Graphite was dispersed in immiscible polyvinylidene fluoride/maleated polypropylene (PVDF/PPgMA) blends to improve electrical and thermal conductive properties by building a double‐percolation structure. The morphology of PVDF/PPgMA blends was first investigated for several compositions by selective solvent extraction, scanning electron microscopy, and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis. Blends of PVDF and PPgMA were prepared in different relative fractions, and a PVDF/PPgMA ratio of 7/3 showed a well‐co‐continuous structure. From this blend, the morphology and properties of composites with different concentrations of graphite were investigated to prepare double‐percolated structures. Graphite was observed to selectively localize in the PPgMA phase. The electrical and thermal conductive properties of graphite‐containing blends were measured, showing enhanced conductivity for the double‐percolation structures compared with single‐polymer composites containing the same graphite loadings. A density functional theory (DFT) study is performed to determine the stability of the complexes formed between either the N or O site of 3-methyl-4-pyrimidone and 1-methyl-2-pyrimidone molecules and different ligands. The studied ligands are boron and alkali Lewis acids, namely, B(CH(3))(3), HB(CH(3))(2), H(2)B(CH(3)), BH(3), H(2)BF, HBF(2), BF(3), Li(+), Na(+), and K(+). The acids are divided into two groups according to their hardness. The reactivity predictions, according to the molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) map and the natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, are in agreement with the calculated relative stabilities. Our findings reveal a strong regioselectivity with borane and its derivatives preferring the nitrogen site in both pyrimidone isomers, while a preference for oxygen is observed for the alkali acids in the 3-methyl-4-pyrimidone molecule. The complexation of 1-methyl-2-pyrimidone with these hard alkali acids does not show any discrimination between the two sites due to the presence of a continuous delocalized density region between the nitrogen and the oxygen atoms. The preference of boron Lewis acids toward the N site is due to the stronger B-N bond as compared to the B-O bond. The influence of fluorine or methyl substitution on the boron atom is discussed through natural orbital analysis (NBO) concentrating on the overlap of the boron empty p-orbital with the F lone pairs and methyl hyperconjugation, respectively. The electrophilicity of the boron acids gives a good overall picture of the interaction capabilities with the Lewis base. 相似文献

We have systematically sampled the potential energy surface of crystalline tetracene to identify its local minima. These minima represent all possible stable configurations and constitute the "inherent structures" of the system. The crystal is described in terms of rigid molecules with Coulombic and atom-atom interactions. Hundreds of distinct minima are identified, mostly belonging to the space groups P (triclinic) and P2(1)/c (monoclinic), with a variety of structural arrangements. The deepest minimum corresponds to the high temperature-low pressure polymorph. This is the only polymorph with a completely described X-ray structure, which is satisfactorily described by the calculations. The next deep minimum is likely to correspond to the low temperature-high pressure polymorph, which has been experimentally identified but not yet fully described. 相似文献

We investigate by density-functional theory simulations several elementary reactions associated to direct methane-to-methanol conversion on clean Rh(111) surfaces and on Rh adatoms on Rh(111). Energy barriers and reaction paths have been determined by the nudged elastic band method. The rate-limiting step in the process, C-O bond formation, has higher activation energy than the one for complete methane dehydrogenation. Our analysis enables us to understand the effect of defects on the reactivity and rules out Rh as candidate catalyst for methanol synthesis. 相似文献

We present a new high performance configuration interaction code optimally designed for the calculation of the lowest-energy eigenstates of a few electrons in semiconductor quantum dots (also called artificial atoms) in the strong interaction regime. The implementation relies on a single-particle representation, but it is independent of the choice of the single-particle basis and, therefore, of the details of the device and configuration of external fields. Assuming no truncation of the Fock space of Slater determinants generated from the chosen single-particle basis, the code may tackle regimes where Coulomb interaction very effectively mixes many determinants. Typical strongly correlated systems lead to very large diagonalization problems; in our implementation, the secular equation is reduced to its minimal rank by exploiting the symmetry of the effective-mass interacting Hamiltonian, including square total spin. The resulting Hamiltonian is diagonalized via parallel implementation of the Lanczos algorithm. The code gives access to both wave functions and energies of first excited states. Excellent code scalability in a parallel environment is demonstrated; accuracy is tested for the case of up to eight electrons confined in a two-dimensional harmonic trap as the density is progressively diluted up to the Wigner regime, where correlations become dominant. Comparison with previous quantum Monte Carlo simulations in the Wigner regime demonstrates power and flexibility of the method. 相似文献

