The isopropylsulfinyl group: a useful chiral controller for the asymmetric aziridination of sulfinylimines and the organocatalytic allylation of hydrazones

[reaction: see text] A comparative study shows that the isopropylsulfinyl group for which an enantiodivergent and highly diastereoselective approach is reported behaves better than the tert-butylsulfinyl and p-tolylsulfinyl groups, both in terms of reactivity and stereoselectivity in the Corey-Chaykovsky reaction of chiral sulfinylimines and the organocatalytic allylation of acyl hydrazones.     

Solitary wave solutions to nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics

This paper obtains solitons as well as other solutions to a few nonlinear evolution equations that appear in various areas of mathematical physics. The two analytical integrators that are applied to extract solutions are tan–cot method and functional variable approaches. The soliton solutions can be used in the further study of shallow water waves in (1+1) as well as (2+1) dimensions.

Neural correlates of semantic and syntactic processes in the comprehension of case marked pronouns: Evidence from German and Dutch

Background  

It is well known that both semantic and syntactic information play a role in pronoun resolution in sentences. However, it is unclear what the relative contribution of these sources of information is for the establishment of a coreferential relationship between the pronoun and the antecedent in combination with a local structural case constraint on the pronoun (i.e. case assignment of a pronoun under preposition governing). In a prepositional phrase in German and Dutch, it is the preposition that assigns case to the pronoun. Furthermore, in these languages different overtly case-marked pronouns are used to refer to male and female persons. Thus, one can manipulate biological/syntactic gender features separately from case marking features.     

Bases and quasi‐reflexivity in Fréchet spaces

A Fréchet space E is quasi‐reflexive if, either dim(E″/E) < ∞, or E″[β(E″,E′)]/E is isomorphic to ω. A Fréchet space E is totally quasi‐reflexive if every separated quotient is quasi‐reflexive. In this paper we show, using Schauder bases, that E is totally quasi‐reflexive if and only if it is isomorphic to a closed subspace of a countable product of quasi‐reflexive Banach spaces. Bienzymatic supramolecular complex of catalase modified with cyclodextrin-branched carboxymethylcellulose and superoxide dismutase: stability and anti-inflammatory properties

A bienzymatic supramolecular assembly of CAT and SOD is reported. CAT was chemically glycosilated with CD branched CMC and then associated with SOD modified with 1-adamantane carboxylic acid. SOD was remarkably resistant to inactivation by H(2)O(2) and its anti-inflammatory activity was 4.5-fold increased after supramolecular association with the modified CAT form. [structure: see text]
