oxazolone to β-phenylpyruvic acid and then treating this in situ with o-phenylenediamine (OPDA). The initial hydrolysis apparantly proceeded only as far as opening the azlactone ring forming 2-benzamidocinnamic acid which condensed with OPDA to form a substituted styrylbenzimidazole.  相似文献

Mupirocin, a polyketide-derived antibiotic from Pseudomonas fluorescens NCIMB10586, is a mixture of pseudomonic acids (PA) that target isoleucyl-tRNA synthase. The mup gene cluster encodes both type I polyketide synthases and monofunctional enzymes that should play a role during the conversion of the product of the polyketide synthase into the active antibiotic (tailoring). By in-frame deletion analysis of selected tailoring open-reading frames we show that mupQ, mupS, mupT, and mupW are essential for mupirocin production, whereas mupO, mupU, mupV, and macpE are essential for production of PA-A but not PA-B. Therefore, PA-B is not simply produced by hydroxylation of PA-A but is either a precursor of PA-A or a shunt product. In the mupW mutant, a new metabolite lacking the tetrahydropyran ring is produced, implicating mupW in oxidation of the 16-methyl group.  相似文献
