In Asia, Amomum tsao-ko has long been used as a spice or seasoning in food to stimulate digestion. In the present study, we evaluated the effects of ethanol extract of Amomum tsao-ko (EEAT) on menopausal osteoporosis and obesity. After the administration of EEAT in ovariectomy (OVX) mice models for five weeks, microcomputed tomography and a histological analysis were performed to assess, respectively, the trabecular structure and the fat accumulation in adipose, liver, and bone tissues. We also examined the effects of EEAT on a bone marrow macrophage model of osteoclastogenesis by in vitro stimulation from the receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa Β ligand (RANKL) through real-time PCR and Western blot analysis. In addition, ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC–MS/MS) with authentic standards was applied to characterize the phytochemical profiling of EEAT. We found that EEAT significantly decreased OVX-induced body weight gain and fat accumulation, significantly prevented OVX-induced deterioration of bone mineral density and microstructure of trabecular tissues, and significantly inhibited osteoclast differentiation by downregulating NF-κB/Fos/NFATc1 signaling in osteoclasts. Furthermore, UHPLC–MS/MS identified eight beneficial phytochemicals in EEAT. Collectively, these results suggest that EEAT might be an effective nutraceutical candidate to attenuate menopausal osteoporosis by inhibiting osteoclastogenesis and to prevent obesity by suppressing fat accumulation. 相似文献

A new approach to the construction of self‐assembled structures is reported that is based on ion‐pair recognition. Towards this end, the calix[4]pyrrole naphthocrown‐4 hybrid structures 2 and 3 were prepared. These multitopic receptors contain recognition sites for both anions and cations. On the basis of solution‐phase 1H NMR spectroscopic analysis and solid‐state single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction structural studies, it was established that receptors 2 and 3 are able to bind specific ion pairs with high selectivity via different binding modes. In the case of CsF and CsCl, the ion‐pair complexes formed from receptors 2 and 3 were found to self‐assemble to produce either linear supramolecular polymeric crystalline solids or nanotube‐like cyclic hexamers depending on the specific choice of ion pairs and crystallization solvents. A biosensor was prepared with natural melanin nanoparticles (MNP) decorated on a screen‐printed carbon electrode (SPCE). Hexavalent chromium was selected as a well‐known heavy metal ion to be detected for testing the performance of novel biosensor. Natural MNP was extracted from cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) ink. Surface decoration of SPCEs with MNP was performed by two different methods. The first one was layer‐by‐layer assembly (LBL‐A) for different cycle times(n). In the second one, plasma treatment of SPCE incorporated with evaporation‐induced self‐assembly (EI‐SA) techniques including different incubation times in MNP solutions. The performance of both modified SPCEs were tested for amperometric detection of Cr(VI) in various water samples, and peak reduction of Cr(VI) was determined at 0.33 V. Amperometric results showed wide linear ranges of 0.1–2 μM and 0.1–5 μM of Cr(VI) for SPCEs modified with 14n‐LBL‐A and 12h‐EI‐SA, respectively. The sensitivities of SPCEs modified with 14n‐LBL‐A and 12h‐EI‐SA techniques were 0.27 μA μM?1 and 0.52 μA μM?1, respectively. In addition, both modified SPCEs selectively detected Cr(VI) in a model aqueous system composed of certain other heavy metals and minerals, and tap and lake water samples. The LOD and LOQ values for 12h‐EI‐SA were 0.03 μM and 0.1 μM, respectively. This showed that MNP‐modified‐SPCEs generated via EI‐SA techniques have the potential to be an alternative to conventional detection methods such as ICP‐MS. 相似文献

An electrochemical sensor based on the conducting polymer composite with a palladium complex (Pd(C2H4N2S2)2) was developed for the detection of serotonin and dopamine simultaneously in the breast cancer cell and human plasma samples. The proposed sensor was fabricated using the Pd(C2H4N2S2)2 complex‐anchored poly2,2 : 5,2‐terthiophene‐3‐(p‐benzoic acid) (pTBA) layer on the AuNPs decorated reduced graphene oxide (AuNPs@rGO) substrate, which revealed the enhanced anodic current of the target species. The sensor probe was characterized by electrochemical and surface analysis methods. The experimental parameters affecting the sensor performance were optimized, in terms of AuNPs@rGO concentration, the number of electropolymerization cycle for pTBA, immobilization time of Pd(C2H4N2S2)2, and pH. The dynamic ranges for serotonin and dopamine were obtained from 0.02 to 200 μM, and from 0.1 to 200 μM with the detection limit of 2.5, and 24.0 nM, respectively. The effects of transesterification on the miscibility of poly(ethylene terephthalate)/poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalate) were studied. Blends were obtained by solution precipitation at room temperature to avoid transesterification during blend preparation. The physical blends and transesterified products were analyzed by wide-angle x-ray scattering, differential scanning calorimetry, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It was found that the physical blends are immiscible and when the extent of transesterification reaches 50% of the completely randomized state, independent of blend composition, the blends are not crystallizable and show a single glass transition temperature between those of starting polymers. The interchange reactions were significantly influenced by annealing temperature and time but negligibly by blend composition. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Some new Rh(I) and Ir(I) complexes of the types [(COD)M(LL)]ClO4 and [(COD)MCl]2 [COD = cyclooctadiene; M = Rh, Ir; LL = 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (DPPF), 1-diphenylphosphino-2-(N,N-dimethylamino)methylferrocene (FcNP), 1,6-diferrocenyl-2,5-diazahexane (FcNN)] were prepared, and their catalytic activities toward polymerization of phenyl acetylene were examined. The rhodium complexes proved to be very effective catalysts to yield highly stereoregular polyphenylacetylene (cis-transoidal-PPA) in high yields under mild conditions. The number-average molecular weight (M n) of the PPA obtained is in the range of 19,000–33,000 and the weight-average molecular weight (M ω) is in the range of 47,000–95,000. Comparative studies revealed that of various catalysts employed, the cationic mononuclear [Rh(FcNN)(COD)]ClO4 complex exhibited the best results to give exclusively the cis-transoidal-PPA (cis content ∼100%) with the highest molecular weight (M n = 33,340) in the highest chemical yield (94%). Other reaction parameters such as the softness of the ligand, the solvent, the relative amount of catalyst, and the reaction temperature were also investigated to find that all these factors played crucial roles. The iridium systems worked better for the trimerization rather than polymerization to yield 1,3,5-triphenybenzene as major product. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

2,4-Hexadiyn-1,6-diol (HDO) was polymerized on glass and silicon plates by chemical vapor deposition without transition metal catalysis to form homogeneous thin films. Structural properties of the films were investigated by FT-IR, UV-visible, Raman, x-ray diffraction, and XPS spectroscopic analyses. The structure of CVD-polymerized HDO (CVD-PHDO) films was different from that of metathesis polymerized HDO (metathesis-PHDO), showing a polyacene-based structure but no polyene structure with acetylenic side groups. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献
