Preparation and characterization of silver/TiO2 composite hollow spheres

Silver-coated poly(methyl acrylic acid) (PSA) core-shell colloid particles were prepared by an in situ chemical reduction method. Crystalline silver/titania composite hollow spheres were obtained by coating the as-prepared PSA/silver particles with an amorphous titania layer and subsequently calcining in Ar atmosphere. SEM and TEM investigation indicated that the size of the as-prepared PSA/silver and PSA/silver/TiO(2) core-shell particles and silver/titania composite hollow particles was fairly uniform and the wall thickness of the hollow spheres was in the range of 40-80 nm. UV-vis absorption spectra were recorded to investigate their optical properties.     

On the statistical mechanics of the traveling salesman problem

We consider the statistical mechanics of the traveling salesman problem (TSP) and develop some representations to study it. In one representation the mean field theory has a simple form and brings out some of the essential features of the problem. It shows that the system has spontaneous symmetry breaking at any nonzero temperature. In general the phase progressively changes as one decreases the temperature. At low temperatures the mean field theory solution is very sensitive to any small perturbations, due to the divergence of some local susceptibilities. This critical region extends down to zero temperature. We perform the quenched average for a nonmetric TSP in the second representation and the resulting problem is more complicated than the infinite-range spin-glass problem, suggesting that the free energy landscape may be more complex. The role played by frustration in this problem appears explicitly through the localization property of a random matrix, which resembles the tight binding matrix of an electron in a random lattice.     

Carbon nanotube assisted synthesis of CeO2 nanotubes

CeO₂ nanotubes have been synthesized facilely using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as templates by a liquid phase deposition method. The properties of the CeO₂ nanotubes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) as well as thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA). The obtained CeO₂ nanotubes with a polycrystalline face-centered cubic phase have a uniform diameter ranging from 40 to 50 nm. The CeO₂ nanotubes are composed of many tiny interconnected nanocrystallites of about 10 nm in size. The pretreatment of CNTs and calcination temperature were confirmed to be the crucial factors determining the formation of CeO₂ nanotubes. A possible formation mechanism has been suggested to explain the formation of CeO₂ nanotubes.     

A new C21-steroidal glycoside from Cynanchum stauntonii

A new C21-steroidal glycoside with two known compounds were isolated from the root of Cynanchum Stauntonii.Based on thespectral analysis,including MS,1H NMR,13C NMR,DEPT,1H-1H COSY,13C-1H COSY,HMQC and HMBC,their chemicalstructures were determinated as glaucogenin-C 3-O-a-L-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-b-D-digitoxopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-canaropyranoside(1),stigmasterol(2)and ursolic acid(3).     

铜、钴、镍同时分离工艺的研究

稀土体系三种元素同时分离的工艺最近已有发表,但非稀土方面的工作尚未见报导.对Cu、Co、Ni三种元素,通常是将Cu、Co作为一个组份与Ni分离.本工作对组成为Cu:Co:Ni=1:1:1的水相合成料液设计了两种工艺,进行了串级实验,实现了该三种元素的同时分离, 串级实验以HEH(EHP)作萃取剂,煤油为稀释剂,其它试剂均用分析纯.     

Electronic structures of dihedral (D5h, D5d, D6h, D6d) fullerenes

By means of our proposed method for Hückel theory calculation, we have calculated the electronic structures of dihedral (D_5h, D_5d, D_6h, D_6d) fullerences, which are generated from icosahedral C₂₀, C₆₀, C₈₀, C₁₈₀, C₂₄₀ and C₅₄₀, respectively. From the calculated results of 1224 fullerence molecules, certain rules on the stability and chemical reactivity have been drawn for such types of dihedral fullerenes.     

Pd(PhCN)(2)Cl(2)/P(t-Bu)(3): a versatile catalyst for Sonogashira reactions of aryl bromides at room temperature

The structure and magnetic properties of μ3-oxotriiron(III) complex [Fe3O(OBz)6(CH3OH)3](NO3)(CH3OH)2

A new μ₃-O triiron(III) complex [Fe₃O(OBz)₆(CH₃OH)₃](NO₃)(CH₃OH)₂ (HOBZ = benzoic acid) has been synthesized, its structure has been determined and variable temperature magnetic susceptility has also been measured. In the molecule, three iron atoms formed an equilateral triangle with μ₃-O in center. The fitting to the magnetic susceptibility showed that an intramolecular antiferromagnetic exchange interaction occurred between iron atoms with J=-25.51 cm^?1, and a weaker intermolecular autiferromagnetic exchange interaction occurred with zJ' = ?2.30 cm^?1.     

Structure and magnetism of Eu2IrD5

A powder neutron diffraction study of Eu¹⁵³₂IrD₅ has shown it to be isostructural with Sr₂IrD₅ at room temperature. Unlike the latter compound, it does not undergo a deuterium-ordering transition at low temperatures. Magnetic scattering at helium temperatures confirms the suggestion that it becomes ferromagnetic below 20 K with a moment corresponding to that of divalent europium.
