We consider a fully discrete two-level approximation for the time-dependent Navier–Stokes equations in two dimension based on a time-dependent projection. By defining this new projection, the iteration between large and small eddy components can be reflected by its associated space splitting. Hence, we can get a weakly coupled system of large and small eddy components. This two-level method applies the finite element method in space and Crank–Nicolson scheme in time. Moreover,the analysis and some numerical examples are shown that the proposed two-level scheme can reach the same accuracy as the classical one-level Crank–Nicolson method with a very fine mesh size h by choosing a proper coarse mesh size H. However, the two-level method will involve much less work.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the coupled Navier–Stokes and Darcy problem with the Beavers–Joseph interface condition. With suitable restrictions of physical parameters α and ν, we prove the existence and local uniqueness of a weak solution. Then we propose a coupled finite element scheme and a decoupled and linearized scheme based on two‐grid finite element. Under suitable further restrictions, their optimal error estimates are obtained. Finally numerical experiments indicate the validity of the theoretical results as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of the decoupled and linearized two‐grid algorithm. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We develop a numerical predictive tool for multiphase fluid mixtures consisting of biofilms grown in a viscous fluid matrix by implementing a second‐order finite difference discretization of the multiphase biofilm model developed recently on a general purpose graphic processing unit. With this numerical tool, we study a 3‐D biomass–flow interaction resulting in biomass growth, structure formation, deformation, and detachment phenomena in biofilms grown in a water channel in quiescent state and subject to a shear flow condition, respectively. The numerical investigation is limited in the viscous regime of the biofilm–solvent mixture. In quiescent flows, the model predicts growth patterns consistent with experimental findings for single or multiple adjacent biofilm colonies, the so‐called mushroom shape growth pattern. The simulated biomass growth both in density and thickness matches very well with the experimentally grown biofilm in a water channel. When shear is imposed at a boundary, our numerical studies reproduce wavy patterns, pinching, and streaming phenomena observed in biofilms grown in a water channel. Based on it, a characterization of surjective additive maps on FI + B_0(X) that preserve nilpotent perturbation of scalars in both directions are obtained.
