For non-abelian simple objects in a unitary modular category, the density of their braid group representations, the #P-hard evaluation of their associated link invariants, and the BQP-completeness of their anyonic quantum computing models are closely related. We systematically study such properties of the non-abelian simple objects in the metaplectic modular categories SO(m)2 for an odd integer m ≥ 3. The simple objects with quantum dimensions \({\sqrt{m}}\) have finite image braid group representations, and their link invariants are classically efficient to evaluate. We also provide classically efficient simulations of their braid group representations. These simulations of the braid group representations can be regarded as qudit generalizations of the Knill–Gottesmann theorem for the qubit case. The simple objects of dimension 2 give us a surprising result: while their braid group representations have finite images and are efficiently simulable classically after a generalized localization, their link invariants are #P-hard to evaluate exactly. We sharpen the #P-hardness by showing that any sufficiently accurate approximation of their associated link invariants is already #P-hard.  相似文献

Special considerations and techniques are desired for the preparation of small actinide counting sources. Counting sources have been prepared on metal disk substrates (planchets) with an active area of only 0.079 mm2. This represents a 93.75% reduction in deposition area from standard electrodeposition methods. The actinide distribution upon the smaller planchet must remain thin and uniform to allow alpha particle emissions to escape the counting source with a minimal amount of self-attenuation. This work describes the development of micro-electrodeposition methods and optimization of the technique with respect to deposition time and current density for various planchet sizes.  相似文献

In order to determine unambiguously the bearing of a sound source, a fish must be able to resolve acoustic pressure and the components of the acoustic displacement vector from the signals detected by the otolithic organs. A new hypothesis for the processing of acoustical information by bony fish is presented. It is demonstrated that much of the processing required to do this may be implicit in the structure of the ear and its associated neural innervation. Possible algorithms are presented that the central nervous system might use to further process the derived information to localize a sound source and discriminate frequency and range. The hypothesis is shown to be consistent with much of what is known of the morphology and physiology of the auditory system of bony fishes.  相似文献

We report evidence for the decay mode B-->phiphiK based on an analysis of 78 fb(-1) of data collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. This is the first example of a b-->sssss transition. The branching fraction for this decay is measured to be B(B+/--->phiphiK+/-)=(2.6(+1.1)(-0.9)+/-0.3)x10(-6) for a phiphi invariant mass below 2.85 GeV/c(2). We consider various equilibrium statistical mechanics models with combined short- and long-range interactions and identify the crossover to mean-field behavior, finding anomalous scaling in the width of the mean-field region, as well as in the mean-field amplitudes. We then show that this model enables us, in many cases, to determine the universal critical properties of systems on a small-world network. Finally, we consider nonequilibrium processes.  相似文献

We present a measurement of the standard model CP violation parameter sin2 phi(1) (also known as sin2beta) based on a 10.5 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. One neutral B meson is reconstructed in the J/psiK(S), psi(2S)K(S), chi(c1)K(S), eta(c)K(S), J/psiK(L), or J/psipi(0) CP-eigenstate decay channel and the flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its charged particle decay products. From the asymmetry in the distribution of the time interval between the two B-meson decay points, we determine sin2 phi(1) = 0.58(+0.32)(-0.34)(stat)+0.09-0.10(syst).  相似文献

Krypton in a triangular 2D solid phase was observed to form on the (100) surfaces of MgO crystallites. This system is unique because the physisorbed inert gas overlayer is not only incommensurate, but of a symmetry entirely unrelated to that of the substrate. Melting of the adsorbate occurred in the neighborhood of 70K for all coverages studied.  相似文献

Direct CP violation in the b-->sgamma process is a sensitive probe of physics beyond the standard model. We report a measurement of the CP asymmetry in B-->X(s)gamma, where the hadronic recoil system X(s) is reconstructed using a pseudoreconstruction technique. In this approach there is negligible contamination from b-->dgamma decays, which are expected to have a much larger CP asymmetry. We find A(CP)=0.002+/-0.050(stat)+/-0.030(syst) for B-->X(s)gamma events having recoil mass smaller than 2.1 GeV/c(2). The analysis is based on a data sample of 140 fb(-1) recorded at the upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) storage ring.  相似文献
