Porous metal-organic framework compounds with coordinatively unsaturated metal sites on the inner surface of the pores promise to be valuable adsorbents and catalyst systems, either in industrial applications or as model systems to study interactions with guest molecules. The dehydration process of two isostructural microporous coordination polymers, [M2(dhtp)(H2O)2].8 H2O, termed CPO-27-M (M=Co, Zn; H(4)dhtp=2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid) was investigated by in situ variable temperature X-ray diffraction. Both compounds contain accessible coordination sites at the metal after complete removal of the solvent. However, despite the analogy of their crystal structures, they behave differently during dehydration. For CPO-27-Co, water desorption is a smooth topotactic process of second order with no concomitant space group change and no increase in microstrain, which is beneficial for the applicability of the material. Removal of the water propagates from the center of the channels outwards. The coordinating water molecule at the metal desorbs only when almost all the bulk water in the pores has disappeared. In contrast, discontinuities in the powder pattern of CPO-27-Zn indicate the occurrence of first-order transitions. The crystal structures of four of the five individual phases could be determined. The structure of the intermediate phase occurring just before the framework is completely evacuated was elusive in respect to full structure solution and refinement, but it is most probably related to the removal of the axis of threefold symmetry. In this comment to a recent paper [Anal. Chim. Acta 585 (2007) 241-245], we report a comparison study on Mn oxide-related compounds with different crystallographic forms, which distinguish between β-MnO2 and α-MnO2 type materials via Raman scattering (RS) spectroscopy. The tetragonal rutile-type β-MnO2 is characterized by a RS band at ∼667 cm−1 of symmetry A1g, whereas the α-MnO2 type materials feature two main RS contributions at about 574 and 634 cm−1, belonging to Ag spectroscopic species of a tetragonal hollandite-type framework. This work deals with a viscous two-phase liquid–gas model relevant to the flow in wells and pipelines. The liquid is treated as an incompressible fluid whereas the gas is assumed to be polytropic. The model is rewritten in terms of Lagrangian coordinates and is studied in a free boundary setting where the liquid and gas masses are of compact support initially, and continuous at the boundary. Consequently, the initial masses involve a transition to single-phase gas flow and vacuum at the boundary. An appropriate balance between pressure and viscous forces is identified which allows obtaining pointwise upper and lower estimates of masses. These estimates rely on the assumption of a certain relation between the rate of degeneracy of the viscosity coefficient and the rate that determines how fast the initial masses are vanishing at the boundary. By combining these estimates with basic energy type of estimates, higher order regularity estimates are obtained. The existence of global weak solutions is then proved by showing compactness for a class of semi-discrete approximations. 相似文献

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) has successfully provided thin films of organic-inorganic hybrid materials based on saturated linear carboxylic acids and trimethylaluminium (TMA). Films were grown for seven carboxylic acids: oxalic, malonic, succinic, glutaric, pimelic, suberic and sebacic acid, i.e. ranging from 2 to 10 carbon atoms in the molecular structure. These processes show exceptionally high growth rates; up to 4.3 nm/cycle for the pimelic acid-TMA system. Quartz crystal microbalance measurements of the growth dynamics indicate that all systems are of a self limiting ALD-type. Nevertheless, temperature dependent growth was observed in several systems. The width of the ALD windows shows correlations with the length of the carbon chains. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy clearly proved that the deposited films are of a hybrid character, where the carboxylic acids primarily form bidentate complexes, though bridging complexes may also form. All films are X-ray amorphous as deposited. The films were further analyzed by atomic force microscopy for surface roughness and topography, UV-Vis spectroscopy and ellipsometry for optical properties, and the goniometer method for measuring sessile drops for surface wetting properties. Apart from the oxalic and malonic acid-TMA systems, the films are stable in contact with water. The films are generally smooth, transparent and have a refractive index close to 1.5. The complete coverage and accurate growth control offered by the ALD technique is here proven to provide surface-functionalized hybrid materials resembling metal-organic frameworks (MOF), probably as rather dense structures, yet with substantial potential for applications. 相似文献
