Biogenetically inspired enantioselective approach to Indolo[2,3-a]- and benzo[a]quinolizidine alkaloids from a synthetic equivalent of secologanin

[reaction: see text] Racemic oxodiester 1 undergoes stereoselective cyclocondensation with (S)-tryptophanol, (S)-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)alaninol, or the corresponding amino acids, in a process involving a tandem dynamic kinetic resolution/desymmetrization of diastereotopic groups, to give bicyclic lactams, which are cyclized to substituted indolo[2,3-a]- and benzo[a]quinolizidines.     

Mixed fluoroamine complexes of chromium(III)

Summary Mixed difluoro(diamine)(diamme)chromium(III) complexes have been synthesized with ethylenediamine (en), 1,3 propanediamine(tn) and 1,2-cyclohexanediamine(chxn):trans-[CrF₂(aa)(bb)]Br (aa=en, bb=tn; aa=tn, bb= chxn) andcis-[CrF₂(aa)(bb)]Br (aa=en, bb=chxn). The corresponding fluoroaqua(diamine) (diamine)chromium(III) complexes have been prepared by acid hydrolysis as perchlorate or iodide salts. All have been characterized by chemical analysis, electronic and i.r. spectra and conductivity measurements.     

Dinuclear complexes with a μ-cyano ligand. Part XI(1). Synthesis and characterization of several derivatives ofcis-[Co(NH3)(en)2(H2O)]3+

Summary The new complex double saltscw-[Co(NH₃)(en)₂(H₂O)]₂ [M(CN)₄]₃ (en = ethylenediamine; M = Ni, Pd or Pt),cis-[Co(NH₃(en)₂(H₂O)]₂[FeNO(CN)₅]₃ andcis-[Co(NH₃)(en)₂(H₂O)][Co(CN)₆] have been synthesized and by anation in the solid state the corresponding new dinuclear complexes with a cyano bridgecis- ortrans-[(NH₃)(en)₂Co-NC-M(CN)₃]₂ [M(CN)₄] (M = Ni, Pd or Pt);cis-, trans-[(NH₃)(en)₂Co-NC-FeNO(CN)₄]₂[FeNO(CN)₅] andcis-[(NH₃)(en)₂Co-NC-Co(CN)₅ have been prepared. The complexes have been characterized by chemical analysis, t.g. measurements, and by i.r. and electronic spectroscopy. With [Ni(CN)₄][^2– and [Co(CN)in]₆ ^3– only thecis-isomer is produced; with [Pd(CN)₄]^2–, [Pt(CN)₄]^2– and [FeNO(CN)₅]^2– thetrans- isomer is the dominant species. The dinuclear complex derived from [Pt(CN)₄]^2– shows strong Pt-Pt interactions both in the solid state and in solution.     

Electrochemical Capacitive K+ EMIS Chemical Sensor Based on the Dibromoaza[7]helicene as an Ionophore for Potassium Ions Detection

A K⁺‐sensitive capacitive electrolyte‐membrane‐insulator‐semiconductor (EMIS) based on a novel dibromoaza[7]helicene ionophore has been developed. An ion‐sensitive membrane based on polyvinylchloride (PVC) doped with the ionophore was deposited on the Si₃N₄/SiO₂/Si‐p/Cu‐Al transducer. The properties of the K⁺‐EMIS chemical sensor were investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). All the developed devices upon being tested have shown good sensitivity and linearity responses within the range 10^?6 M to 10^?1 M of potassium activity, with good selectivity over a wide variety of other cations (Na⁺, Li⁺, Cu²⁺, Ca²⁺, and Mg²⁺). To our knowledge, this is the first time that a capacitive field‐effect sensor has been fabricated using helicene as a carrier for K⁺‐detection, combined with the structure: Si₃N₄/SiO₂/Si‐p/Cu‐Al as a transducer.     

Vapor-particle partitioning of hydrocarbons in Western Mediterranean urban and marine atmospheres

An analytical procedure is described for a comprehensive determination of the composition of hydrocarbons in the atmosphere, based on: (a) aerosol filtration and subsequent adsorption of the vapor phase onto active charcoal and polyurethane foam; (b) GPC and HPLC fractionation of the extracts, and (c) analysis of the fractions by GC-MS under EI and NICI modes. Special emphasis is placed onn-alkanes, PAHs and their oxygenated derivatives.The characterization of samples collected in a coastal urban area (Barcelona city), and far away over the Western Mediterranean, at sea level and at 1100 m of altitude, revealed significant changes in the aerosol composition, mainly attributed to initial vapor-particle partitioning processes, influenced by ambient temperature variations, and to others taking place during long-range atmospheric transport, related with the different compound photoreactivities and with an unexplained source-decoupling phenomenon.     

Synthesis of tricyclic phospholene oxides by cycloaddition of phosphorus halides with heterocyclic analogs of 1-vinyl-3,4-dihydronaphthalenes

Replacement of C-4 with a hetero substituent (NR,O,S) in the 1-vinyl-3,4-dihydronaphthalene system has provided a new type of diene for participation in the McCormack cycloaddition reaction with P(III) halides. The tricyclic phospholene oxides so obtained are the first to bear an additional heteroatom in the ring system. 1,2-Dihydro-7-methoxy-1-(p-toluenesulfonyl)-4-vinylquinoline is a stable solid that reacts with methylphosphonous dichloride to give, after hydrolysis of the cycloadduct, the 1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-phospholo-[2,3-c]quinoline ring system. The dihydroquinoline moiety was aromatized by detosylation with potassium t-butoxide. The tendency of 4-vinyl-2H-benzopyran to dimerize was a serious complication in its use, and the cycloaddition with methylphosphonous dichloride proceeded only in low yield. The product, a 2,3,3a,4-tetra-hydrobenzo[3,2-d]pyran derivative, was a stable, easily purified and characterized substance. 4-Vinyl-2H-benzo[b]thiopyran was more stable than the pyran, but the phospholo derivative from reaction with methylphosphonous dichloride was more difficult to purify. All products were characterized by ¹³C-nmr spectroscopy.     

Synthesis,Characterisation, and in vitro Cytotoxic Activity of Dithiocarbamato Glycoconjugate Half-Sandwich Ruthenium and Osmium Complexes

The synthesis by transmetallation and in-depth characterisation by IR spectroscopy of five half-sandwich ruthenium and osmium dithiocarbamato isonipecotamide glycoconjugate complexes are presented herein. The evaluation of their in vitro cytotoxicity and of the zinc precursors’ in vitro cytotoxicity towards ovarian cancer (A2780 and A2780cisR) and normal prostate (PNT2) cells is reported. While the cytotoxicity of the compounds is rather limited, some selectivity is observed.

We study an analogue of the classical theory of weights in without assuming that the underlying measure is doubling. Then, we obtain weighted norm inequalities for the (centered) Hardy-Littlewood maximal function and corresponding weighted estimates for nonclassical Calderón-Zygmund operators. We also consider commutators of those Calderón- Zygmund operators with bounded mean oscillation functions (), extending the main result from R. Coifman, R. Rochberg, and G. Weiss, Factorization theorems for Hardy spaces in several variables, Ann. of Math. 103 (1976), 611-635. Finally, we study self-improving properties of Poincaré-B.M.O. type inequalities within this context; more precisely, we show that if is a locally integrable function satisfying for all cubes , then it is possible to deduce a higher integrability result for , assuming a certain simple geometric condition on the functional .
