We consider four- and six-fermion interacting models at finite temperature and density. We construct the corresponding free energies and investigate the appearance of first- and second-order phase transitions. Finite-size effects on the phase structure are investigated using methods of quantum field theory on toroidal topologies.  相似文献

We show that the conditional displacement operator acting upon arbitrary states of traveling waves can be well approximated by the action of a Kerr-medium placed between two beam splitters whose respective second ports are fed by highly excited coherent states. The scheme is deterministic, since it does not employ any detection event. Applications for generation of nonclassical states and measurement of Wigner function of arbitrary states are also considered.  相似文献

The standard representation of c-algebra is used to describe fields in compactified space–time dimensions characterized by topologies of the type . The modular operator is generalized to introduce representations of isometry groups. The Poincaré symmetry is analyzed and then we construct the modular representation by using linear transformations in the field modes, similar to the Bogoliubov transformation. This provides a mechanism for compactification of the Minkowski space–time, which follows as a generalization of the Fourier integral representation of the propagator at finite temperature. An important result is that the 2×2 representation of the real-time formalism is not needed. The end result on calculating observables is described as a condensate in the ground state. We initially analyze the free Klein–Gordon and Dirac fields, and then formulate non-abelian gauge theories in . Using the S-matrix, the decay of particles is calculated in order to show the effect of the compactification.  相似文献

A complete set of basis functions for the expansion of the wavefunction of a Bloch electron in a uniform magnetic field is derived. We extend the complete Mellin (CM) representation of Feynman amplitudes to the non-commutative quantum field theories. This representation is a versatile tool. It provides a quick proof of meromorphy of Feynman amplitudes in parameters such as the dimension of space–time. In particular it paves the road for the dimensional renormalization of these theories. This complete Mellin representation also allows the study of asymptotic behavior under rescaling of arbitrary subsets of external invariants of any Feynman amplitude.   相似文献

We present a study of the instability and convergence of Hartree–Fock (HF) ab initio solutions for the diatomic systems H2, LiH, CH, C2, and N2. In our study, we consider real molecular orbitals (MOs) and analyze the classes of single‐determinant functions associated to Hartree–Fock–Roothaan (HFR) and Hartree–Fock–Pople–Nesbet (HFPN) equations. To determine the multiple HF solutions, we used either an SCF iterative procedure with aufbau and non‐aufbau ordering rules or the algebraic method (AM). Stability conditions were determined using TICS and ASDW stability matrices, derived from the maximum and minimum method of functions (MMF). We examined the relationship between pure SCF convergence criterion with the aufbau ordering rule, and the classification of the HF solution as an extremum point in its respective class of functions. Our results show that (i) in a pure converged SCF calculation, with the aufbau ordering rule, the solutions are not necessarily classified as a minimum of the HF functional with respect to the TICS or ASDW classes of solutions, and (ii) for all studied systems, we obtained local minimum points associated only with the aufbau rule and the solutions of lower energies. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. We perform the dimensional reduction of the linear σ model at one-loop level. The effective potential of the reduced theory obtained from the integration over the nonzero Matsubara frequencies is exhibited. Thermal mass and coupling constant renormalization constants are given, as well as the thermal renormalization group equation which controls the dependence of the counterterms on the temperature. We also recover, for the reduced theory, the vacuum unstability of the model for large N.  相似文献

Using a representation for Lie groups closely associated with thermal problems, we derive the algebraic rules of the real-time formalism for thermal quantum field theories, the so-called thermo-field dynamics (TFD), including the tilde conjugation rules for interacting fields. These thermo-group representations provide a unified view of different approaches for finite-temperature quantum fields in terms of a symmetry group. On these grounds, a path integral formalism is constructed, using Bogoliubov transformations, for bosons, fermions and non-abelian gauge fields. The generalization of the results for quantum fields in topology is addressed.  相似文献
