Poly(styrene-co-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) and poly(methyl methacrylate-co- dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) were prepared by solution polymerization. These polymers were quaternized by methyl iodide and n-hexyl bromide. The produced polymers were used as support in the aqueous oxidation of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol (DBP) using hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by tris(2-aminoethyl)amine copper(II) complex “Cu(II)-tren complex” anchored on the prepared polymers. The products obtained from the reactions were 3,3′-5,5′-tetra-tert-butyldiphenoquinine (DPQ) and 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-benzoquinone (BQ). No reaction products were obtained when the reaction was carried out in the absence of polymeric catalyst. The polymer composition and reaction medium greatly affect product distribution of the reaction. Polar organic solvent like DMF and methanol favor the formation of DPQ, while nonploar organic solvent like benzene and methylene chloride favor the formation of BQ. Hydrophobic branches of polymers 6 (PS-HexBr-Cu-TREN) and 8 (PMMA-HexBr-Cu-TREN) favor BQ formation as the weight of support increased. On the other hand, DPQ is favored in the presence of hydrophilic branches as observed for both polymeric catalysts 5 (PS-MeI-Cu-TREN) and 7 (PMMA-MeI-Cu-TREN).  相似文献

In this paper, we use homotopy analysis method (HAM) to solve two‐point nonlinear boundary value problems that have at least one solution. The new approach provides the solution in the form of a rapidly convergent series with easily computable components using symbolic computation software. The scheme shows importance of choice of convergence‐control parameter ? to guarantee the convergence of the solutions of nonlinear differential equations. This scheme is tested on three nonlinear exactly solvable differential equations. Two of the examples are practical in science and engineering. The effects of ion-beam bombardment on the physical and chemical properties of poly(allyl diglycol carbonate) (CR-39) polymer have been investigated. CR-39 samples were bombarded with 320 keV Ar and 130 keV He ions at fluences ranging from 1 × 1013 to 2 × 1016 ions/cm2. The nature and extent of radiation damage induced were studied by UV–VIS spectrometry, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, as well as Vickers' hardness measurements. In addition, the effect of ion fluence on the wetting properties of ion-beam bombarded CR-39 polymer was determined by measuring the contact angle for distilled water. UV–VIS spectra of bombarded samples reveal that the optical band gap decreases with increasing ion fluence for both Ar and He ions. In the FTIR spectra, changes in the intensity of the bands on irradiation relative to pristine samples occurred with the appearance of new bands. XRD analyses showed that the degree of ordering of the CR-39 polymer is dependent on the ion fluence. Changes of surface layer composition and an increase in the number of carbonaceous clusters produced important change in the energy gap and the surface wettability. The surface hardness increased from 10.54 MPa for pristine samples to 28.98 and 23.35 MPa for samples bombarded with Ar and He ions at the highest fluence, respectively.  相似文献

Medical uses of ionizing radiation now represent>95% of all man-made radiation exposure, and is the largest single radiation source after natural background radiation. Therefore, it is important to quantify the amount of radiation received by occupational individuals to optimize the working conditions for staff, and further, to compare doses in different departments to ensure compatibility with the recommended standards. For some groups working with unsealed sources in nuclear medicine units, the hands are more heavily exposed to ionizing radiation than the rest of the body. A personal dosimetry service runs extensively in Egypt. But doses to extremities have not been measured to a wide extent. The purpose of this study was to investigate the equivalent radiation doses to the fingers for five different nuclear medicine staff occupational groups for which heavy irradiation of the hands was suspected. Finger doses were measured for (1) nuclear medicine physicians, (2) technologists, (3) nurses and (4) physicists. The fifth group contains three technicians handling 131I, while the others handled 99mTc. Each staff member working with the radioactive material wore two thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) during the whole testing period, which lasted from 1 to 4 weeks. Staff performed their work on a regular basis throughout the month, and mean annual doses were calculated for these groups. Results showed that the mean equivalent doses to the fingers of technologist, nurse and physicist groups were 30.24±14.5, 30.37±17.5 and 16.3±7.7 μSv/GBq, respectively. Equivalent doses for the physicians could not be calculated per unit of activity because they did not handle the radiopharmaceuticals directly. Their doses were reported in millisieverts (mSv) that accumulated in one week. Similarly, the dose to the fingers of individuals in Group 5 was estimated to be 126.13±38.2 μSv/GBq. The maximum average finger dose, in this study, was noted in the technologists who handled therapeutic 131I (2.5 mSv). In conclusion, the maximum expected annual dose to extremities is less than the annual limit (500 mSv/y).  相似文献

