Ferroelectric properties in liquid crystals are no longer restricted to materials with a chiral molecular structure; ferroelectricity has been observed in a smectic phase formed by bent achiral molecules. Accordingly, two homologous series possessing a central biphenyl methane core have been synthesized, the central core having two lateral fluoro substituents. Both the series have six-ring structures and exhibit smectic mesophases of high thermal stability. The flexible biphenyl methane core imparts a slight curve to the molecules, giving them a bent shape. 相似文献

We have determined the gas transport properties of He, H2, O2, N2, and CO2 for 6FDA‐durene homopolymer and 6FDA‐durene/pPDA copolyimides. The 6FDA‐durene exhibits the highest permeability with the lowest selectivity. Permeability of copolymers decreases with increasing 6FDA–pPDA content, while permselectivity increases with an increase in 6FDA–pPDA content. 6FDA‐durene/pPDA (50/50) and 6FDA‐durene/pPDA (20/80) materials have O2 and CO2 permeabilities greater than those calculated from the addition rule of the semilogarithmic equation. These higher deviations from the additional rule of the semilogarithmic equation are mainly attributed to the fact that these copolyimides have higher solubility coefficients than those calculated from the additive rule. The Tg s of 6FDA‐durene/pPDA copolyimides decrease with an increase in 6FDA–pPDA content. Tg s predicted from the Fox equation are lower than the experimental data, and the their difference increases with an increase in pPDA content, implying the copolyimides of 6FDA‐durene/pPDA may have greater interstitial space among chains because of the conformation difference, and thus create more fraction free volume compared with the ideal case of simple volume addition. Density measurements also suggest these two copolymers have greater free volumes and the fractions of free volume, which supporting the gas transport results. This paper presents a two-stage multi-period decision model for allocation of the individual's savings into several investment plans. Although the U.S. economy is used as the background, the modelling methods are general enough to accommodate any tax law. The first stage of the model uses an asset-allocation method based on the single-index model. Because this method is static and does not provide for tax considerations and other constraints, it alone is not enough. The output of this optimal selection is used as exogenous parameters and controls for the second stage of the model which is an integer program. The IP includes fixed charges, statutory and budgetary constraints, a discount rate, and the risk level. We provide an example of this approach to illustrate how an individual can achieve his goals of terminal accumulations while maintaining the risk level, measured by the aggregate beta, he prefers. A linear programming relaxation of the IP model is utilized for sensitivity analysis to examine whether future adjustments in investment strategies are required. The model remains tractable enough for implementation by individuals who may not be experts in mathematical programming and financial planning. 相似文献

Summary 6-Phenylimino-3,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyran-4-amines (1) were converted to 1-phenyl-5,6-dihydropyridine-2(1H)-thiones (3). Those were akylated and hydrolyzed, thus yielding 6-methylthio-1-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-4(1H)-pyridinones (5). Finally, the methylthio group was removed withRaney nickel giving the title compounds6. The relative configurations of the formed diastereoisomeric dihydropyridinones have been investigated by NOE measurements.

Diese wurden alkyliert und zu 6-Methylthio-1-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-4(1H)-pyridinonen (5) hydrolysiert. Zuletzt gelangte man durch selektives Entfernen der Methylthiogruppe mitRaney-Nickel zu den Titelverbindungen6. Gas chromatography and pattern recognition methods were used to develop a potential method for differentiating European honeybees from Africanized honeybees. The test data consisted of 237 gas chromatograms of hydrocarbon extracts obtained from the wax glands, cuticle, and exocrine glands of European and Africanized honeybees. Each gas chromatogram contained 65 peaks corresponding to a set of standardized retention time windows. A genetic algorithm (GA) for pattern recognition was used to identify features in the gas chromatograms characteristic of the genotype. The pattern recognition GA searched for features in the chromatograms that optimized the separation of the European and Africanized honeybees in a plot of the two or three largest principal components of the data. Because the largest principal components capture the bulk of the variance in the data, the peaks identified by the pattern recognition GA primarily contained information about differences between gas chromatograms of European and Africanized honeybees. The principal component analysis routine embedded in the fitness function of the pattern recognition GA acted as an information filter, significantly reducing the size of the search space since it restricted the search to feature sets whose principal component plots showed clustering on the basis of the bees' genotype. In addition, the algorithm focused on those classes and/or samples that were difficult to classify as it trained using a form of boosting. Samples that consistently classify correctly are not as heavily weighted as samples that are difficult to classify. Over time, the algorithm learns its optimal parameters in a manner similar to a neural network. The pattern recognition GA integrates aspects of artificial intelligence and evolutionary computations to yield a "smart" one-pass procedure for feature selection and classification. 相似文献

A simple, selective, rapid, precise and accurate reverse phase high pressure liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the simultaneous estimation of diclofenac sodium and rabeprazole sodium from pharmaceutical formulations. The method was developed using a HiQ SiL C18 (250 mm × 4.6 mm i.d.) column with a mobile phase consisting of methanol:water, (80:20 v/v), at a flow rate of 1.25 mL min?1. Detection was carried out at 284 nm. Indapamide was used as an internal standard. The developed method was validated for linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection and limit of quantitation.
