Visualization of lipid-receptor interactions on single cells by time-resolved imaging fluorescence microscopy

The physical interaction between plasma-membrane lipids and the epidermal growth factor (EGF)-receptor was investigated on single A431 human epidermoid carcinoma cells by monitoring fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between exogeneously added fluorescein-EGF (donor) and 2-(4,4-difluoro-5,7-dimethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene-3-pentanoyl)-1-hexadecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (Bodipy-PC, acceptor) using donor-photobleaching FRET-microscopy. The measured mean FRET-efficiency of 13% is indicative of such a physical interaction and exemplifies the great potential and sensitivity of time-resolved imaging fluorescence microscopy techniques for the study of lipid-receptor interactions on single cells.     

Gamow vectors for barrier wells

We study four examples of Gamow vectors in one-dimensional potential barriers, namely square barriers and delta barriers. We show that resonances appear when the potential has at least two relative maxima and investigate the emergence of double resonances given rise to Gamow–Jordan vectors as well.     

Gamow dyads and expectation values

We analyze the possibilities to define density operators for the Gamow vectors in order to extend this concept to the Liouville space. We shall study the properties of the dyadic products of Gamow vectors and see that there exist difficulties if we try to obtain a Gamow density in Liouville space by factorizing Gamow vectors. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Unstable quantum oscillator with point interactions: Maverick resonances,antibound states and other surprises

In the search for solvable or quasi-solvable models for resonances, we consider a one-dimensional potential, which is a harmonic oscillator for x<0$x<0$, has a point potential at the origin of the form aδ(x)+bδ^′(x)$a\delta (x)+b{\delta }^{\prime }(x)$ and no interaction for x>0$x>0$. After a study of this model, we add a mass jump at the origin and study the effect of the combination of the mass jump and the point potential. We obtain the behavior of resonances, bound and antibound states in terms of given parameters. In spite of the simplicity of the model, it shows quite interesting and unexpected features.     

A Unified Mathematical Formalism for the Dirac Formulation of Quantum Mechanics

We revise the mathematical implementation of the Dirac formulation of quantum mechanics, presenting a rigorous framework that unifies most of versions of this implementation.     

On the Moyal Formulation of Quantum Identical Particles

Wigner functions of permutation operators are obtained and are used as a basis for a phase space formulation of quantum identical particles. Non-spin systems as well as 1/2 spin systems are considered. The general results are applied to a couple of examples.     

Gamow Vectors and Time Asymmetry

We prove that Gamow vectors are important toolsin the quantum theory of irreversibility. We use themathematical formalism of rigged Hilbert spaces. Wediscuss some spectral formulas that include Gamow vectors as well as some results concerningGamow vectors. The role of the time-reversal operator isstudied. The formalism can be applied to formulate asense of irreversibility in cosmology.
