Spatial deterministic chaos in optical systems and methods of its modeling

The phenomenon of spatial deterministic chaos is described. A transition from an ordinary differential equation to a discrete map is justified for modeling of the chaos. Methods of studying the chaos dynamics in this model are suggested. It is established how the physical properties of a nonlinear ring interferometer influence the structure of charts of the Lyapunov exponents. The contribution of the central region of the electron energy spectrum to the total double photoionization cross section of helium in the asymptotic nonrelativistic energy region

The double photoionization of helium at high photon energies is considered using a nonrelativistic approach. The central region of the energy spectrum and its contribution to the total process cross section and to the ratio between the double and single ionization cross sections are studied. Interelectronic interaction in the initial state is included exactly, whereas the interaction between the fast outgoing electrons is calculated by perturbation theory. A detailed derivation of the expression for the cross section ratio between double and single ionizations is given. The corresponding results obtained by other authors are analyzed and corrected.     

Mathematical Simulation of the Synthesis of cis-1,4-Polybutadiene on a Cobalt-Containing Catalyst in the Presence of Ethylene

Based on an analysis of experimental results and published data, the main elementary steps of the anionic coordination polymerization of butadiene rubber on a cobalt-containing catalyst in the presence of ethylene were found, and a mathematical model of the periodic process at an optimum water content was developed. The molecular-weight characteristics of the process depending on ethylene concentration were studied with the use of this model.     

Experience of Control over Process of Chemical-Informational Synthesis

Conditions under which various kinds of carbon nanoparticles are obtained by thermal oxidative conversion of methane in chlorine in the temperature range 20-500°C were studied. The influence exerted by conditions of synthesis of nanodispersed carbon on the properties of its samples was analyzed.     

A Note about the Appearance of Non-Hyperbolic Solutions in a Mechanical Pendulum System

The investigation of the behavior of a nonlinear system consists in theanalysis of different stages of its motion, where the complexity varieswith the proximity of a resonance region. Near this region the stabilitydomain of the system undergoes sudden changes due basically tocompetition and interaction between periodic and saddle solutions insidethe phase portrait, leading to the occurrence of the most differentphenomena. Depending of the domain of the chosen control parameter,these events can reveal interesting geometric features of the system sothat the phase portrait is not capable to express all them, since theprojection of these solutions on the two-dimensional surface can hidesome aspects of these events. In this work we will investigate thenumerical solutions of a particular pendulum system close to a secondaryresonance region, where we vary the control parameter in a restrictdomain in order to draw a preliminary identification about what happenswith this system. This domain includes the appearance of non-hyperbolicsolutions where the basin of attraction in the center of the phaseportrait diminishes considerably, almost disappearing, and afterwardsits size increases with the direction of motion inverted. Thisphenomenon delimits a boundary between low and high frequency of theexternal excitation.     

Composition of the Cobalt Sulfide Coating after Its Electrochemical Reduction

X-ray photoelectrom spectroscopy was used to study the composition of the initial and electrochemically reduced cobalt coating formed by the adsorption procedure involving treatment of a carbon glass electrode in a solution of Co(II) ammine complexes, hydrolytic washing in water, and conversion to sulfide in Na₂S solution.     

Coulomb drag of conduction electrons in spatially separated two-dimensional layers: An effective-parameter approximation

The Coulomb drag of electrons in spatially separated two-dimensional layers is considered under conditions of electron heating when the nonequilibrium distribution of electrons in the first layer can be described by macroparameters, such as the effective temperature. The nonequilibrium response is calculated using a projection operator that is an obvious generalization of the Mori operator to the case of nonequilibrium systems.