We study a large ensemble of nuclear spins interacting with a single electron spin in a quantum dot under optical excitation and photon detection. At the two-photon resonance between the two electron-spin states, the detection of light scattering from the intermediate exciton state acts as a weak quantum measurement of the effective magnetic (Overhauser) field due to the nuclear spins. In a coherent population trapping state without light scattering, the nuclear state is projected into an eigenstate of the Overhauser field operator, and electron decoherence due to nuclear spins is suppressed: We show that this limit can be approached by adapting the driving frequencies when a photon is detected. We use a Lindblad equation to describe the driven system under photon emission and detection. Numerically, we find an increase of the electron coherence time from 5 to 500 ns after a preparation time of 10 micros. 相似文献

The observation of proton to nitrogen-15 heteronuclear Overhauser effects in the microcrystalline protein Crh is used to confirm that the principal mechanism of relaxation of amide nitrogens is due to the fluctuation of the N-H dipolar couplings caused by N-H bond dynamics. Fe[(CH3(CH2)2PO3)(H2O)] (1) and Fe[(CH3(CH2)17PO3)(H2O)] (2) were synthesized by reaction of FeCl2·6H2O and the relevant phosphonic acid in water in presence of urea and under inert atmosphere. The compounds were characterized by elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, UV-visible and IR spectroscopy. The crystal structure of (1) was determined from X-ray single crystal diffraction studies at room temperature: monoclinic symmetry, space group P21, , , , and β=98.62(3)°. The compound is lamellar and the structure is hybrid, made of alternating inorganic and organic layers along the c direction. The inorganic layers consist of Fe(II) ions octahedrally coordinated by five phosphonate oxygen atoms and one from the water molecule, separated by bi-layers of propyl groups. A preliminary structure characterization of compound (2) suggests a similar layered structure, but with an interlayer spacing of 40.3 Å. The magnetic properties of the compounds were both studied by a dc and ac SQUID magnetometer. Fe[(CH3(CH2)2PO3)(H2O)] (1) obeys the Curie-Weiss law at temperatures above 50 K (, ), indicating a Fe +II oxidation state, a high-spin d6 (S=2) electronic configuration and an antiferromagnetic exchange couplings between the near-neighbouring Fe(II) ions. Below , Fe[(CH3(CH2)2PO3)(H2O)] exhibits a weak ferromagnetism. The critical temperature of has been determined by ac magnetic susceptibility measurements. Compound (2) shows the same paramagnetic behaviour of the iron (II) propyl derivative. The values of C and θ were found to be and −44 K, respectively, thus suggesting the presence of Fe +II ion in the S=2 spin state and antiferromagnetic interactions between Fe(II) ions at low temperatures. Zero-field and field cooled magnetic susceptibility vs. T plots do not overlap below , suggesting the presence of an ordered magnetic state. The critical temperature, TN, has been located by the peaks at from the ac susceptibility (χ′and χ″) vs. T plots. Below TN hysteresis loops recorded in the temperature region show an S-shape, while below 15 K assume an ellipsoid form. They reveal that compound (2) is a weak ferromagnet. The critical temperature TN in these layered Fe(II) alkylphosphonates is independent of the distance between the inorganic layers. 相似文献

The conformational landscape of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) has been investigated by a combined experimental matrix-isolation FT-IR and theoretical methodology. This combination is a powerful tool to study the conformational behavior of relatively small molecules. Geometry optimizations at the HF/3-21 level resulted in 438 different geometries with an energy difference smaller than 22 kJ mol−1. Among these, six conformations were detected with a relative energy difference smaller than 10 kJ mol−1 at the DFT(B3LYP)/6-31++G∗∗ level of theory. These were finally subjected to MP2/6-31++G∗∗ optimizations which resulted in five minima. The vibrational and thermodynamical properties of these conformations were calculated at both the DFT and MP2 methodologies. Experimentally NAC was isolated in an argon matrix at 16 K after being sublimated at 323 K. The most stable MP2 form appeared to be dominant in the experimental spectra but the presence of three other conformations with ΔEMP2 < 10 kJ mol−1 was also demonstrated. The experimentally observed abundance of the H-bond containing conformations appeared to be in good accordance with the predicted MP2 value. 相似文献
