Laser-induced multiphoton dissociation ofn-butyl ether

The pulsed CO₂-laser-induced multiphoton dissociation of n-butyl vinyl ether is studied. Comprehensive measurements have been performed for 9.6.μm and 10.6 μm irradiation. The corresponding dissociation product distributions show distinct differences for the two irradiation wavelengths, the most important finding being that acetylene is only produced at 9.6 μm.     

Spektroskopie der Protonen aus der Reaktion Ni(n,p) Co bei einer Neutronenenergie von 14 MeV mit einem Teleskop aus Halbleiterdetektoren

Protons from nuclear reactions induced by 14 MeV neutrons are analysed with solid state detectors. A high background is caused by nuclear reactions in silicon. The application of a telescope with twodE/dx- detectors allows to suppress this background extensively. Proton identification is made by use of a two-dimensional analyser. The telescope is tested by recoil protons with polyethylene. This arrangement may also be used as a neutron spectrometer. The proton spectra from the reaction Ni(n, p)Co in forward direction (0°) and on an angle of 90° are compared. Nuclear temperature and level-density parameter are evaluated from statistical theory plots. The contribution of direct processes is estimated.     

Sequential processes in the14N(τ,pα)12C* reaction

α-particle and proton spectra in coincidence with the 4.44 MeVγ-ray from the¹²C first excited state have been taken atE _τ MeV. Several states in¹³N and¹⁶O are seen to contribute to the decay sequenceα?p andp?α respectively. Estimates are given for the branching of these two decay modes and for a possible simultaneous break-up.     

Study of double pomeron exchange in pp collisions at √s=31GeV

The reaction pp→ppπ⁺π^? at √s=31GeV was studied at the Split Field Magnet Facility of the CERN-ISR. Selecting events with two leading protons of x>0.9 and a rapidity gap Δy>2 between the protons and both pions a sample of 720 events is obtained representing a cross section of 25±10μb. The mass distribution of the dipion system, x and p_T distributions for the protons are presented and analyzed for the presence of double pomeron exchange.
