Sorption of uranium (VI) species on zircon: structural investigation of the solid/solution interface

This work is an investigation of the mechanisms of interaction between uranium (VI) ions and zirconium silicate. The speciation of uranium (VI) sorbed on zircon was studied using four complementary techniques as probes of the local structure around the uranium atom: laser spectrofluorimetry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier-transformed (DRIFT) spectroscopy, and EXAFS spectroscopy. The sorption of uranyl on zirconium oxide was also studied to allow structural comparisons. Spectrofluorimetry and XPS results allowed an identification of the silicate sorption sites on the solid. These methods associated with spectrofluorimetry and DRIFT led to a characterization of the sorbed surface complexes, taking into account the influence of the nature of the background salt and of the pH on the structure of the U(VI) surface species. EXAFS measurements, either on air-dried samples or in situ, were then carried out on well-characterized samples and allowed identification of the sorption mechanism on zircon as the formation of an inner-sphere polydentate surface complex. 相似文献

Mesostructures formed by dipolar particles confined between two parallel walls and subjected to an external field are studied by Monte Carlo simulations. The main focus of the work is the structural behavior of the Stockmayer fluid in the low density regime. The dependence of cluster thickness and ordering is estimated as a function of density and wall separation, the two most influential parameters, for large dipole moments and high field strengths. The great sensitivity of the structure to details of the short-range part of the interactions is pointed out. In particular, the attractive part of the Lennard-Jones potential is shown to play a major role in driving chain aggregation. The effect of confinement, evaluated by comparison with results for a bulk system, is most pronounced for a short range hard sphere potential. No evidence is found for a novel "gel-like" phase recently uncovered in low density dipolar colloidal suspensions [A. K. Agarwal and A. Yethiraj, Phys. Rev. Lett. 102, 198301 (2009)]. 相似文献

Behavioural models suggest that the value of an alternative is determined by the combination of the context-free effects and the context-dependent effects. The former refer to the absolute position of the choice set and are independent of the context frame or other alternatives. On the other hand, the latter are measured by the relative position of other alternatives and may be influenced by the context effects. Although many behavioural models have been proposed based on prospect theory and the componential context model to capture consumer choice behaviour, they predict inconsistent results in some situations. In this paper, five experiments are used to show the inconsistency between the above two models. Then, two revised behavioural models are proposed to modify prospect theory and the componential context model for releasing that inconsistency. 相似文献
