Dedekind Complete Commutative BCK-algebras

We study Dedekind complete commutative BCK-algebras with the relative cancellation property and their connection with corresponding universal groups. We shall characterize Dedekind orthogonally complete atomic and Archimedean BCK-algebras, generalizing results of Jakubík known for MV-algebras. Finally, we characterize those Dedekind complete and atomic commutative BCK-algebras that are isomorphic to direct products of basic BCK-chains, generalizing a result of Cignoli for MV-algebras.     

A theorem on the endomorphism ring of reduced torsion-free abelian groups and some applications

Effect of the addition of a nonionic surfactant on the complex poly(asparagine)--cationic surfactant

Poly(asparagine) (pAsn) at 0.1wt % in the presence of dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) and pentaoxyethylene octyl ether (C(8)E(5)) at 1:1 molar ratio leads to the formation of mixed DTAB/C(8)E(5) micelle-like aggregates onto the polypeptide as a total surfactant critical association concentration (cac) is reached, as revealed by surface tension measurements and NMR chemical shifts. Two-dimensional nuclear Overhauser enhancement spectroscopy (NOESY) capable of revealing spatial relationships among proximal protons has been performed on the pAsn-DTAB-C(8)E(5)-water system to study structural details of the surfactant-polypeptide aggregates. NOESY cross-peaks at sample temperature of 298.15 K indicate that the polypeptide interacts with the DTAB/C(8)E(5) micelle-like aggregates. The NOE intermolecular effects also show direct interactions between surfactant and polypeptide in the pAsn-DTAB-water system, whereas no interaction has been revealed in the pAsn-C(8)E(5)-water system. Furthermore, the experimental evidence suggest that the DTAB-polypeptide complex is mainly driven by the polar attraction between the two molecules.     

Analytical Issues in the Construction of Self-dual Chern–Simons Vortices

In this note we discuss the solvability of Liouville-type systems in presence of singular sources, which arise from the study of non-abelian Chern Simons vortices in Gauge Field Theory and their asymptotic behaviour (for limiting values of the physical parameters). This investigation has contributed towards the understanding of singular PDE ’s in Mean Field form, in connection to surfaces with conical singularities, sharp Moser–Trudinger and log(HLS)-inequalities, bubbling phenomena and point-wise profile estimates in terms of Harnack type inequalities. We shall emphasise mostly the physical impact of the rigorous mathematical results established and mention several of the remaining open problems.     

Synthesis and anti‐HIV‐1 evaluation of 1,5‐disubstituted pyrimidine‐2,4‐diones

1,5‐Disubstituted pyrimidine‐2,4‐diones were synthesized by fusion of 5‐bromouracil with an aniline derivative followed by coupling with benzyl halide whereas the opposite synthesis sequence failed. Also 4,6‐dichloro‐N,N,5‐trimethylpyrimidin‐2‐amine was treated with phenols. The products were tested for their activity against HIV‐1.

Box Valued Functions in Solving Systems of Equations and Inequalities

The paper gives reliable methods for solving systems of equations and systems of inequalities by using a box valued function the so-called zone function. Beside theorems and drafts of computer programs, some numerical examples are also presented for illustration of the effectiveness of methods.     

On an identity of Ramanujan over finitely generated domains

Summary We show that a well-known identity of Ramanujan admits only a bounded number of solutions over general finitely generated domains. The bound is explicit and uniform in the sense that it depends only on the dimensions of the domains involved. Our method is constructive, and opens up a possibility to determine the solutions in concrete instances. In some special cases all solutions are determined. Our results can also be considered as a continuation of some theorems of Z. Daróczy and G. Hajdu, obtained over Z. We note that in case of Hosszú's equation, similar results were obtained by several authors.
