Hydroxybromierung und Methoxybromierung von (Z)-Cycloocten

In addition totrans-2-bromocyclooctanol andtrans-1,2-dibromocyclooctane,cis-4-bromocyclooctanol,cis-1,4-dibromocyclooctane,trans-1,4-dibromocyclooctane, and (Z)-5-bromocyclooctene are obtained, when (Z)-cyclooctene is treated with N-bromosuccinimide in the presence of water. Similarly the methoxybromination of (Z)-cyclooctene gives transanular products.

The reaction of the azomethine ylides 2a–c with cyclopropenones 3 and of 2a with methylene cyclopropenes 7 leads via (3+3)-cycloaddition to pyridones-4 5 and 1,4 - dihydro - N - methyl - 4 - methylene - pyridines 8, respectively. The merocyanine systems 8 exhibit marked solvatochromic and thermochromic properties.     

Transition metal nitrosyls as nitrosylation agents : II.Photo-nitrosylation of η5-C5H5V(CO)3L(L = CO,Pz3) by [Co(NO)2Br]2

η⁵-C₅H₅V(NO)₂CO is prepared in 40% yield by the photo-reaction between η⁵-C₅H₅V(CO)₄ and [Co(NO)₂Br]₂.η⁵-C₅H₅V(NO)₂CO reacts by an S_N1 mechanism with various phosphines PZ₃ to yield η⁵-C₅-H₅V(NO)₂PZ₃. The phosphine complexes are also obtained by photo-induced ligand interchange between η⁵-C₅H₅V(CO)₃PZ₃ and [Co(NO)₂Br]₂, or η⁵-C₅H₅V(CO)₄ and Co(NO)₂Br(PZ₃). In all cases, the main cobalt species formed is Co(NO)(CO)₃. While the one-bond vanadiumphosphorus coupling constants of most of the phosphine complexes are virtually the same (ca 410 Hz),the chemical shift values δ(⁵¹V) (?1328 to ?973 ppm rel. VOCl₃) decrease in the order PF₃ > CO > P(OR)₃ > P(alkyl)₃ > PPh₃ > PPh(NEt₂)₂, reflecting the decreasing π-acceptor ability of the ligands. δ(⁵¹V) also decreases in the series of alkylphosphines PR₃ (R = Me, Et, Prⁿ, Buⁱ, Prⁱ, BU^t) as the cone angle of PR₃increases.     

Vibrational and lifetime line broadenings in ESCA

The line profile of the narrow, symmetric 1s line from neon, recorded with the new ESCA instrument with X-ray monochromatization, is analyzed. The natural linewidth of this line is found to be 0.23 ± 0.02 eV, in good agreement with theoretical calculations of the oscillator strengths for Auger transitions and X-ray emission. Spectra from molecules show frequently asymmetric core electron lines under high resolution. This rules out previous explanations based on a chemical influence on the natural lifetime. Contrary to earlier assumptions, vibrational excitations are shown to be important in core electron spectra. For methane, the vibrational energy spacing is large enough to allow the vibrational lines to be partly resolved. Recent results from accurate PNO CI calculations on methane agree well with the experimental findings. The Franck-Condon transitions in the C1s and N1s lines from CO and N₂ are shown to be well described in the harmonic approximation and approximating the potential curves of the highly excited core hole states with the potential curve for the ground state of NO⁺, X¹ Σ⁺. Knowledge of vibrational excitations in core electron spectra is shown to be valuable in the analysis of high resolution X-ray emission spectra of free molecules.     

Darstellung und Struktur von Pyrazolyl-Kationen mit Polymethin- und Methan-Gerüst

The 4-pyrazoline-3-one1 reacts with 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde to yield the stable asymmetric cyanine dye2b which reacts with1 to give the colorless (aryl) (dipyrazolyl) methane3b. Using aldehydes with less cationstabilizing groups the polymethines2 are not isolated but only the methanes3. The structures of2b and3 are discussed by¹ H,¹³C and Hetero NMR spectra.     

Decarboxylierung cyclischer und acyclischer dicarboxylato-komplexe des platins

The interaction of (Ph₃P)₂PtO₂ (I) with the dicarboxylic acids HO₂C(CH₂)_nCO₂H (n = 1–3), phthalic acid and maleic acid gives the dicarboxylato complexes (Ph₃P)₂$\text{PtO(O)C(CH}{}_2\text{)}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>n</mtext>}}\text{C(O)O}$ (II) (n = 1–3), (Ph₃P)₂$\text{PtO(O)CC}{}_6\text{H}{}_4\text{C(O)O}$ (III) and cis-[(Ph₃P)₂Pt(O(O)CCHCHC(O)OH)₂] (IV) in nearly quantitative yield. Thermal and photoinduced decarboxylation of III and IV yields the platina heterocycles (Ph₃P)₂$\text{PtC}{}_6\text{H}{}_4\text{C(O)O}$ (V) and (Ph₃P)₂$\text{PtCHCHC(O)O}$ (VI) with a carbon-platinum σ-bond. Complex VI has been characterized by an X-ray crystal structure determination.
