Freeze-out conditions in Heavy Ion Collisions are generally determined by comparing experimental results for ratios of particle yields with theoretical predictions based on applications of the Hadron Resonance Gas model. We discuss here how this model dependent determination of freeze-out parameters may eventually be replaced by theoretical predictions based on equilibrium QCD thermodynamics.  相似文献

Studies of QCD thermodynamics on the lattice now can be performed with an almost realistic quark mass spectrum and on quite large lattices. This will soon allow a controlled extrapolation to the continuum limit. We present recent results on the QCD equation of state, discuss deconfining and chiral symmetry restoring aspects of the QCD transition at vanishing chemical potential and show results on baryon number, electric charge and strangeness fluctuations. We briefly discuss the generic structure of Taylor expansion coefficients in the vicinity of the chiral phase transition and comment on the determination of the anticipated chiral critical point within the framework of Taylor expansions of the QCD partition function.  相似文献

A discretization method based on stabilized space–time finite elements is presented for the numerical analysis of three–fluid flows of immiscible and incompressible fluids. Signed distance functions are used to assign the material properties to each spatial point in the domain. The motion and the change in topology of fluid–fluid interfaces are implicitly described by the level–set method. Strong and weak discontinuities in the fields of the physical state variables are captured by locally enriched approximations based on the partition–of–unity concept. X‐Treme is a soft X‐ray beamline recently built in the Swiss Light Source at the Paul Scherrer Institut in collaboration with École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. The beamline is dedicated to polarization‐dependent X‐ray absorption spectroscopy at high magnetic fields and low temperature. The source is an elliptically polarizing undulator. The end‐station has a superconducting 7 T–2 T vector magnet, with sample temperature down to 2 K and is equipped with an in situ sample preparation system for surface science. The beamline commissioning measurements, which show a resolving power of 8000 and a maximum flux at the sample of 4.7 × 1012 photons s?1, are presented. Scientific examples showing X‐ray magnetic circular and X‐ray magnetic linear dichroism measurements are also presented.  相似文献

We provide evidence for the influence of thermal fluctuations of Goldstone modes on the chiral condensate at finite temperature. We show that at fixed temperature, T<Tc, in the vicinity of the chiral transition temperature this leads to a characteristic dependence of the chiral condensate on the square root of the light quark mass (ml), which is expected for 3-dimensional models with broken O(N) symmetry. As a consequence the chiral susceptibility shows a strong quark mass dependence for all temperatures below T<Tc and diverges like in the chiral limit.  相似文献

We calculate the differential conductance G(V) through a quantum dot in an applied magnetic field. We use a Keldysh conserving approximation for weakly correlated and the scattering-states numerical renormalization group for the intermediate and strongly correlated regime out of equilibrium. In the weakly correlated regime, the Zeeman splitting observable in G(V) strongly depends on the asymmetry of the device. In contrast, in the strongly correlated regime the position Δ(K) of the Zeeman-split zero-bias anomaly is almost independent of such asymmetries and of the order of the Zeeman energy Δ(0). We find a crossover from the purely spin-fluctuation driven Kondo regime at small magnetic fields with Δ(K)<Δ(0) to a regime at large fields where the contribution of charge fluctuations induces larger splittings with Δ(K)>Δ(0) as it was observed in recent experiments.  相似文献
