We explore the possibilities of hyperon-nucleon pairing, involving lambda or sigma- hyperons, using different Nijmegen hyperon-nucleon potentials. We find possible very large nsigma- gaps and estimate their relevance for neutron star physics. 相似文献

The interaction of a single quantum dot with a bowtie antenna is demonstrated for visible light. The antenna is generated at the apex of a Si3N4 atomic force microscopy tip by focused ion beam milling. When scanned over the quantum dot, its photoluminescence is enhanced while its excited-state lifetime is decreased. Our observations demonstrate that the relaxation channels of a single quantum emitter can be controlled by coupling to an efficiently radiating metallic nanoantenna. 相似文献

Using scanning tunneling microscopy and infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy we have observed that the alpha-Fe2O3(0001) surface exhibits ferryl (Fe=O) groups, which may coexist with domains of the Fe-terminated surface. We therefore fully support ab initio calculations recently reported in the literature [W. Bergmeyer, H. Schweiger, and E. Wimmer, Phys. Rev. B 69, 195409 (2004)]. The close similarity to the results on the (0001) surfaces of Cr2O3 and V2O3 strongly suggests that the M=O termination under certain oxygen pressure conditions is the most stable for the close-packed surfaces of transition metal oxides with the corundum structure. 相似文献

Two delay-coupled semiconductor lasers are studied in the regime where the coupling delay is comparable to the time scales of the internal laser oscillations. Detuning the optical frequency between the two lasers, novel delay-induced scenarios leading from optical frequency locking to successive states of periodic intensity pulsations are observed. We demonstrate and analyze these dynamical phenomena experimentally using two distinct laser configurations. A theoretical treatment reveals the universal character of our findings for delay-coupled systems. 相似文献

Helicity-dependent total photoabsorption cross sections on the deuteron have been measured for the first time at ELSA (Bonn) in the photon energy range from 815 to 1825 MeV. Circularly polarized tagged photons impinging on a longitudinally polarized LiD target have been used together with a highly efficient 4pi detector system. The data around 1 GeV are not compatible with predictions from existing multipole analyses. From the measured energy range an experimental contribution to the GDH integral on the neutron of [33.9 +/- 5.5(stat) +/- 4.5(syst)] microb is extracted. 相似文献

We quantify the presence of direct processes in the S matrix of chaotic microwave cavities with absorption in the one-channel case. To this end the full distribution P(S)(S) of the S matrix, i.e., S=sqrt[R]e(itheta), is studied in cavities with time-reversal symmetry for different antenna coupling strengths T(a) or direct processes. The experimental results are compared with random-matrix calculations and with numerical simulations including absorption. The theoretical result is a generalization of the Poisson kernel. The experimental and the numerical distributions are in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions for all cases. 相似文献

We report two trimuon events producedin v interactions. Of these, one is of the charge type ?++, not previously reported. In an antineutrino exposure, one candidate of the charge type +?? has been observed. This type of event has also not been reported previously. The combined π → μ and K → μ background for the three events are calculated to be ~ 0.7 events. The rate relative to charged current events corresponding to these three events is of the order of 4 × 10?5. 相似文献

Foam films stabilized by a sugar-based nonionic surfactant, beta-dodecyl maltoside, are investigated. The film thickness and the film contact angle (which is formed at the transition between the film and the bulk solution) are measured as a function of NaCl concentration, surfactant concentration, and temperature. The film thickness measurements provide information about the balance of the surface forces in the film whereas the contact angle measurements provide information about the specific film interaction free energy. The use of the glass ring cell and the thin film pressure balance methods enables studies under a large variety of conditions. Thick foam films are formed at low electrolyte concentration. The film thickness decreases (respectively the absolute value of the interaction film free energy increases) with the increase of the electrolyte concentration according to the classical DLVO theory. This indicates the existence of a repulsive double layer electrostatic component of the disjoining pressure. An electrostatic double layer potential of 16 mV was calculated from the data. A decrease of the film thickness on increase of the surfactant concentration in the solution is observed. The results are interpreted on the basis of the assumption that the surface double layer potential originates in the adsorption of hydroxyl ions at the film surfaces. These ions are expelled from the surface at higher surfactant concentration. 相似文献

We study the combined effect of doping and an external magnetic field on S = 1/2 dimers which are weakly coupled by three-dimensional antiferromagnetic interactions J'. We show that application of an external magnetic field H opposes the long-range Ne el order which is known to result from doping with nonmagnetic impurities and drives the system back to the disordered phase if 3D interactions J' are not too large. We discuss the zero temperature phase diagram in the (H,J') plane and suggest that the reentrant behavior can be experimentally observed. 相似文献
