Radiation from the UV excimer lasers, with the fluence above the ablation threshold, can etch the polymer surfaces by photoablation. In some cases different microstructures may appear on the surface during the laser ablation. In this paper the effect of the laser spot size on the cone formation on polyethersulfone films has been investigated. The experiments have been performed with a XeCl laser at the wavelength of 308 nm and at the fluences of 70 and 100 mJ/cm2 at air. For the investigation of the effect of the laser spot size on cone formation, the samples were irradiated at two different laser spot sizes of w1 and w2 = 0.1 w1. The morphology of the processed surface was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It has shown that the shape, size and density of cones change with the change of the laser spot size. Also, the number of pulses and the pulse repetition rate which are needed for threshold of cone formation are affected by the laser beam spot size on the surface. 相似文献

Etheno-damaged DNA adducts such as 3,N 4-ethenocytosine, N 2,3-ethenoguanine, and 1,N 2-ethenoguanine are associated with carcinogenesis and cell death. These inevitable damages are counteracted by glycosylase enzymes, which cleave damaged nucleobases from DNA. Escherichia coli alkyl purine DNA glycosylase is the enzyme responsible for excising damaged etheno adducts from DNA in humans. In an effort to understand the intrinsic properties of these molecules, we examined gas-phase acidity values and proton affinities (PA) of multiple sites of these molecules as well as equilibrium tautomerization and base pairing properties by quantum mechanical calculations. We also used calculations to compare the acidic and basic properties of these etheno adduct with those of the normal bases—cytosine and guanine nucleobases. We hypothesize that alkyl DNA glycosylase may cleave certain damaged nucleobases as anions and that the active site may take advantage of a nonpolar environment to favor deprotonated cytosine or guanine as a leaving group versus damaged nucleobases. 相似文献

The effect of XeCl laser irradiation on biocompatibility of polyethersulfone (PES) film surface was investigated. For this
purpose, the surface of PES film was irradiated with different number of pulses at different fluences. The treated surfaces
were characterized by attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), scanning electron microscopy
(SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and contact angle measurements. The platelet adhesion and cell culture measurements were
done on the treated surface for investigation of the biocompatibility. It was shown that, irradiation of surface with 500
pulses at a fluence of 25 mJ/cm2 is the most optimal condition for improving the platelet adhesion on the PES surface with a XeCl laser. 相似文献
