Laser spectroscopy at storage rings often suffers from a limited resolution due to Doppler-broadened resonances. Broadening
is caused by the velocity spread of the ions stored in the beam. In the following, the present status of our work on laser
systems specialized on the specific needs of laser spectroscopy at storage rings is reported.
Two pulsed laser systems were developed. One is a dye laser whose spectral bandwidth can be switched by inserting different
Littrow-prisms into the resonator. An increase in bandwidth up to a factor of 45 was achieved. This laser was used for fast
qualitative scans and high resolution measurements. The other laser system is a Nd : YAG laser pumped optical parametric oscillator.
It is a tunable laser system covering the spectral range from 410 to 4000 nm. Furthermore, a continuous wave laser with a
frequency shifted feedback cavity is described. It shows broadband emission with an adjustable bandwidth of up to 4.5 GHz.
This laser can be advantageous for laser cooling of ion beams.

Summary. The convergence rate of Krylov subspace methods for the solution of nonsymmetric systems of linear equations, such as GMRES
or FOM, is studied. Bounds on the convergence rate are presented which are based on the smallest real part of the field of
values of the coefficient matrix and of its inverse. Estimates for these quantities are available during the iteration from
the underlying Arnoldi process. It is shown how these bounds can be used to study the convergence properties, in particular,
the dependence on the mesh-size and on the size of the skew-symmetric part, for preconditioners for finite element discretizations
of nonsymmetric elliptic boundary value problems. This is illustrated for the hierarchical basis and multilevel preconditioners
which constitute popular preconditioning strategies for such problems.

Punctured languages are languages whose words are partial words in the sense that the letters at some positions are unknown. We investigate to which extent restoration of punctured languages is possible if the number of unknown positions or the proportion of unknown positions per word, respectively, is bounded, and we study their relationships for different boundings. The considered restoration classes coincide with similarity classes according to some kind of similarity for languages. Thus all results we can also formulate in the language of similarity. We show some hierarchies of similarity classes for each class from the Chomsky hierarchy and prove the existence of linear languages which are not δ ‐similar to any regular language for any δ < ½. Spectral changes induced by moderate electric fields provide detailed insight into the electronic states of organic and inorganic solids. Although the basic effects, Stark effect and Franz–Keldysh effect, are the same in both types of material, the electroabsorption spectra vary strongly in size and spectral lineshape due to competing interactions. The large variance of the effects is demonstrated by representative examples of high mobility semiconductors, quantum wells, π-conjugated polymers, and charge transfer transitions in single crystals, disordered films and a double-quantum well. It is shown that only high-quality samples reveal the quantum mechanics of field-induced effects which are very sensitive to disorder. 相似文献
