The reliability of the single comparator method in neutron activation analysis has been studied by comparing the calculated and experimental k values and by determining the concentration of trace elements in iron. The method has been applied to the analysis of tea leaves for thirteen elements; their concentrations varied over five orders of magnitude.  相似文献

Reaction profiles and energetics for the reactions of substituted benzaldehydes with a series of different simple metal hydrides (BH(3), BMeH(2), BMe(2)H, AlH(3), and AlMe(2)H) are examined computationally. B3LYP/6-31G optimizations and MP2/6-311G single point energy calculations revealed that the Al reagents are more reactive than B reagents. Replacement of H with Me on BH(3) or AlH(3) makes the reduction transition state (TS) less stable. Accordingly the overall reactivity is in the order AlH(3) > AlMe(2)H > BH(3) > BMe(2)H. The Hammett rho value for substituted benzaldehydes (BAs) is negative for the initial complex formation and positive for the hydride-transfer step. The size and the sign of the apparent rho value depend on the relative stabilities of the separated reactants and the complex. The TS structures vary according to the Hammond postulate for substituted BAs and the variation is reflected in carbonyl-carbon and aldehyde-deuterium isotope effects. Comparison of the reaction profiles of the monomer and dimer reagents reveals that the real reacting species is the monomer in the gas phase for BH(3) but the dimer for BMe(2)H.  相似文献

The doubly functional aminotransferase BtrS in the 2-deoxystreptamine (DOS) biosynthesis, in which two transaminations are involved, was characterized by a genetic as well as a chemical approach with the heterologously expressed enzyme. The gene disruption study clearly showed that BtrS is involved, in addition to the previously confirmed first transamination, in the second transamination as well. This dual function of BtrS for the DOS biosynthesis was further confirmed by the structural determination of the reverse reaction product from DOS. Enantiospecific formation of the reverse reaction product from DOS clearly showed that BtrS distinguishes the enantiotopic amino groups of DOS, but in contrast, both enantiomers of 2-deoxy-scyllo-inosose (DOI) were efficiently accepted by BtrS to give a racemic product. This unique stereochemical recognition of DOI chirality and DOS prochirality by BtrS is mechanistically explained by a specific hydrogen-bond donating force in the enzyme active site as a particular feature of this doubly functional enzyme.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of signature for relations in mapping class groups and show that the signature of a Lefschetz fibration over the 2-sphere is the sum of the signatures for basic relations contained in its monodromy. Combining explicit calculations of the signature cocycle with a technique of substituting positive relations, we give some new examples of non-holomorphic Lefschetz fibrations of genus and which violate slope bounds for non-hyperelliptic fibrations on algebraic surfaces of general type.

Determination of trace impurities in zinc selenide was carried out by substoichiometric neutron activation analysis. Trace impurities were separated from matrix elements by suitable procedures and determined by substoichiometric methods, i.e., Au was extracted with rhodamine-B, Ag and Cu with dithizone, Cr with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate, Co with 1-nitroso-2-naphthol, and Sb with cupferron. Two sorts of zinc selenide single crystals were supplied for analysis and the following values were obtained as impurity concentration; Au 0.36, 0.076 ppb, Ag 42, 32 ppb, Cr. 1.8, 0.63 ppm, Co 0.16, 0.0079 ppm, Sb 8.5, 5.9 ppb and Cu 1.4, 0.44 ppm. The behavior of copper by heat-treatment of zinc selenide was also studied by means of substoichiometric isotope dilution analysis.  相似文献

We have developed a thermal neutron calibration method using a reactor produced neutron beam in JRR-3M of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency. Neutron-induced prompt gamma ray analysis has usually been performed in this beam line. Neutron energy distributions with negligible contributions from epithermal neutrons were measured by a time-of-flight method with a chopper made of 6LiF powder. The thermal neutron flux was determined by a gold foil activation method. We found that the thermal neutron beam in JRR-3M was well suited for calibration, neutron detector development or neutron dosimetry.  相似文献

Electrons photoexcited in K(3)Ta(3)B(2)O(12), an efficient photocatalyst for the water-splitting reaction driven by ultraviolet light, were observed using time-resolved IR absorption spectroscopy with microsecond resolution. When the catalyst was irradiated with 266 nm light pulses, a structureless absorption appeared at 3000-1500 cm(-1). The absorption was assigned to the optical transition of electrons that were band gap-excited and then trapped in mid-gap states. The absorbance decayed with a time delay because of the electron-hole recombination. The rate of recombination in an argon atmosphere was sensitive to the composition of the starting material used in the catalyst preparation. The electron decay was accelerated by exposing the catalyst to water vapor. The degree of acceleration was qualitatively correlated with the H(2) production rate observed during steady-state light irradiation.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Radon, thoron and associated progeny measurements have been carried out in 71 dwellings of Douala city, Cameroon. The radon–thoron discriminative detectors (RADUET) were used to estimate the radon and thoron concentration, while thoron progeny monitors measured equilibrium equivalent thoron concentration (EETC). Radon, thoron and thoron progeny concentrations vary from 31?±?1 to 436?±?12 Bq?m–3, 4?±?7 to 246?±?5 Bq?m–3, and 1.5?±?0.9 to 13.1?±?9.4 Bq?m–3. The mean value of the equilibrium factor for thoron is estimated at 0.11?±?0.16. The annual effective dose due to exposure to indoor radon and progeny ranges from 0.6 to 9?mSv?a–1 with an average value of 2.6?±?0.1?mSv?a–1. The effective dose due to the exposure to thoron and progeny vary from 0.3 to 2.9?mSv?a–1 with an average value of 1.0?±?0.4?mSv?a–1. The contribution of thoron and its progeny to the total inhalation dose ranges from 7 to 60?% with an average value of 26?%; thus their contributions should not be neglected in the inhalation dose assessment.  相似文献
