We propose and analyze a new scheme of realizing both spin filtering and spin pumping by using ac-driven double quantum dots in the Coulomb blockade regime. By calculating the current through the system in the sequential tunneling regime, we demonstrate that the spin polarization of the current can be controlled by tuning the parameters (amplitude and frequency) of the ac field. We also discuss spin relaxation and decoherence effects in the pumped current.  相似文献

Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics simulations have been carried out for aqueous NaOH and KOH solutions under ambient conditions over a wide range of concentrations. From these simulations, we have observed a continuous change of the water structure with added hydroxide, characterized by a significant shift of the second peak of the OO radial distribution functions to shorter distances. At the highest concentration investigated, the normal tetrahedral coordination of pure water is completely missing, a result that is consistent with a recent neutron diffraction experiment. The added hydroxide also gives rise to some unique spectroscopic features, including a "free" O-H stretch, a broadening of the normal water OH stretching band, and a large blue shift of both the librational band and the low-frequency translation. These results are in good agreement with the experimental data. Finally, it was demonstrated that the structural and dynamical behavior is inextricably linked to the formation of compact hydroxide-water complexes.  相似文献

We have investigated the charge ordering (CO) in magnetite below the Verwey transition. A new set of half-integer and mixed-integer superlattice reflections of the low-temperature phase have been studied by x-ray resonant scattering. None of these reflections show features characteristic of CO. We demonstrate the absence of CO along the c axis with the periodicity of either the cubic lattice q=(001) or the doubled cubic lattice q=(001/2). This result suggests that the Verwey transition is caused by strong electron-phonon interaction instead of an electronic ordering on the octahedral Fe atoms.  相似文献

A new dinuclear copper(II) complex has been synthesized and structurally characterized: [Cu(mu-ade)(tolSO3)(phen)]2.2H2O (Hade = adenine, tolSO3- = toluenesulfonate anion). Its magnetic properties and electronic paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra have been studied in detail. The compound has two metal centers bridged by two adeninate NCN groups. The coordination geometry of the copper(II) ions in the dinuclear entity is distorted square pyramidal, with the four equatorial positions occupied by two phenanthroline N atoms and two N atoms from different adenine molecules. The axial position is occupied by one sulfonate O atom. Magnetic susceptibility data show antiferromagnetic behavior with an estimated exchange constant of -2J = 65 cm-1. The EPR spectrum has been obtained at both X- and Q-band frequencies; a study at different temperatures has been carried out at the latter. Above 20 K, the Q-band spectra are characteristic of S = 1 species with a small zero-field splitting parameter (D = 0.0970 cm-1). A detailed study of the DNA-complex interaction has been performed. The title complex efficiently cleaves the pUC18 plasmid in the presence of reducing agents. Both the kinetics and the mechanism of the cleavage reaction are examined and described herein.  相似文献

Quality control is an important and integral part to any microfabrication process. While the widths of features often can be easily assessed by light microscopy, the heights of the fabricated structures are more difficult to determine. Here, we present a rapid, accurate, and low-cost method to measure the heights of microfabricated structures during and after the fabrication process. This technique is based on white-light interferometry, which offers accuracy on the submicrometre scale.  相似文献

Saturated monocarboxylic acids up to C6, several bicarboxylic acids and some of the corresponding anhydrides are hydrogenated in the homogeneous phase with H4Ru4(CO)8(PBu3)4 as catalyst to give the corresponding alcohols (present among the reaction products as esters) or lactones at 100–200°C under a pressure of 100–200 atm of hydrogen. Anhydrides react at temperatures lower than those needed for acids. Esters are not reduced. Only δ-valerolactone is hydrogenated to 1,5-pentanediol. Ruthenium carbonyl carboxylates have been recovered at the end of the reaction and appear to be catalytically active intermediates.  相似文献

Left or right handed alpha helicity can be induced in a pentapeptide (ANGYG) by appending left or right handed helical cycles as chiral templates. This sequence corresponds to a rare left handed helix found in the protein alanine racemase. Circular dichroism spectra reveal that pentapeptide ANGYG has no detectable structure in aq phosphate buffer, that it is an ambidextrous peptide in that it can be directed to fold into either a left handed or right handed alpha helix in water, with greater propensity for the uncommon left handed than the normal right handed conformation. A helix-inducing cyclic peptide at both ends of this peptide was more effective at inducing alpha helicity than a single cyclic peptide at one end. The alpha helical cyclic peptides provide novel tools for folding short peptides into thermodynamically unstable helices in water, and for studying factors that control chirality and helix induction.  相似文献
