B-Construction and C-Construction

B-construction is a way of obtaining a graded algebra from the triple consisting of an additive category, an object, and an autoequivalence, while C-construction is a way of obtaining an algebra (without unity) from the pair consisting of an additive category and a set of objects. In this article, we study and compare three important classes of algebras in noncommutative algebraic geometry and representation theory of finite dimensional algebras, namely, quantum polynomial algebras, preprojetive algebras and trivial extensions, via these constructions.     

Effect of calcination temperature during preparation of Ru?Sn-alumina catalysts on the hydrogenation of carboxylic acid

The conversion of a carboxylic acid was increased to 90% with 100% selectivity to the corresponding alcohol by calcination of the catalyst precursor, Sn/alumina, of Ru–Sn/alumina in the hydrogenation of the carboxylic acid.     

Isotope effect in retention value between55Cr and51Cr in recoll chemistry of Cr/acac/3

Recoiling behaviour of⁵⁵Cr produced by⁵⁴Cr/n, /⁵⁵Cr reaction was studied by choosing solid Cr/acac/₃ or its benzene solution as target material and by using rapid separation technique. The approximate retention value /R-value/ of⁵⁵Cr, defined as the percentage of the activity retained in the benzene phase which was not extracted with an oxalic acid solution, was found to be higher than that of⁵⁵Cr for practically all experimental runs tested /15 runs/. The ratio (⁵⁵Cr/⁵¹Cr) was 1.115±0.027.     

High thermal conductivity of polymerizable liquid‐crystal acrylic film having a twisted molecular orientation

The aligned films, the homogeneous film, the 90°‐twisted film and the 180°‐twisted film, have been prepared by immobilizing the polymerizable liquid crystals under the UV irradiation. The relation between the thermal conductivity and the aligned molecular direction of the films was investigated. It is indicated that the additional thermal transmission effect, which the increase of the thermal conductivity may be induced, would exist in the twisted films. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Generation of high-contrast and high-intensity laser pulses using an OPCPA preamplifier in a double CPA, Ti:sapphire laser system

We demonstrate a high-contrast, high-intensity double chirped-pulse amplification (CPA) Ti:sapphire laser system using an optical parametric chirped-pulse (OPCPA) pre- amplifier. By injecting cleaned microjoule seed pulses into the OPCPA, a temporal contrast greater than 10¹⁰ within picosecond times before the main femtosecond pulse is demonstrated with an output pulse energy of 1.7 J and a pulse duration of 30 fs, corresponding to a peak power of 60 TW at a 10 Hz repetition rate. This system uses a cryogenically-cooled Ti:sapphire final amplifier and generates focused peak intensities in excess of 10²⁰ W/cm².     

Kinetics for the reaction of methine proton of an unsymmetrical tetradentate Schiff base complex of nickel(II) with N-chlorosuccinimide

The substitution reaction of the methine proton of an unsymmetrical tetradentate Schiff base complex of nickel(II) with N-chlorosuccinimide was kinetically studied in a dichloromethane solution. While the rate of chlorination was decreased by the addition of acetone or ether, the rate was significantly increased by the addition of ethanol. The rate of bromination was faster than that of chlorination. A four-centred intermediate was proposed for the halogenation reaction of the Schiff base nickel(II) complex.
