Flow pattern,void fraction and pressure drop of refrigerant two-phase flow in a horizontal pipe—II: Analysis of frictional pressure drop

Two-phase flow in horizontal pipe was analyzed with simplified models for annular and stratified flow. The velocity profiles for the liquid and gas phase were described with the Prandtl mixing length. From this analysis, the frictional pressure drop was calculated with the modified Baker map for flow pattern transition. The intermediate region, i.e. wavy flow, was interpolated between annular and stratified flow. Comparison of this analysis with existing experimental data of refrigerants showed good agreement.     

Critical phenomena of ferromagnetic cobalt disulfide

The simultaneous measurements of magnetization and resistivity of a ferromagnetic CoS₂ near the critical temperature have shown that the negative divergence of $\text{d}\text{ρ}\text{d}\text{T}$ occurs exactly at the Curie temperature of 115.9 K. The magnetization satisfies the static scaling law.     

A concise representation of adsorbate-surface interactions. I. Formulation and model calculation for adsorption of Co on Cu(100) surface

A method is presented to clarify the concepts of the chemisorptive bonds among many chemisorptive interactions. The eigenfunctions of the system are transformed into new orbitals, and the chemisorptive interactions are represented in terms of a few transformed orbitals. To show the usefulness of the present method, the adsorption of CO on the Cu(100) surface is examined within the CNDO/2 approximation. The donation and the type interaction is clearly visualized, and the information of the spatial extent of the chemisorptive interactions is also obtained.     

On the relaxation of trapped electrons in glassy hydrocarbons irradiated at 4 K

In contrast to previous reports e^?_t in 3MHx produced at 4 K shows trap relaxation when warmed to 77 K. The relaxation in 3 MHx and 3MP occurs without loss of e^?_t, and results in an increase in ?_max as well as a shift of λ_max.     

Impairment in S-phase entry of splenocytes of Parp-1 knockout mice

One immediate cellular response to DNA damage is the polyADP-ribosylation reaction by poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (Parp-1). The importance of Parp-1 has been established in many cellular processes, such as the maintenance of genomic stability, DNA repair and cell-death induction. Here, we established Parp-1^−/− mice of C57BL/6J congenic strain and characterized the role of Parp-1 in cell-cycle progression. In this study, we also improved a method to observe G0/G1 to S-phase transition of splenocytes and bone marrow cells prepared from mice. The cells were cultured and stimulated with mitogens (50 μM ionomycin/1 μM phorbol 12, 13-dibutyrate). We found that addition of a commercially available growth supportive reagent, BM Condimed ^RH1, greatly enhanced the transition of G0/G1 to the S-phase, which was determined by bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) incorporation to DNA. Using this method, G0/G1 to the S-phase entry was measured using splenocytes derived from Parp-1^−/−, Parp-1^+/− and wild-type (Parp-1^+/+) mice. DNA synthesis in Parp-1^+/+ and Parp-1^+/− splenocytes started from day 1 after addition of mitogens, whereas that in Parp-1^−/− cells started from day 2. The peak of the S-phase was at day 2 in all genotypes and notably DNA synthesis in Parp-1^−/− cells was approximately halved compared to Parp-1^+/+ cells on day 2, 3 and 4. These results suggested that Parp-1 is involved in positive regulation of S-phase entry in quiescent mouse splenocytes.     

从石英光纤废料中制备硅新工艺的实验研究

对石英光纤废弃物氢热还原过程进行了热力学分析,并利用X射线衍射分析法(XRD)、激光拉曼光谱(Laser Raman Spectroscopy)、X射线光电子能谱(XPS)及化学分析等对该新工艺进行了实验研究.产物中只检测到硅和氧两种元素且金属键硅质量含量在15%以上,说明该方法不仅可以实现该类危险废弃物的无害化处理,而且还可以作为高纯度太阳级硅的一个潜在的供给渠道,从而弥补太阳能电池硅光伏材料供应的不足.     

Family of symplectic implicit Runge-Kutta formulae

A family of formulae for the sympletic IRK method is investigated. Specifically, focus is given to general solutions for formula parameters of IRK under the symplectic and the order conditions. Examples of such formulae are constructed for up to three stages.     

Polymerization of vinyl compounds in the presence of perfluoroisopropenyl ester

To report a new polymerization reaction phenomenon, this article examines the polymerization of butyl vinyl ether and N‐vinylcarbazole in the presence of 2‐benzoxypentafluoropropene [CF₂?C(CF₃)OCOC₆H₅ or BPFP]. The homopolymer of butyl vinyl ether was produced in the presence of a catalytic amount of BPFP in high yields. N‐Vinylcarbazole, which is a monomer well‐known for producing its homopolymer under cationic polymerization conditions, also yielded its homopolymer in the presence of BPFP.