Patient doses from computed tomography (CT) examinations are usually expressed in terms of dose index, organ doses, and effective dose. The CT dose index (CTDI) can be measured free-in-air or in a CT dosimetry phantom. Organ doses can be measured directly in anthropomorphic Rando phantoms using thermoluminescent detectors. Organ doses can also be calculated by the Monte Carlo method utilizing measured CTDI values. In this work, organ doses were assessed for three main CT examinations: head, chest, and abdomen, using the different mentioned methods. Results of directly measured doses were compared with calculated doses for different organs in the study, and also compared with published international studies.  相似文献

Abstract

The aim of this work is to present new devices for the measurement of velocity, kinetics, and enthalpy of chemical reactions occurring in a microfluidic chip, co-flow, or droplets flow. The thermal analysis goes from the macroscopic approach by microcalorimetry to microscopic analysis inside the microchannel by IR thermography. Concerning microcalorimetry, the enthalpy is deduced from the measurement of the global heat flux dissipated by the chemical reaction as a function of the molar flow rate. A validation is presented on a well-known acid-base reaction. This device can be combined with an IR camera for local characterization. The processing of the measured temperature fields allows the estimation of properties of great importance for chemical engineers, such as heating source distribution (i.e., the kinetics) of the chemical reaction along the channel. A validation experiment of a temperature field processing method is proposed with the Joule effect. From such a previous experiment, a Peclet field is estimated and used in a further step in order to study an acid-base co-flow configuration. Finally, a first tentative of thermal characterization inside droplets flow during an acid-base chemical reaction is also presented.  相似文献

The role of cannabinoid receptors in nephropathy is gaining much attention. This study investigated the effects of two neutral CB1 receptor antagonists, AM6545 and AM4113, on nephropathy associated with metabolic syndrome (MetS). MetS was induced in rats by high-fructose high-salt feeding for 12 weeks. AM6545, the peripheral silent antagonist and AM4113, the central neutral antagonist were administered in the last 4 weeks. At the end of study, blood and urine samples were collected for biochemical analyses while the kidneys were excised for histopathological investigation and transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1) measurement. MetS was associated with deteriorated kidney function as indicated by the elevated proteinuria and albumin excretion rate. Both compounds equally inhibited the elevated proteinuria and albumin excretion rate while having no effect on creatinine clearance and blood pressure. In addition, AM6545 and AM4113 alleviated the observed swelling and inflammatory cells infiltration in different kidney structures. Moreover, AM6545 and AM4113 alleviated the observed histopathological alterations in kidney structure of MetS rats. MetS was associated with a ten-fold increase in urine uric acid while both compounds blocked this increase. Furthermore, AM6545 and AM4113 completely prevented the collagen deposition and the elevated expression of the TGFβ1 seen in MetS animals. In conclusion, AM6545 and AM4113, possess reno-protective effects by interfering with TGFβ1-mediated renal inflammation and fibrosis, via peripheral action.  相似文献

Accurate and precise application of ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) in the quantification of environmental pollutants is a strenuous task. In this work, the electrochemical response of alendronate sodium trihydrate (ALN) was evaluated by the fabrication of two sensitive and delicate membrane electrodes, viz. polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and glassy carbon (GC) electrodes. A linear response was obtained at concentrations from 1 × 10−5 to 1 × 10−2 M for both electrodes. A Nernstian slope of 29 mV/decade over a pH range of 8–11 for the PVC and GC membrane electrodes was obtained. All assay settings were carefully adjusted to obtain the best electrochemical response. The proposed technique was effectively applied for the quantification of ALN in pure form and wastewater samples, acquired from manufacturing industries. The proposed electrodes were effectively used for the determination of ALN in real wastewater samples without any prior treatment. The current findings guarantee the applicability of the fabricated ISEs for the environmental monitoring of ALN.  相似文献

Two new, fully conjugated polymeric cyanine dyes based on trimethine and heptamethine moieties have been synthesized. Both polymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography, UV‐vis and IR spectroscopy, elementary analysis and cyclic voltammetry. The structure of one material could be confirmed with NMR spectroscopy. Upon head‐to‐tail coupling of the dye moieties distinct bathochromic shifts up to 159 nm were observed for the polymers which absorb solely in the near infrared (NIR) region with maxima up to 1 002 nm and very high molar absorption coefficients. This highly efficient absorption in the NIR spectral domain combined with the strong electron accepting properties makes these dyes interesting candidates for many optical applications; investigations on photovoltaic devices based on polymeric cyanine dye/C60 heterojunctions identify one of these possibilities.
