Background  

Helical repeat motifs are common among regulatory subunits for type-1 and type-2A protein Ser/Thr phosphatases. Yeast Sit4 is a distinctive type-2A phosphatase that has dedicated regulatory subunits named Sit4-Associated Proteins (SAPS). These subunits are conserved, and three human SAPS-related proteins are known to associate with PP6 phosphatase, the Sit4 human homologue.  相似文献

Organometallic iridium complexes have been reported as water oxidation catalysts (WOCs) in the presence of ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN). One challenge for all WOCs regardless of the metal used is stability. Here we provide evidence for extensive modification of many Ir-based WOCs even after exposure to only 5 or 15 equiv of Ce(IV) (whereas typically 100-10000 equiv are employed during WOC testing). We also show formation of Ir-rich nanoparticles (likely IrO(x)) even in the first 20 min of reaction, associated with a Ce matrix. A combination of UV-vis and NMR spectroscopy, scanning transmission electron microscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction is used. Even simple IrCl(3) is an excellent catalyst. Our results point to the pitfalls of studying Ir WOCs using CAN.  相似文献

Virus-poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (virus-PEDOT) biocomposite films are prepared by electropolymerizing 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) in aqueous electrolytes containing 12 mM LiClO(4) and the bacteriophage M13. The concentration of virus in these solutions, [virus](soln), is varied from 3 to 15 nM. A quartz crystal microbalance is used to directly measure the total mass of the biocomposite film during its electrodeposition. In combination with a measurement of the electrodeposition charge, the mass of the virus incorporated into the film is calculated. These data show that the concentration of the M13 within the electropolymerized film, [virus](film), increases linearly with [virus](soln). The incorporation of virus particles into the PEDOT film from solution is efficient, resulting in a concentration ratio of [virus](film):[virus](soln) ≈ 450. Virus incorporation into the PEDOT causes roughening of the film topography that is observed using scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The electrical conductivity of the virus-PEDOT film, measured perpendicular to the plane of the film using conductive tip AFM, decreases linearly with virus loading, from 270 μS/cm for pure PEDOT films to 50 μS/cm for films containing 100 μM virus. The presence on the virus surface of displayed affinity peptides did not significantly influence the efficiency of incorporation into virus-PEDOT biocomposite films.  相似文献

Nanofibrillated cellulose offers new technological solutions for the development of paper products. Here, composites of nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) and Ag nanoparticles (NP) were prepared for the first time via the electrostatic assembly of Ag NP (aqueous colloids) onto NFC. Distinct polyelectrolytes have been investigated as macromolecular linkers in order to evaluate their effects on the building-up of Ag modified NFC and also on the final properties of the NFC/Ag composite materials. The NFC/Ag nanocomposites were first investigated for their antibacterial properties towards S. aureus and K. pneumoniae microorganisms as compared to NFC modified by polyelectrolytes linkers without Ag. Subsequently, the antibacterial NFC/Ag nanocomposites were used as fillers in starch based coating formulations for Eucalyptus globulus-based paper sheets. The potential of this approach to produce antimicrobial paper products will be discussed on the basis of complementary optical, air barrier and mechanical data.  相似文献

Annonaceous acetogenins (AAGs) are a homogenous class of polyketides proposed as environmental neurotoxins. Previous dereplication studies of AAGs were limited by the use of low‐resolution mass spectrometers. Only poor information in terms of structures was provided due to the limited fragmentation of protonated or sodium cationized species. An innovative approach, using reversed‐phase high‐performance liquid chromatography coupled to a hybrid linear ion trap / orbitrap mass spectrometer (LTQ‐Orbitrap®), was therefore performed. Sensitivity was enhanced by post‐column infusion of lithium, since AAGs have a high affinity for this cation. High level of structural information was obtained from low‐energy‐collision‐induced dissociation fragmentation experiments of lithium‐cationized AAGs ([M + Li]+ ions) as demonstrated with purified standards. The method was then applied to a total ethyl‐acetate extract prepared from commercial soursop nectar (Annona muricata L.). The sensitivity, mass accuracy and specific fragmentation patterns proved to be particularly useful for characterization of the AAGs. Typical structural identification procedure and unexpected observations for specific structural types are illustrated, with major and minor compounds. Lithium-lanthanide-2-naphthoxide complexes are found to have solvent dependent solution structures and related monomeric/dimeric solid state structures. The incorporation of tetramethylguanidium cations into lanthanide 2-naphthoxide complexes stabilizes a complex structure both in solution and the solid state through bridging hydrogen bonds between the 2-naphthoxide ligands.  相似文献

The phase behavior of confined water is a topic of intense and current interest due to its relevance in biology, geology, and materials science. Nevertheless, little is known about the phases that water forms even when confined in the simplest geometries, such as water confined between parallel surfaces. Here we use molecular dynamics simulations to compute the phase diagram of two layers of water confined between parallel non hydrogen bonding walls. This study shows that the water bilayer forms a dodecagonal quasicrystal, as well as two previously unreported bilayer crystals, one tiled exclusively by pentagonal rings. Quasicrystals, structures with long-range order but without periodicity, have never before been reported for water. The dodecagonal quasicrystal is obtained from the bilayer liquid through a reversible first-order phase transition and has diffusivity intermediate between that of the bilayer liquid and ice phases. The water quasicrystal and the ice polymorphs based on pentagons are stabilized by compression of the bilayer and are not templated by the confining surfaces, which are smooth. This demonstrates that these novel phases are intrinsically favored in bilayer water and suggests that these structures could be relevant not only for confined water but also for the wetting and properties of water at interfaces.  相似文献
