Electro-flow focusing, a technique combining the features of electrospray (ES) and flow focusing (FF), provides a reliable tool to reach parametrical microjetting ranges not attainable by ES or FF alone under specific operational regimes (liquid properties and flow rate). In this Letter, we provide not only a closed theoretical model predicting the diameter of a high electrical conductivity electro-flow focused liquid microjet, but also its convective or absolute instability, linked to the jetting-to-dripping transition and the minimum liquid flow rate that can be ejected in steady jetting regime, in which the smallest droplets are issued. Brewster-angle reflection ellipsometry and surface optical
second harmonic generation were used to study the growth of
4'-n-octyl-4-cyanobiphenyl
(8CB) films evaporated in air onto polymeric and quartz glass
substrates. The layer-by-layer growth of the films terminates
after formation of two distinctive interfacial layers. Both of
these two layers are polar and tilted. In the first layer the
molecules lie nearly flat on the surface, while in the second
layer they point on average about 50° toward the surface normal.
The dipole moment of the second layer has a lower magnitude and
an opposite direction with respect to the dipole moment of the

A human eye model based on anatomically accurate eye model previously proposed by Liou, has been transformed into a new eye model, in which laminated structure of the lens is considered. The crystalline lens is presented in the form of hundreds of shells with rotational symmetry, and with constant index within each shell. The refractive index increases from the cortical shell to the inner one, according to the equation proposed by Smith G. et al. The anterior surface of the lens is prolate, whereas the posterior surface of the lens is oblate which is consistent with the anatomical data. A ray tracing procedure has been applied to study the refractive structure of the eye. The optical characters of the model have been studied. The reason that the wings occur on the spherical aberration curve has been given. And we found that the lens with gradient refractive index and lens with shell structure can give same longitudinal spherical aberration results. 相似文献

We study a site analogue of directed percolation. Random trajectories are generated and their critical behavior is studied. The critical behavior corresponds to that of simple percolation in some of the parameter space, but elsewhere the exponents reveal new universality classes. As a byproduct, we use the model to make an improved estimate of the percolation hull exponents and to calculate the site percolation probability for the square lattice. 相似文献
