The thermal decomposition process of kaolinite–potassium acetate intercalation complex has been studied using simultaneous thermogravimetry coupled with Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and mass spectrometry (TG-FTIR-MS). The results showed that the thermal decomposition of the complex took place in four temperature ranges, namely 50–100, 260–320, 320–550, and 650–780 °C. The maximal mass losses rate for the thermal decomposition of the kaolinite–potassium acetate intercalation complex was observed at 81, 296, 378, 411, 486, and 733 °C, which was attributed to (a) loss of the adsorbed water, (b) thermal decomposition of surface-adsorbed potassium acetate (KAc), (c) the loss of the water coordinated to potassium acetate in the intercalated kaolinite, (d) the thermal decomposition of intercalated KAc in the interlayer of kaolinite and the removal of inner surface hydroxyls, (e) the loss of the inner hydroxyls, and (f) the thermal decomposition of carbonate derived from the decomposition of KAc. The thermal decomposition of intercalated potassium acetate started in the range 320–550 °C accompanied by the release of water, acetone, carbon dioxide, and acetic acid. The identification of pyrolysis fragment ions provided insight into the thermal decomposition mechanism. The results showed that the main decomposition fragment ions of the kaolinite–KAc intercalation complex were water, acetone, carbon dioxide, and acetic acid. TG-FTIR-MS was demonstrated to be a powerful tool for the investigation of kaolinite intercalation complexes. A series of rubber composites were prepared by blending styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) latex and the different particle sized kaolinites. The thermal stabilities of the rubber composites were characterized using thermogravimetry, digital photography, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. Kaolinite SBR composites showed much greater thermal stability when compared with that of the pure SBR. With the increase of kaolinite particle size, the pyrolysis products became much looser; the char layer and crystalline carbon content gradually decreased in the pyrolysis residues. The pyrolysis residues of the SBR composites filled with the different particle sized kaolinites showed some remarkable changes in structural characteristics. The increase of kaolinite particle size was not beneficial to form the compact and stable crystalline carbon in the pyrolysis process, and resulted in a negative influence in improving the thermal stability of kaolinite/SBR composites. 相似文献

Mitochondria are responsible for maintaining a variety of cellular functions. One such function is the interaction and subsequent import of proteins into these organelles via the translocase of outer membrane (TOM) complex. Antibodies have been used to analyze the presence and function of proteins comprising this complex, but have not been used to investigate variations in the abundance of TOM complex in mitochondria. Here, we report on the feasibility of using capillary cytometry with laser-induced fluorescence to detect mitochondria labeled with antibodies targeting the TOM complex and to estimate the number of antibodies that bind to these organelles. Mitochondria were fluorescently labeled with DsRed2, while antibodies targeting the TOM22 protein, one of nine proteins comprising the TOM complex, were conjugated to the Atto-488 fluorophore. At typical labeling conditions, 94 % of DsRed2 mitochondria were also immunofluorescently labeled with Atto-488 Anti-TOM22 antibodies. The calculated median number of Atto-488 Anti-TOM22 antibodies bound to the surface of mitochondria was ~2,000 per mitochondrion. The combination of fluorescent immunolabeling and capillary cytometry could be further developed to include multicolor labeling experiments, which enable monitoring several molecular targets at the same time in the same or different organelle types. This report describes the first hydrophobic nitric oxide (NO)-releasing material that utilizes light as an external on/off trigger to control the flux of NO generated from cured polymer films. Fumed silica polymer filler particles were derivatized with S-nitroso-N-acetyl-dl-penicillamine and blended into the center layer of trilayer silicone rubber films. Nitric oxide is generated upon irradiation with light, and fluxes increase with increasing power of incident light. The ability to precisely control NO generation from this material has the potential to answer fundamental questions about the levels of NO needed to achieve desired therapeutic affects in different biomedical applications. 相似文献

The magnetic excitations of the square-lattice spin-1/2 antiferromagnet and high- T(c) parent compound La2CuO4 are determined using high-resolution inelastic neutron scattering. Sharp spin waves with absolute intensities in agreement with theory including quantum corrections are found throughout the Brillouin zone. The observed dispersion relation shows evidence for substantial interactions beyond the nearest-neighbor Heisenberg term which can be understood in terms of a cyclic or ring exchange due to the strong hybridization path around the Cu4O4 square plaquettes. 相似文献

The topography evolution of simultaneously rotated and Ar (+) ion sputtered InP surfaces was studied using scanning force microscopy. For certain sputter conditions, the formation of a highly regular hexagonal pattern of close-packed mounds was observed with a characteristic spatial wavelength which increases with sputter time t according to lambda approximately t(gamma) with gamma approximately 0.26. Based on the analysis of the dynamic scaling behavior of the surface roughness, the evolution of the surface topography will be discussed within the limits of existing models for surface erosion by ion sputtering. 相似文献

The stability of nitrogen-doped zirconia/zirconium oxonitride Zr7O11N2 has been studied at pressures up to 20 GPa and temperatures up to 2273 K using a multi-anvil press and X-ray powder diffraction. Depending on pressure and temperature it was found to decompose into the respective stable oxides and nitrides. Therefore the critical influence of temperature, pressure and consequently mechanical tension on doped materials have been revealed. The transition pressures of some oxidic and nitridic high-pressure modifications have been confirmed. The coefficient of thermal expansion of Zr7O11N2 was determined to α(T)=17.94(20)×10−6 K−1+6.35(14)×10−9 K−2×T. 相似文献
