High-temperature dispersion relations of the phonon modes in a cubic PbTiO3 single crystal have been investigated along the [ξ 0 0] and [ξ ξ 0] directions by inelastic neutron scattering. Above T c, the phonon dispersions are only temperature-dependent close to the Brillouin zone centre where the mode softening comes through. The measurements indicate large cubic anisotropy of the elastic tensor and relatively low anisotropy of the soft mode dispersion. The differences from an earlier inelastic neutron scattering study are discussed.  相似文献

Infrared reflectivity spectra of antiferromagnetic incipient ferroelectric EuTiO3 were investigated up to 600 K. Three polar phonons typical for the cubic perovskite Pm[`3]mPm\bar {3}m structure were observed. Analysis of phonon plasma frequencies showed that the lowest-energy TO1 phonon corresponds predominantly to the Slater mode describing vibration of Ti cations against the oxygen octahedra and the TO2 phonon expresses vibrations of the Eu cation against the TiO6 octahedra. The highest frequency TO4 phonon represents O-octahedra bending. Incipient ferroelectric behavior of the permittivity is caused by pronounced softening of the TO1 phonon, which is coupled to the TO2 mode. Although the Eu cations are not involved in the TO1 mode, the spin ordering of the 4f electrons at Eu cations has influence on the frequency of the TO1 mode due to Eu-O-Eu super-exchange interaction. This is probably responsible for the 7% change of the permittivity induced by the magnetic field in the antiferromagnetic phase, as reported by Katsufuji and Takagi [Phys. Rev. ABSTRACT

This article is devoted to a detailed analysis of the inner structure of the Ising line, a topological defect separating two parts of a ferroelectric Bloch domain wall with opposite helicity, in the framework of the phenomenological Ginzburg–Landau–Devonshire model. Results performed for Ising lines in a ?211?-oriented 180-degree domain wall of rhombohedral BaTiO3 suggest remarkably strong dependence of the polarization profiles on the form of gradient terms. Profiles of the skyrmion density, vorticity and divergence of the polarization field were calculated numerically in the few-nm vicinity of the Ising line defect.  相似文献

Inclusive production ofK 0 andK * (892)0 mesons inK + A-interactions (A=Be, Cu, Pb) at the energy 11.2 GeV has been investigated to study hadronisation of the leading \(\bar s\) -quark; the results are presented. Double differential cross sections d2σ/dx f dp t 2 were measured in the region of incident particle fragmentation (0.4≦x f ≦1,p t ≦0.5 GeV/c). The experimental data obtained were analysed on the basis of the Lund model FRITIOF and a quark-gluon model that takes into account colour screening and hadron formation length effects. The experimental data confirm the picture of hadronisation of the leading \(\bar s\) -quark developed in the latter model.  相似文献

The chemical attachment of enantiomerically pure trianglamines to silicon wafers through isocyanate functions was performed. The self-assembled monolayer was analyzed by ATR-FTIR, ellipsometry, AFM, contact angle measurements. An AFM tip was functionalized by enantiomerically pure trianglamine using the same pathway. Chemical force microscopy showed chiral recognition between the functionalized tip and the functionalized wafer.  相似文献

The seminal paper by Zhirnov (1958 Zh. Eksp. Teor. Fiz. 35 1175-80) explained why the structure of domain walls in ferroelectrics and ferromagnets is drastically different. Here we show that the antiparallel ferroelectric walls in rhombohedral ferroelectric BaTiO(3) can be switched between the Ising-like state (typical for ferroelectrics) and a Bloch-like state (unusual for ferroelectric walls but typical for magnetic ones). Phase-field simulations using a Ginzburg-Landau-Devonshire model suggest that this symmetry-breaking transition can be induced by a compressive epitaxial stress. The strain-tunable chiral properties of these domain walls promise a range of novel phenomena in epitaxial ferroelectric thin films.  相似文献

The Letter suggests treating the infrared reflectivity spectra of single crystal perovskite relaxors as fine-grained ferroelectric ceramics: locally frozen polarization makes the dielectric function strongly anisotropic in the phonon frequency range and the random orientation of the polarization at nanoscopic scale requires taking into account the inhomogeneous depolarization field. Employing a simple effective medium approximation (the Bruggeman symmetrical formula) turns out to be sufficient for reproducing all principal features of room temperature reflectivity of Pb(Mg(1/3)Nb(2/3))O3. One of the reflectivity bands is identified as a geometrical resonance entirely related to the nanoscale polarization inhomogeneity. The approach provides a general guide for systematic determination of the polar mode frequencies split by the inhomogeneous polarization at the nanometer scale.  相似文献
