In the title compound, C15H24O3, derived from a naturally occurring sesquiterpenoid, the asymmetric unit consists of two mol­ecules differing by 167.4 (8)° in the rotational conformation of the carboxyl group. Each molecule aggregates separately with its own type as carboxyl‐to‐ketone hydrogen‐bonding catemers [O⋯O = 2.715 (6) and 2.772 (6) Å, and O—H⋯O = 169 and 168°]. This generates two crystallographically independent single‐strand hydrogen‐bonding helices passing through the cell in the b direction, with opposite end‐to‐end orientations. One intermolecular C—H⋯O=C close contact exists for the carboxyl group of one of the mol­ecules. The structure is isostructural with that of a closely related unsaturated keto acid reported previously.  相似文献

Single-phase permeability k has intensively been investigated over the past several decades by means of experiments, theories and simulations. Although the effect of surface roughness on fluid flow and permeability in single pores and fractures as well as networks of fractures was studied previously, its influence on permeability in a random mass fractal porous medium constructed of pores of different sizes remained as an open question. In this study, we, therefore, address the effect of pore–solid interface roughness on single-phase flow in random fractal porous media. For this purpose, we apply a mass fractal model to construct porous media with a priori known mass fractal dimensions \(2.579 \le D_{\mathrm{m}} \le 2.893\) characterizing both solid matrix and pore space. The pore–solid interface of the media is accordingly roughened using the Weierstrass–Mandelbrot approach and two parameters, i.e., surface fractal dimension \(D_{\mathrm{s}}\) and root-mean-square (rms) roughness height. A single-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann method is applied to simulate single-phase permeability in the corresponding porous media. Results indicate that permeability decreases sharply with increasing \(D_{\mathrm{s}}\) from 1 to 1.1 regardless of \(D_{\mathrm{m}}\) value, while k may slightly increase or decrease, depending on \(D_{\mathrm{m}}\), as \(D_{\mathrm{s}}\) increases from 1.1 to 1.6.  相似文献

In the title compound, C10H16O3, the two mol­ecules of the asymmetric unit form acid‐to‐ketone hydrogen‐bonded chains. The two species differ only very slightly and are related by a pseudo‐center, so that the apparent translational relationship among the units of the hydrogen‐bonded chain is actually a pseudo‐translation, with the mol­ecules alternating in type. Two counterdirectional pairs of chains proceed through each cell [O⋯O = 2.743 (2) and 2.683 (2) Å, and O—H⋯O = 171 (3) and 157 (3)°]. Three intermolecular C—H⋯O close contacts were found, involving all three O atoms of one of the mol­ecules.  相似文献

Non‐Stokes–Einstein relaxation : The rate constant of conformational relaxation of a phenylenevinylene trimer (see picture) in different solvents is proportional to η?α, with α values decreasing from close to unity (low viscosity) to zero at sufficiently high solvent viscosity. This behaviour is attributed to the flexible methylbutyl side chains of the trimer, which partially screen the solvent friction.

The characterisation of a novel amphiphilic material, Alg-C4, produced from butanol linked by esterification to alginate is presented. The novel derivative retains the gelling and non-toxic properties of native alginate. FTIR spectra of Alg-C4 contained the characteristic hydroxyl and carboxyl bands, but also featured additional peaks at 1736 and 1134 cm(-1), indicating the presence of ester bonds. NMR studies showed the presence of butyl groups. The endothermic peak and exothermic peak present in the DSC thermogram of native alginate were also apparent in the Alg-C4 thermogram, but had shifted to lower temperatures (from 106 to 87 degrees C and from 254 to 247 degrees C, respectively). In addition, the exothermic peak was significantly reduced for Alg-C4 (5 mW compared to 20 mW in native alginate). Scanning electron microscopy was used to examine surface topography. The native alginate beads appeared smooth while Alg-C4 beads had a different, rougher appearance. Using circular dichroism it was found that the ratio of mannuronic to guluronic residues in the Alg-C4 was markedly increased compared to the native alginate (1.33 to 2.47), suggesting the preferential esterification of butanol to the guluronic residues. Exposure of ovarian granulosa cells in vitro to the Alg-C4 material demonstrated that granulosa cell viability (MTT test) was unchanged when compared to native alginate, which is regarded as non-toxic. The novel material is very stable, giving identical FTIR, DSC and gelling performance after 12 months storage at temperatures ranging from 10 to 20 degrees C. The data support the successful preparation of a stable modified alginate with characteristic hydrophilic properties and, in addition, a novel hydrophobic character.  相似文献

