Time-resolved measurements of the thermal lens effect have been made for CH3F, CH3CI and C2H4. This technique is compared to others used in the study of vibrational relaxation phenomena and is found to be applicable to the study of a wide variety of gaseous systems at relatively low pressures. Translational cooling has been observed in CH3F and an approximate lower limit of 200 msec-1 has been established for the rate of this cooling process, which corresponds to equilibration of the ν3 and ν6 states, in a mixture of 0.2 torr CH3F and 10 torr Ar.  相似文献

Copolymers of methyl methacrylate with methyl and ethyl α-hydroxymethylacrylate and with α-hydroxymethylstyrene have been prepared with free-radical initiators at temperatures below 80°C. At higher reaction temperatures or under extrusion conditions, alcohol was eliminated and the free hydroxyl content was greatly decreased. All evidence indicates the formation of six-membered lactone groups in this post-polymerization reaction: direct evidence for their formation is lacking, however, since neither infrared nor nuclear magnetic resonance spectra could be used to detect lactonization in this system. The loss of activity from 14C ester-labeled methyl methacrylate copolymer on heating could be correlated with the extent of lactonization. The degree of lactonization is relatively less with copolymers containing higher amounts of hydroxymethyl groups. The resulting polymers exhibit higher heat distortion temperatures and decreased impact resistance when compared to poly(methyl methacrylate). Attempts were made to incorporate similar lactone structures by cyclocopolymerization with methyl methacrylate of α-methacryloxymethylstyrene or ethyl α-methacryloxymethylacrylate, but only crosslinked polymers or polymers with pendent unsaturation were found.  相似文献

Laser projection-patterned etching of GaAs in a HCl and CH3Cl atmosphere performed using a pulsed KrF-excimer laser (=248 nm, =15 ns) and deep-UV projection optics (resolution 2 m) is reported. The etching process carried out in a vacuum system having a base pressure of 10–6 mbar is shown to result from a purely thermochemical reaction. Etching takes place in two steps: (i) between the laser pulses, the etchant gas reacts with the GaAs surface-atomic layer to form chlorination products (mainly As and Ga monochlorides), (ii) local laser surface heating results in the desorption of these products allowing further reaction of the gas with the surface. The influence of the etching parameters (laser energy density, gas pressure and pulse repetition rate) on the etch rate and the morphology of the etched features was studied. Etch rates up to 0.15 nm per pulse, corresponding to the removal of 0.5 GaAs molecular layer, are achieved. The spatial resolution of the etching process is shown to be controlled by the heat spread in the semiconductor and by the nonlinear dependence of the etch rate on the surface temperature. As a result, etched features smaller or larger than the projected features of the photomask are achieved depending on the laser energy density. Etched lines having a width of 1.3 m were obtained at low fluences by the projection of 2 m wide lines onto the GaAs surface.  相似文献

We present an overview of the Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) induced activation measurements. The LDEF, which was gravity-gradient stabilized, was exposed to the low Earth orbit (LEO) radiation environment over a 5.8 year period. Retrieved activation samples and structural components from the spacecraft were analyzed with low and ultra-low background HPGe gamma spectrometry at several national facilities. This allowed a very sensitive measurement of long-lived radionuclides produced by proton- and neutron-induced reactions in the time-dependent, non-isotropic LEO environment. A summary of major findings from this study is given that consists of directionally dependent activation, depth profiles, thermal neutron activation, and surface beryllium-7 deposition from the upper atmosphere. We also describe a database of these measurements that has been prepared for use in testing radiation environmental models and spacecraft design.  相似文献

A crystalline glycylglycine complex of monoperoxovanadate has been obtained and its X-ray structure determined. The coordination is pentagonal bipyramidal with the peroxo group and a tridentate glycylglycine occupying the equatorial positions. The axial positions of the anion are occupied by the oxo ligand and by one oxygen of the peroxo group of the adjacent anion. The latter interaction establishes the seventh bond and produces a dimeric structure in the crystalline material. NMR studies of its dissolution in water combined with previously reported results from equilibrium measurements show that the dimer dissociates in water to the monomeric precursor. It is proposed that this monomer corresponds to the complex responsible for the inhibition of the vanadium-catalyzed decomposition of hydrogen peroxide by glycylglycine.
