CoFe2O4-BaTiO3 composites were prepared using conventional ceramic double sintering process with various compositions. Presence of two phases in the composites was confirmed using X-ray diffraction. The dc resistivity and thermoemf as a function of temperature in the temperature range 300 K to 600 K were measured. Variation of dielectric constant (ɛ′) with frequency in the range 100 Hz to 1 MHz and also with temperature at a fixed frequency of 1 kHz was studied. The ac conductivity was derived from dielectric constant (ɛ′) and loss tangent (tan δ). The nature of conduction is discussed on the basis of small polaron hopping model. The static value of magnetoelectric conversion factor has been studied as a function of magnetic field.  相似文献

The energy spectrum of an impulse: its relation to hearing loss   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Permanent threshold shifts obtained from 242 chinchillas that were exposed to various impulse noise paradigms have been related to the energy spectra of the impulses. The impulses were generated by three different shock tubes that produced impulse noise spectra whose A-weighted energies showed peaks at 0.25, 1, and 2 kHz. The results show that there is an increasing susceptibility to NIPTS as the audiometric test frequency increases from 0.5 to 16 kHz. This increase in susceptibility to NIPTS is further accentuated by approximately 5 to 10 dB for impulses whose spectra peak at 2 kHz.  相似文献

An analysis of the pure-tone threshold recovery functions obtained from 118 chinchillas exposed to high-level impulse noise showed that there are at least three distinctly different types of recovery function: type I--a recovery function for which the initial threshold shift recovers monotonically with increasing postexposure time; type II--a delayed recovery; i.e., for a period as long as 6 h following removal from noise, the pure-tone threshold remains elevated and stable before thresholds begin to follow a monotonic course of recovery; and type III--the growth function; i.e., over a period of at least 6 h following removal from the noise, pure-tone thresholds continue to get worse before they begin to follow a monotonic course of recovery. There is more permanent threshold shift (PTS), more sensory cell loss, and predictions of PTS and cell loss based upon initial measures of threshold shift are less accurate at those frequencies characterized by a type III recovery process than at those frequencies characterized by a type I recovery process.  相似文献

Seventeen groups of chinchillas with 11 to 16 animals/group (sigmaN = 207) were exposed for 5 days to either a Gaussian (G) noise or 1 of 16 different non-Gaussian (non-G) noises at 100 dB(A) SPL. All exposures had the same total energy and approximately the same flat spectrum but their statistical properties were varied to yield a series of exposure conditions that varied across a continuum from G through various non-G conditions to pure impact noise exposures. The non-G character of the noise was produced by inserting high level transients (impacts or noise bursts) into the otherwise G noise. The peak SPL of the transients, their bandwidth, and the intertransient intervals were varied, as was the rms level of the G noise. The statistical metric, kurtosis (beta), computed on the unfiltered noise beta(t), was varied 3 < or = beta(t) < or = 105. Brainstem auditory evoked responses were used to estimate hearing thresholds and surface preparation histology was used to determine sensory cell loss. Trauma, as measured by asymptotic and permanent threshold shifts (ATS, PTS) and by sensory cell loss, was greater for all of the non-G exposure conditions. Permanent effects of the exposures increased as beta(t) increased and reached an asymptote at beta(t) approximately 40. For beta(t) > 40 varying the interval or peak histograms did not alter the level of trauma, suggesting that, in the chinchilla model, for beta(t) > 40 an energy metric may be effective in evaluating the potential of non-G noise environments to produce hearing loss. Reducing the probability of a transient occurring could reduce the permanent effects of the non-G exposures. These results lend support to those standards documents that use an energy metric for gauging the hazard of exposure but only after applying a "correction factor" when high level transients are present. Computing beta on the filtered noise signal [beta(f)] provides a frequency specific metric for the non-G noises that is correlated with the additional frequency specific outer hair cell loss produced by the non-G noise. The data from the abundant and varied exposure conditions show that the kurtosis of the amplitude distribution of a noise environment is an important variable in determining the hazards to hearing posed by non-Gaussian noise environments.  相似文献

With the development of high intensity femtosecond lasers, the ionisation and dissociation dynamics of molecules has become an area of considerable interest. Using the technique of femtosecond laser mass spectrometry (FLMS), the molecules carbon disulphide, pyrimidine, toluene, cyclohexanone and benzaldehyde are studied with pulse widths of 50 fs in the near infrared (IR) wavelength region (790 nm). Results are presented and contrasted for laser beam intensities around 10(15) and 10(16) W cm(-2). For the lower intensities, the mass spectra yield dominant singly charged parent ions. Additionally, the appearance of doubly charged parent ions is evident for carbon disulphide, toluene and benzaldehyde with envelopes of doubly charged satellite species existing in these local regions. Carbon disulphide also reveals a small triply charged component. Such atomic-like features are thought to be a strong fingerprint of FLMS at these intensities. However, upon increasing the laser intensity to approximately 10(16) W cm(-2), parent ion dominance decreases and the appearance of multiply charged atomic species occurs, particularly carbon. This phenomenon has been attributed to Coulomb explosions in which the fast absorption of many photons may produce transient highly ionised parent species which can subsequently blow apart. The potential of femtosecond laser time-of-flight mass spectrometry (FLMS) for uniform quantitative analysis of molecules has been investigated. Various samples of molecular gases and vapours have been studied, using ultra-fast ( approximately 50 fs) laser pulses with very high intensity (up to 1.6 x 10(16) Wcm(-2)) for non-resonant multiphoton ionisation/tunnel ionisation. Some of these molecules have high ionisation potentials, requiring up to ten photons for non-resonant ionisation. The relative sensitivity factors (RSF) have been determined as a function of the laser intensity and it has been demonstrated that for molecules with very different masses and ionisation potentials, uniform ionisation has been achieved at the highest laser intensities. Quantitative laser mass spectrometry of molecules is therefore a distinct possibility. Copyright 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Compound specific stable isotope analyses of managed soils using isotope ratio mass spectrometry have been undertaken as a means of determining early land use practices. delta (15)N amino acid signals demonstrate differences between manured grassland, unmanured grassland and continuous cereal cultivation under long-term experimental land use control conditions, with delta (15)N in hydrophobic amino acids providing the most distinctive signals. Analysis of early modern/medieval and of Bronze age anthropogenic soils from Orkney demonstrates that such signals are retained in archaeological contexts. delta (13)C analyses of n- alkanoic acid components of the fossil, Bronze Age, anthropogenic soils suggest a major terrestrial input to these soils, with uniform composition of formation materials. Surficial soils demonstrate the assimilation of isotopically lighter carbon, providing a means of assessing the mobility of the n- alkanoic acids within soils and sediments.