We have designed and developed two breadboard versions of stand-off Raman spectroscopic systems for landers based on a 5-in. Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope and a small (4-in. diameter) Newtonian telescope receiver. These systems are capable of measuring the Raman spectra of minerals located at a distance of 4.5-66 m from the telescope. Both continuous wave (CW) Ar-ion and frequency doubled Nd:YAG (532 nm) pulsed (20 Hz) lasers are used as excitation sources for measuring remote Raman spectra of rocks and minerals. We have also made complementary measurements on the same rock samples with a micro-Raman system in 180 and 135 degrees geometry for evaluating the system performance and for estimating effect of grain size and laser-induced heating on the spectra of minerals using alpha-quartz as a model mineral. A field portable remote pulsed Raman spectroscopic system based on the 5-in. telescope and an f/2.2 spectrograph has been developed and tested. We have also demonstrated a prototype of a combined Raman and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) system, capable of providing major element composition and mineralogical information on both biogenic and inorganic minerals at a distance of 10 m from the receiver.  相似文献

The interaction of sodium octanoate, decanoate or dodecanoate with calcium(ii) in aqueous solutions has been studied using turbidity, conductivity and potentiometric measurements. These show a marked alkyl chain length dependence on the behaviour. At the calcium concentration used (1.0 mM), there is little interaction with the octanoate, the decanoate shows initially formation of a 1:1 complex, followed by precipitation, while the dodecanoate precipitates at low surfactant concentrations. The solid calcium carboxylates were prepared, and show lamellar, bilayer structures with planes of calcium(II) ions coordinated to carboxylate groups through bidentate chelate linkages. Thermogravimetry and elemental analyses indicate the presence of coordinated water with the calcium decanoate but not with longer chain carboxylates. The results of both the solution and solid state studies suggest that precipitation of long-chain carboxylates depends on a balance between hydration effects and hydrophobic (largely van der Waals') interactions. Electrostatic effects make little energetic contribution but play the important structural role of ordering the carboxylate anions before precipitation. Differences are observed in the interactions between calcium(II) and long chain alkylcarboxylates and alkylsulfates, and are interpreted in terms of stronger binding to the metal of the carboxylate group. A general mechanism is proposed for calcium carboxylate precipitation from aqueous solution based on this and previous studies.  相似文献

The quaternary copper chalcogenide Cu(2)ZnSnS(4) is an important emerging material for the development of low-cost and sustainable solar cells. Here we report a facile solution synthesis of stoichiometric Cu(2)ZnSnS(4) in size-controlled nanorod form (11 nm × 35 nm). The monodisperse nanorods have a band gap of 1.43 eV and can be assembled into perpendicularly aligned arrays by controlled evaporation from solution.  相似文献

Raman microscopy is employed to spectroscopically image biological cells previously exposed to fluorescently labelled polystyrene nanoparticles and, in combination with K-means clustering and principal component analysis (PCA), is demonstrated to be capable of localising the nanoparticles and identifying the subcellular environment based on the molecular spectroscopic signatures. The neutral nanoparticles of 50 nm or 100 nm, as characterised by dynamic light scattering, are shown to be non-toxic to a human lung adenocarcinoma cell-line (A549), according to a range of cytotoxicity assays including Neutral Red, Alamar Blue, Coomassie Blue and 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT). Confocal fluorescence microscopy identifies intracellular fluorescence due to the nanoparticle exposure, but the fluorescence distribution is spatially diffuse, potentially due to detachment of the dye from the nanoparticles, and the technique fails to unambiguously identify the distribution of the nanoparticles within the cells. Raman spectroscopic mapping of the cells in combination with K-means cluster analysis is used to clearly identify and localise the polystyrene nanoparticles in exposed cells, based on their characteristic spectroscopic signatures. PCA identifies the local environment as rich in lipidic signatures which are associated with localisation of the nanoparticles in the endoplasmic reticulum. The importance of optimised cell growth conditions and fixation processes is highlighted. The preliminary study demonstrates the potential of the technique to unambiguously identify and locate nonfluorescent nanoparticles in cells and to probe not only the local environment but also changes in the cell metabolism which may be associated with cytotoxic responses.  相似文献

Gas giants are believed to form by the accretion of hydrogen-helium gas around an initial protocore of rock and ice. The question of whether the rocky parts of the core dissolve into the fluid H-He layers following formation has significant implications for planetary structure and evolution. Here we use ab initio calculations to study rock solubility in fluid hydrogen, choosing MgO as a representative example of planetary rocky materials, and find MgO to be highly soluble in H for temperatures in excess of approximately 10,000 K, implying the potential for significant redistribution of rocky core material in Jupiter and larger exoplanets.  相似文献
