We present a novel source for continuous terahertz (THz) wave generation using an organic ionic salt, 4-dimethylamino-N-methyl-4-stilbazolium-tosylate (DAST). THz waves are generated based on difference frequency generation (DFG) in the device. Phase matching condition and THz generation between 1.3 THz and 2.7 THz, for optical pump around 1.6 μm, are investigated. Our calculations predict that the device produces a relatively high THz output power of 11.07 μW from a 4 cm long waveguide at 2 THz. 相似文献

The electronic structure, magnetic properties and also the bonding mechanism of the pure SiC and compounds SiC:Cr and SiC:Cr:Al have been studied using the Quantum SPRESSO Software within the density-functional theory (DFT). β-SiC, which is a nonmagnetic semiconductor, has more applications in industry. For the magnetic property, it is alloyed with transition metal. One of the transition metal is chromium. The calculations showed that its alloy at both Si site and C site (SiC:Cr) changes the physical properties of the host material and contributes in the molecular bond. It is seen that if the Al atom was doped in the compounds, SiC:Cr will produce hole carriers and the magnetic properties will thus increase to the considerable values due to the mediation effect. The magnetic property will create the up and down spin band gap to filter carriers. The charge density distribution illustrates that the Al atom has the atomic behavior in the compounds Sic:Cr:Al and does not contribute in the molecular bond. Maximum trapping efficiency in optical tweezers occurs close to the coverslip because spherical aberration owing to a mismatch in the refractive indices of the specimen (water) and the immersion oil dramatically decreases the trap efficiency as the trap depth increases. Measuring the axial trap efficiency at various tube lengths by use of an oil-immersion objective has shown that such an aberration can be balanced by another source of spherical aberration, leading to a shift in the position of the maximum efficiency in the Z direction. For a 1.1 microm polystyrene bead we could achieve the maximal efficiency at a depth of 70 microm, whereas the trap was stable up to a depth of 100 microm. 相似文献

All-optical coherent control of optical bistability(OB) and optical multistability(OM) in the 4.8 nm Zn Se single-quantum well based on excitons and biexciton transitions is investigated. By applying a pair of phase-locked laser pulses all-optical coherent control can be obtained. Theoretical analysis with density matrix and Maxwell equations then yield the optical bistability and optical multistability. It is shown that by controlling the coherent and incoherent processes, the intensity threshold of OB and OM can be modified. In this paper, “end effect”, which represents the deflection of meniscus of boundary nozzles in an array due to asymmetric electric field and repulsive forces between adjacent nozzles, is experimentally investigated and a polymer-based electrospray device is fabricated and tested to minimize the end effect. For the electrically conductive nozzles of electrospray, the end effect could be reduced by dummy nozzles, through which no liquid is supplied, mounted at the boundary of the array. However, the polymer-based electrospray device can eliminate the end effect without using the dummy dry nozzles due to dielectric characteristic. A novel multiple nozzles of Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA)-based electrospray device was successfully fabricated and evaluated for reducing the end effect, showing no deflection of menisci through the boundary nozzles. And ten nozzles device was fabricated and observed to eject liquid jet simultaneously. The electrical current of the spray issued from the nozzles of the polymer-based electrospray device is measured with respect to flow rate and shows a good agreement with the scaling law. 相似文献

The stimulated generation of vortex and antivortex pairs in reverse-biased Josephson fluxonic diode is used for detecting induced current signal. Radiation signal can either be coupled directly to the junction by modulating the bias current or be added to the control current that is responsible for the reversing magnetic field inside the Josephson fluxonic diode. Sensitivity to signals is a function of geometry and device dimensions, bias, and control quiescent points.
