<Emphasis Type="Italic">G</Emphasis>-covering subgroup systems for the classes of supersoluble and nilpotent groups

LetF be a class of groups andG a group. We call a set Σ of subgroups ofG aG-covering subgroup system for the classF (or directly aF-covering subgroup system ofG) ifG ∈F whenever every subgroup in Σ is inF. In this paper, we provide some nontrivial sets of subgroups of a finite groupG which are simultaneouslyG-covering subgroup systems for the classes of supersoluble and nilpotent groups. An obstruction to the positivity of relative Yamabe invariants

For a supergroup , we describe an obstruction to the existence of positive scalar curvature metrics with minimal boundary condition on a compact n-dimensional -manifold W with nonempty boundary M, , in terms of the bordism class [M] in the Stolz obstruction group associated to [St2]. In par ticular, when W is a 5-dimensional spin manifold and the -invariant of a connected component of M is nonzero, we prove that W does not admit a positive scalar curvature metric with minimal boundary condition. On Solvability of a Boundary Value Problem for Singular Integral Equations

This paper deals with the solvability of boundary value problems for singular integral equations of the form (i)-(ii).By an algebraic method we reduce the problem (i)-(ii) to a system of linear algebraic equations which gives all solutions in a closed form.AMS Subject Classification: 47G05, 45GO5, 45E05     

Empirical likelihood for partial linear models

In this paper the empirical likelihood method due to Owen (1988,Biometrika,75, 237–249) is applied to partial linear random models. A nonparametric version of Wilks' theorem is derived. The theorem is then used to construct confidence regions of the parameter vector in the partial linear models, which has correct asymptotic coverage. A simulation study is conducted to compare the empirical likelihood and normal approximation based method. Quenched asymptotics of the ground state energy of random Schrödinger operators with scaled Gibbsian potentials

 This article describes the almost sure infinite volume asymptotics of the ground state energy of random Schr?dinger operators with scaled Gibbsian potentials. The random potential is obtained by distributing soft obstacles according to an infinite volume grand canonical tempered Gibbs measure with a superstable pair interaction. There is no restriction on the strength of the pair interaction: it may be taken, e.g., at a critical point. The potential is scaled with the box size in a critical way, i.e. the scale is determined by the typical size of large deviations in the Gibbsian cloud. The almost sure infinite volume asymptotics of the ground state energy is described in terms of two equivalent deterministic variational principles involving only thermodynamic quantities. The qualitative behaviour of the ground state energy asymptotics is analysed: Depending on the dimension and on the H?lder exponents of the free energy density, it is identified which cases lead to a phase transition of the asymptotic behaviour of the ground state energy. Representation of Hilbert algebras and implicative semilattices

In this paper we shall give a topological representation for Hilbert algebras that extend the topological representation given by A. Diego in [4]. For implicative semilattices this representation gives a full duality. We shall also consider the representation for Boolean ring.     

CAS-supported multiple representations in elementary linear algebra

Usually the Gaussian algorithm (GA) is presented at school as a method of solving a given system of linear equations by reducing it to a “triangular form”. In contrast to this technically oriented view, I will demonstrate a CAS-supported learning environment which includes a visual representation of GA and an activity-oriented «Gauss-game». This game stresses the concept of elementary matrices and leads directly to a partial, implementation of GA in the form of a «semi-automatic” functional CAS-program. These multiple representation of GA tries to take into consideration the research results on mental representations, to design rich variations of student activities and thereby to lead leading to webbeb concepts around GA. The CAS MuPAD is used.     

Fixed point of multivalued mapping in uniform spaces

In this paper we prove some new fixed point theorems for multivalued mappings on orbitally complete uniform spaces.
