Conversion of chiral unsaturated cyanohydrins into chiral carba- and heterocycles via ring-closing metathesis

Aliphatic unsaturated cyanohydrins 1-3 served as starting materials in the synthesis of a set of new chiral unsaturated cyclic 1,2-ethanolamines. Combining a Grignard addition-NaBH₄ reduction sequence with a ring-closing metathesis afforded unsaturated cyclic 1,2-ethanolamines 7-11 and 22-25 in good yields and high ee (96-99%). The conversion of cyanohydrins 1-3 via a DIBAL reduction-transimination-NaBH₄ reduction sequence, using allylamine, followed by ring-closing metathesis yielded tetrahydropyridines 28, tetrahydroazepinols 33 and tetrahydroazocinols 34 in high yields and excellent ee (97-99%).     

Quantum toys for quantum computing: persistent currents controlled by the spin Josephson effect

Quantum devices and computers will need operational units in different architectural configurations for their functioning. The unit should be a simple "quantum toy," an easy to handle superposition state. Here such a novel unit of quantum mechanical flux state (or persistent current) in a conducting ring with three ferromagnetic quantum dots is presented. The state is labeled by the two directions of the persistent current, which is driven by the spin chirality of the dots, and is controlled by the spin (the spin Josephson effect). It is demonstrated that by the use of two connected rings, one can carry out unitary transformations on the input flux state by controlling one spin in one of the rings, enabling us to prepare superposition states. The flux is shown to be a quantum operation gate, and may be useful in quantum computing.     

Effect of dichroic azo-dye doped on ferroelectric liquid crystals

In order to study the effect of mixing dye in ferroelectric liquid crystal （FLC） materials, the phase transition temperature and electro-optical properties of azo dye doped FLC samples have been investigated. All the properties have been found to be changed drastically. The results have revealed that not only the SmC^＊- SmA^＊ transition temperature decreased markedly by the addition of azo-dye, but also dye-doped FLC had lower threshold voltage and saturation voltage than the pure FLC.

基于Kane方程,建立起了包含有耦合的三次几何及惯性非线性项大范围直线运动梁动力学控制方程．利用多尺度法并结合笛卡尔坐标变换,对所得方程进行一次近似展开,着重对满足一、二阶模态间3:1内共振现象的两端铰支梁参激振动平凡解稳定性进行了详尽的分析,得出了稳定性边界的解析表达式．采用中心流形定理对调制微分方程组进行降维处理,分析了相应Hopf分岔类型并通过数值计算发现了稳定的极限环存在．     

受轴向基础激励悬臂梁非线性动力学建模及周期振动

针对轴向基础激励的悬臂梁，基于Kane方程建立了含几何非线性及惯性非线性相互耦合项的动力学方程，采用多尺度法研究了梁的主参激共振响应。研究结果表明，梁的非线性惯性项具有软特性效应，对系统二阶及以上模态产生显著影响；而梁的非线性几何项具有硬特性效应，主宰了系统的一阶模态响应。将文中结果与同类研究进行比较，取得了很好的一致性，从一个侧面验证了建模方法的正确性。
