Starting from a 4n-dimensional quaternionic Kähler base space, we construct metrics of cohomogeneity one in (4n+3) dimensions whose level surfaces are theS 2 bundle space of almost complex structures on the base manifold. We derive the conditions on the metric functions that follow from imposing the Einstein equation, and obtain solutions both for compact and non-compact (4n+3)-dimensional spaces. Included in the non-compact solutions are two Ricci-flat 7-dimensional metrics withG 2 holonomy. We also discuss two other Ricci-flat solutions, one on theR 4 bundle overS 3 and the other on anR 4 bundle overS 4. These haveG 2 and Spin(7) holonomy respectively.  相似文献

SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate) has been quantitatively determined by capillary zone electrophoresis using a fused silica capillary and a 5 mM dihydroxybenzoic acid / sodium hydroxide buffer in 5% methanol solution at a pH of 8.1. The ion was detected by indirect UV absorption at 250 nm. Detection range was from 0.8 to 50 mg SDS/L. This rapid method requiring only small sample volumes was developed in support of an aquatic toxicology study in a simulated stream water and is applicable to waters containing common inorganic ions.  相似文献

The effect of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid on the redox systems Fe+2/Fe+3 and Cu+/Cu+2 has been examined. In each case the oxidation potential of the system was markedly reduced, thus making the lower valency state a more powerful reductant. It has been established that the oxidation potentials of the two systems, in the presence of EDTA, at PH 4–5, are 0.12 and 0.13 v respectively.Because of these enhanced reducing powers, attempts were made to use ferrous-EDTA and cuprous-EDTA as reductimetric reagents. A variety of oxidants was in fact successfully titrated, but neither titrant possessed any advantage over existing reagents.The reducing properties of both systems lie intermediate between those of stannous and titanous chlorides.Theoretical considerations suggest the existence of a cuprous-EDTA complex with a formation constant of ca. 1018.  相似文献

A method has been developed for the determination of cupric copper by complexometric titration with ethylen.ediaminetctraacetic acid. The titrations were followed potentiometrically, and were effected at pH 5–6 in the presence of an ammonium acetate buffer. Interfering metals such as ferric iron, aluminium, cadmium, zinc, manganese, nickel, cobalt and lead must be removed by a preliminary separation.  相似文献

We report the demonstration of miniaturized capillary isoelectric focusing (CIEF) in plastic microfluidic devices. Conventional CIEF technique was adapted to the microfluidic devices to separate proteins and to detect protein-protein interactions. Both acidic and basic proteins with isoelectric points (pI) ranging from 5.4 to 11.0 were rapidly focused, mobilized, and detected in a 1.2 cm long channel (50 microm deep x 120 microm wide) with a total analysis time of 150 s. In a device with a focusing distance of 4.7 cm, the separation efficiency for a basic protein, lysozyme, was achieved as high as 1.5 x 10(5) plates, corresponding to 3.2 million plates per meter. We also experimentally confirmed that IEF resolution is essentially independent of focusing length when the applied voltage is kept the same and within a range that it does not cause Joule heating. Further, we demonstrated the use of miniaturized CIEF to study the interactions between two pairs of proteins, immunoglobulin G (IgG) with protein G and anti-six histidine (anti-6xHis) with 6xHis-tagged green fluorescent protein (GFP). Using this approach, protein-protein interactions can be detected for as little as 50 fmol of protein. We believe miniaturized CIEF is useful for studying protein-protein interactions when there is a difference in pI between a protein-protein complex and its constitutent proteins.  相似文献

The Positive Action conjecture requires that the action of any asymptotically Euclidean 4-dimensional Riemannian metric be positive, vanishing if and only if the space is flat. Because any Ricci flat, asymptotically Euclidean metric has zero action and is local extremum of the action which is a local minimum at flat space, the conjecture requires that there are no Ricci flat asymptotically Euclidean metrics other than flat space, which would establish that flat space is the only local minimum. We prove this for metrics onR 4 and a large class of more complicated topologies and for self-dual metrics. We show that ifR 0 there are no bound states of the Dirac equation and discuss the relevance to possible baryon non-conserving processes mediated by gravitational instantons. We conclude that these are forbidden in the lowest stationary phase approximation. We give a detailed discussion of instantons invariant under anSU(2) orSO(3) isometry group. We find all regular solutions, none of which is asymptotically Euclidean and all of which possess a further Killing vector. In an appendix we construct an approximate self-dual metric onK3 — the only simply connected compact manifold which admits a self-dual metric.  相似文献

A high-resolution sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis system has been used to show the presence, in both whole sperm and isolated flagellar axonemes, of eight polypeptides migrating in the 300,000--350,000 molecular weight range characteristic of the heavy chains of dynein ATPase. Previously, only five such chains have been discernible. Extraction of isolated axonemes for 10 min at 4 degrees C with a solution containing 0.6 M NaCl, ph 7, releases a mixture of particles that separate, in sucrose density gradient centrifugation, into a major peak, dynein 1 ATPase, sedimenting at 21S and a minor peak at 12--14S. The polypeptide compositions of these two peaks are different. The dynein 1 peak, which contains most of the protein on the gradient, contains approximately equal quantities of two closely migrating heavy chains, with a small amount of a third, more slowly migrating chain; no other heavy chains appear in this peak. Two groups of smaller polypeptides (three intermediate chains, within the apparent molecular weight range 76,000--122,000 and four newly discovered light chains, within the apparent molecular weight range 14,000--24,000) cosediment with the 21S peak. The heavy chain composition of the 12--14S peak is more complex, all eight heavy chains occurring approximately the same ratios as occur in intact axonemes.  相似文献

The h(c)((1)P(1)) state of charmonium has been observed in the reaction psi(2S) --> pi(0)h(c) --> (gammagamma)(gammaeta(c)) using 3.08 x10(6) psi(2S) decays recorded in the CLEO detector. Data have been analyzed both for the inclusive reaction, where the decay products of the eta(c) are not identified, and for exclusive reactions, in which eta(c) decays are reconstructed in seven hadronic decay channels. We find M(h(c)) = 3524.4 +/- 0.6 +/- 0.4 MeV which corresponds to a hyperfine splitting DeltaM(hf)(1P) triple-bond pi(0)h(c)) x B(h(c) --> gammaeta(c)) = (4.0 +/- 0.8 +/- 0.7) x 10(-4).  相似文献
