It is shown that for Riemannian spacesds R 2=g ij dx i dx i which admit a non trivial covariantly constant tensorH i .(x k ) there is an associated Finsler space with the same geodesic structure. The acoustic emission signals resulting from a small extension of an existing crack in a body under tensile stress are calculated using a particular model of the crack extension event. The dependence of the signal on the duration of the event is evaluated; and it is shown that the signal strength depends markedly on the position and characteristics of the transducer and on the crack orientation.Simultaneous measurements with an array of transducers on the surface of the specimen could therefore provide additional information about the nature of the crack extension event.  相似文献

Valence bond ground states in isotropic quantum antiferromagnets   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
Haldane predicted that the isotropic quantum Heisenberg spin chain is in a massive phase if the spin is integral. The first rigorous example of an isotropic model in such a phase is presented. The Hamiltonian has an exactSO(3) symmetry and is translationally invariant, but we prove the model has a unique ground state, a gap in the spectrum of the Hamiltonian immediately above the ground state and exponential decay of the correlation functions in the ground state. Models in two and higher dimension which are expected to have the same properties are also presented. For these models we construct an exact ground state, and for some of them we prove that the two-point function decays exponentially in this ground state. Humidity control is an important issue across variety of industries. In this study, a novel zinc oxide (ZnO) flake-based humidity sensor was fabricated and characterized. It was found that fast response sensor can be achieved by substituting conventional sputter ZnO thin films with nano-flakes. It is proposed that the enhancement in dynamic performance originate from the high surface area offered by the nanoflakes.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a novel optically tunable dynamic dispersion-compensation device with coupled-cavity etalon structure. Experimentally, it was achieved with an all-fiber coupled-cavity etalon made in an Er/Yb codoped fiber pumped by a 980-nm laser diode. The dispersion was tuned from -300 to +400 ps/nm in the experiment. The potential advantages of such optically tunable dispersion compensators include fast response time and remotely controllable operation.  相似文献

The conformations of a number of cyano-substituted aromatic model mesogens with actual or potential application in liquid crystals have been obtained using density functional B-LYP/6-311G(d) methodology. Dipole polarizability tensors have been computed at Hartree-Fock and B3-LYP levels of theory using Spackman's recommended basis sets, in order to obtain polarizability anisotropies, and to compare them with those of the parent compounds. The results indicate that 6-cyanoazulene is a potentially important mesogenic component, having a polarizability anisotropy not much less than 4-cyano-2,2'-bipyridyl. Electric dipole transition moments and oscillator strengths to the lowest singlet and triplet excited states have also been estimated for the cyanoazulenes, using a Configuration-Interaction Singles CIS/6-311G(d) approximation.  相似文献

Triangular symmetry stabilizes a novel non-Fermi-liquid phase in the three-impurity Kondo model with frustrating antiferromagnetic interactions between half-integer impurity spins. The phase arises without fine-tuning of couplings, and is stable against magnetic fields and particle-hole symmetry breaking. We find a conformal field theory describing this phase, verify it using the numerical renormalization group, and extract various exact, universal low-energy properties. Signatures predicted in electrical transport may be testable in scanning tunneling microscopy or quantum-dot experiments.  相似文献

针对坐落于意大利帕维亚大学的TRIGA Mark II反应堆热柱结构进行优化设计,从而满足面向硼中子俘获治疗(BNCT)的单光子发射计算机断层成像(SPECT)研究要求。为提高计算效率并减小统计误差,对比分析使用SSW/SSR方法与直接使用反应堆为源项时热柱内照射位置处中子能谱,其结果基本一致,从而验证了SSW/SSR方法的可靠性。为在该反应堆开展BNCT中SPECT实验,热柱中子束需准直为笔形束。对比分析四种热柱优化方案下束流口处及探测器处热中子和光子通量:40 cm长石墨(射束口5 cm3 cm);0.5 cm厚硼包裹40 cm长石墨(射束口5 cm3 cm);30 cm长天然锂聚乙烯(射束口直径4 cm);30 cm长天然锂聚乙烯(20 cm长射束口直径5 cm,5 cm长射束口直径4 cm,5 cm长射束口直径2 cm)。结果显示,射束口处热中子通量分别为1.05108,2.52107,6.08107和5.10 107 #/(cm2s)。综合考虑中子准直效果及光子污染,方案三具有最优性能。为后续进行BNCT-SPECT理论和实验研究提供了基础,从而有效促进BNCT剂量准确评估方法的研究进程。  相似文献
