The non-linear equations of motion describing the laminar, isothermal and incompressible flow in a rectangular domain bounded by two weakly permeable, moving porous walls, which enable the fluid to enter or exit during successive expansions or contractions, are considered. We apply Lie-group method for determining symmetry reductions of partial differential equations. Lie-group method starts out with a general infinitesimal group of transformations under which given partial differential equations are invariant, then, the determining equations are derived. The determining equations are a set of linear differential equations, the solution of which gives the infinitesimals of the dependent and independent variables. After the group has been determined, a solution to the given partial differential equation may be found from the invariant surface condition such that its solution leads to similarity variables that reduce the number of independent variables in the system. Effect of the permeation Reynolds number Re and the dimensionless wall dilation rate α on self-axial velocity have been studied both analytically and numerically and the results are plotted.  相似文献

In this work, we will consider a half-space filled with an elastic material, which has constant elastic parameters. The governing equations are taken in the context of the theory of two-temperature generalized thermoelasticity. A linear temperature ramping function is used to more realistically model thermal loading of the half-space surface. The medium is assumed initially quiescent. Laplace and Fourier transform techniques are used to obtain the general solution for any set of boundary conditions. The general solution obtained is applied to a specific problem of a half-space subjected to ramp-type heating. The inverse Fourier transforms are obtained analytically while the inverse Laplace transforms are computed numerically using a method based on Fourier expansion techniques. Some comparisons have been shown in figures to estimate the effect of the ramping parameter of heating.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a notion of similarly self dual lattice in a d-dimensional Euclidean space and a classical Jacobi theta function is associated to such a lattice. We establish identities of arithmetic type between values of this theta function and its successive derivatives. This work can be related to the spectral theory of the Landau operators.   相似文献

We establish a joint integral test for the lower functions of μ+(t) and μ(t), in the sense of Paul Lévy. In particular, it yields the law of the iterated logarithm for max(μ+(t),μ(t)) as a straightforward consequence. Our result is in agreement with well-known theorems of Chung and Erdős [(1952) Trans. Let B be an Archimedean reduced f-ring. A positive element \({\omega}\) in B is said to satisfy the property \({(\ast)}\) if for every f-ring A with identity e and every \({\ell}\)-group homomorphism \({\gamma : A \rightarrow B}\) with \({\gamma(e) = \omega}\), there exists a unique \({\ell}\)-ring homomorphism \({\rho: B \rightarrow B}\) such that \({\gamma = \omega \rho}\) and \({\rho(e)^{\perp \perp} = \omega^{\perp \perp}}\). Boulabiar and Hager proved that any (positive) von Neumann regular element in B satisfies the property \({(\ast)}\) and proved that the converse holds in the C(X)-case. In this regard, they asked about this converse in the general case. Our main purpose in this note is to prove, via a counter-example, that the converse in question fails in general. In addition, we shall take the opportunity to extend the direct result obtained by Boulabiar and Hager, and to get the C(X)-case we were talking about in an easier way.  相似文献
