The magnetic and electrical properties of polycrystalline Pr1?xAxCoO3 cobaltites with A=Ca, Sr and 0≤x≤0.5 were studied in the temperature range 4 K≤T≤1000 K and field up to 7 T. The X-ray analyses show the presence of only one phase having monoclinic or orthorhombic symmetry. The magnetic measurements indicate that the Ca-doped samples have at low temperatures, similar properties to the frustrated magnetic materials. PrCoO3 is a paramagnetic insulator in the range from 4 to 1000 K. The Sr-doped cobaltites exhibit two phase transitions: a paramagnetic–ferromagnetic (or magnetic phase separated state) phase transition at about 240 K and a second one at about 100 K. The magnetic measurements suggest the presence of magnetic clusters and a change in the nature of magnetic coupling between Co ions at low temperatures. A semiconducting type behavior and high negative magnetoresistance was found for the Ca-doped samples, while the Sr-doped ones were metallic and with negligible magnetoresistance. The results are analyzed in the frame of a phase separation scenario in the presence of the spin-state transitions of Co ions. 相似文献

X-ray Diffraction (XRD), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and magnetic measurements as a function of applied magnetic field and temperature for In1?x Mn x Sb (0.05≤x≤0.2) system are reported. Magnetic measurements performed at high and small magnetic field in ZFC and FC indicate the coexistence of ferromagnetic In1?x Mn x Sb solid solution and two types of magnetic cluster: ferromagnetic MnSb and ferrimagnetic Mn2Sb. XPS valence band and Mn 2p core level spectra have confirmed the presence of MnSb and Mn2Sb phases. Ferromagnetic full Heusler alloys containing Co are amongst the most studied half‐metallic systems. Several studies recently have been concentrated on the effect of defects and impurities. We focus in this Letter on the case of vacancies in these alloys. We show that the occurrence of vacancies at the sites occupied by Co atoms can destroy half‐metallicity and alters the Slater–Pauling rule. Such defects are likely to occur since they result to the C1b lattice structure of the semi‐Heusler alloys. Contrary, the appearance of vacancies at the other sites keeps the half‐metallic character of the parent alloys. The report that T(c) was doubled in underdoped La2-xSrxCuO4 films under compressive epitaxial strain has stirred great interest. We show that such films are extremely sensitive to oxygen intake, even at very low temperature, with startling consequences including colossal lattice expansion and a crossover from semiconductor to metallic behavior. We can bring T(c) up to 40 K in La2CuO4 films on SrTiO3 substrates-without any Sr doping and under tensile strain. On LaSrAlO4 substrates, we reached T(c)=51.5 K, the highest so far in La2-xSrxCuO4. 相似文献

ABSTRACTWe have used polarized neutron reflectivity, X-ray diffraction, X-ray reflectivity and magneto-optical Kerr effect in polar configuration to study the properties of ultrathin Pt/Co/Pt films. Structures consisting of a 5-nm thick Pt buffer, 3-nm thick Co layer and 5-nm thick Pt cover layer were deposited onto (0001)-oriented Al2O3 substrate by the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) method. Irreversible modifications of film properties, resulting from its illumination by single femtosecond laser pulses, of duration of 40 fs and wavelength of 800 nm, were observed and analyzed. As prepared films exhibited magnetization in-plane, but after laser irradiation, the direction of magnetization was rotated to out-of-plane state. Formation of Co–Pt alloy phase caused by quasi-uniform film irradiation was demonstrated by the results of X-ray and neutron scattering measurements. Moreover, polarized neutron and X-ray reflectivity data showed that after illumination Co was distributed mostly in the area of nominal Co layer and Pt cover layer and its diffusion into the Pt buffer was less significant. 相似文献
