Here we demonstrate the use of reverse titration - competitive ligand exchange–adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry (RT-CLE–ACSV) for the analysis of iron (Fe) binding ligands in seawater. In contrast to the forward titration, which examines excess ligands in solution, RT-CLE–ACSV examines the existing Fe-ligand complexes by increasing the concentration of added (electroactive) ligand (1-nitroso-2-naphthol) and analysis of the proportion of Fe bound to the added ligand. The data manipulation allows the accurate characterisation of ligands at equal or lower concentrations than Fe in seawater, and disregards electrochemically inert dissolved Fe such as some colloidal phases. The method is thus superior to the forward titration in environments with high Fe and low ligand concentrations or high concentrations of inert Fe.  相似文献

The autoignition of dimethyl ether (DME) with temperature inhomogeneities is investigated by one-dimensional numerical simulations with detailed chemistry at high pressure and a constant volume. The primary purpose of the study is to provide an understanding of the autoignition of DME in a simplified configuration that is relevant to homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engines. The ignition structure and the negative temperature coefficient (NTC) behaviour are characterised in a homogeneous domain and one-dimensional domains with thermal stratification, at different initial mean temperatures and length scales. The thermal stratification is shown to strongly affect the spatial structure and temporal progress of ignition. The importance of diffusion and conduction on the ignition progress is assessed. It is shown that the effects of molecular diffusion decay relative to those of chemical reaction as the length-scale increases. This is to be expected, however the present study shows that these characteristics also depend on the mean temperature due to NTC behaviour. For the range of conditions studied here, which encompass a range of stratification length scales expected in HCCI engines, the effects of molecular transport are found to be small compared with chemical reaction effects for mean temperatures within the NTC regime. This is in contrast to previous work with fuels with single-stage ignition behaviour where practically realisable temperature gradients can lead to molecular transport effects becoming important. In addition, thermal stratification is demonstrated to result in significant reductions of the pressure-rise rate (PRR), even for the present fuel with two-stage ignition and NTC behaviour. The reduction of PRR is however strongly dependent on the mean initial temperature. The stratification length-scale is also shown to have an important influence on the pressure oscillations, with large-amplitude oscillations possible for larger length scales typical of integral scales in HCCI engines.  相似文献

Monodisperse polystyrene latexes are prepared by seeded emulsion polymerization; however, sizes larger than 2μm are difficult to prepare because of the creaming and settling of the particles, and their sensitivity to mechanical shear. Preparation in space would obviate the creaming and settling, and allow agitation just sufficient for good heat transfer and mixing. Three polymerizations yielding 3-5μm size particles were carried out successfully on the third flight of the “Columbia” launched March 22, 1982; however, four polymerizations yielding sizes up to 10μm on the fourth flight launched June 27, 1982, were incomplete owing to apparatus malfunction. The results of these polymerizations and the prospects of developing a preparative space process are reviewed  相似文献

A chirped pulse amplification (CPA) laser configuration capable of driving a plasma beat wave into saturation before modulation instabilities can grow is reported. The proposal is based on generating a single sub-ps, broad bandwidth pulse (~16 nm) and stretching and filtering to select two wavelength components (separation ~7 nm). The two spectral components are temporally stretched (to >100 ps) and separated (by ~1 ns). The pulses are then amplified sequentially in a single Nd:glass chain to greater than 15 J per pulse. Using a single-pass reflective grating compressor, the pulses are compressed (from 2 to 5 ps) and automatically synchronized. The system is capable of introducing a chirp, such that the compressed pulses can compensate for relativistic detuning of the plasma wave. The optimum laser amplification and recombination configuration for generating a saturated laser-driven beatwave is presented, and options for future work are discussed  相似文献
